    As a cloud architect i find your session extremely useful specially the networking fundamentals with a touch of your experience. I would like to suggest a correction at 2:28:40 secs that Trangit gateway can be used with:
    1. VPN
    2. Direct Connect
    3. Both VPN and Direct Connect
    I have used TGW with multiple VPC attachments and multiple VPN connections for a year before Direct Connect was setup.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Před rokem

      Yes. That’s what we said was the main difference between cloud hub and transit gateway.
      Cloud hub is only vpn and transit gateway works with multiple WAN options.

    NAT gateway is an AWS managed service, it has high availabilty and is maintained by AWS and has a guaranteed performance. A NAT instance is an instance sized, installed and maintained by you, the customer. The function is the same.

    Hi Mike, As always very great explanation. In this video for local zones @43.55, I have few questions,
    1) It is mentioned that when dealing with cloud, we need to get to the cloud and if cloud is 1K miles away, that can introduce some latency. But same is applicable for Data center also. If our users are far way from Data Center, this could introduce latency.
    2)I understood the example of financial trading company for competitive edge. It is mentioned here that "some time latency that it takes to go from your DC to cloud is so bad, it kills Organizations Competitive Advantage". So the question is, why would one go from DC to cloud, if application is hosted on DC.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Před 2 lety +1

      Mandar.
      The datacenter is often local so there is no latency
      The point of the local zone is when cloud computing isn’t good enough.
      So if an organization wants to go to the cloud and needs low latency - the local zone fixes some of the latency problems
      Of course the customer could stay in the datacenter and not have any of these issues. But then they lose the transformation that can be offered with the best cloud architectures.

    This is one of the best , so detailed and so descriptive explained in simple language. Loved this bootcamp and i will be watching all your videos soon Mike. Thank you Mike and Team for making these bootcamps free. I am very much grateful. I have been on Tech from past 12 years working on Linux OS , networks (not very detailed though) , storage etc - System Engineer . And I love to be technical. I am just brain storming whether I want to see myself as Cloud Infrastructure Engineer or an Architect in upcoming years. I think i should be getting more better and better technically as Cloud Infra Engineer and then I would aim for Architect. My technical knowledge will drive me to design or architect systems well further. Let me know what you think about it. Really looking forward towards your feedback and advice. Thank you so much for all these content you prepare.

      @@GoCloudArchitects Thank you for your quick response! I want to play with systems , design the systems end to end Infrastructures. Becoming Architect is the goal. But I am not able to decide how to kick start as a beginner. Should I cloud engineering first and then opt for architect? Recently, I was offered Technical account manager role from Google. Should I go for it ? Will that help me to become Architect in future ?

    I believe that you teach fundamentals, and that's very important, underrated, and not practiced by many educators.
    I do wonder if you are properly preparing your students with so much emphasis on soft skills while promoting the technology as not being as important.
    I do agree to a point; however, if the resource spends their time focusing on soft skills, the tech skills will go into cold storage and desolve. How do you address that?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Před rokem

      Kyle - the job of the architect is to enable businesses transformation. Our focus is how the tech can impact the business, not the tech itself.
      We design, present and sell the technology.
      Our graduates this year earned positions between 120-287k US dollars. In fact every day we get calls from companies asking us for our graduates. They say we don’t want techies - we want architects like you create.
      When you ask architects what they do in their jobs - they say it’s all finesse.
      They say it’s all about
      Executive presence
      Soft skills
      Emotional intelligence
      Sales skills
      Leadership skills
      Business acumen
      Responding to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs
      Meetings
      Entertaining clients etc
      We don’t touch the tech ever.
      We also build teams to design every architecture.
      So the question I ask you if you were the customer which would you prefer
      Someone who can lead a team of 50 experts with 20 years experience each to design the architecture?
      Or someone who can’t build the team and just has tech skills
      That’s the difference between engineering and architecture
      We design, present and sell. We enable digital transformation. It’s a finesse job and that why our students get hired every day. That’s also why we re-train the techies to get them architect jobs

    • @KyleMBrown
      @KyleMBrown Před rokem

      @@GoCloudArchitects As stated initially, we see this very much alike. I've worn both hats and practiced in this field for some time.
      What I've consistently seen is a desire by hiring managers and recruiters to hire an engineer that both interfaces with stakeholders AND is hands-on and I believe that is a unicorn for the most part.
      Soft Skills and the other things on your list are critical but can not account for or replace an understanding of the ever-changing technology which must be kept current. This means it must be practiced in some capacity (research, training, touching) or it will be lost.
      To answer your question, when I hire I typically want people that can get the job done. So the leader is it for sure. Engineers generally like to focus on technical tasks, not the big picture.

    I think Its not correct that NAT Gateway doesn't need a internet gateway to provide egress only internet. At 1:53.30. NAT Gateway alone won't provide internet access you must have NATGW + Internet GW to get the internet to private subnet.

    • @GoCloudArchitects

      Carlos - certifications make your resume stand out.
      And the CCNA is far more comprehensive then the AWS advanced networking.
      Just know that certifications will help you get and interview but you need knowledge to get hired.
      The knowledge is far more important than any certification.
