I had that experience once and I used to sleep with a blanket over my head. I woke up, couldn’t move, couldn’t see anything and didn’t know where I was it was really intense fright. I had to really will my body to do something and roll off the bed it was weird

I think even if he didn't have sleep paralysis, when you haven't been breathing for a while your extremities become weak and/or numb, so even if you know you have to do something to get oxygen, your body might not be able to act on it. It's a big reason why so many people who play suffocation "games" end up dying accidentally.

Full on obstructing sleep apnea and sleep paralysis. A pair of easily lethal conditions that also force you to be aware its happening, and unable to do much, if anything, about it. Some actually bone-chilling shit to go through. "You're being dramatic." Hate people who are like that. XP
Had an ex like that too, downplayed everything and didn’t have the time to listen, but when they had a simple cold it was the end of the world. Constantly on my case for telling them how crap I felt & acting like I was making it up. Turns out I wasn’t & I got diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening disease that was unmanaged. Left that waste of space human in the dirt and found someone 1000 times better in every way.
