    it really impresses me to what lengths these brilliant car engineers and designers would go to make the process of simple change of a stereo unit as user unfriendly as possible. this is madness..

      My dad used to tell me how stereo units were at some point a major theft target, so I guess it makes sense in that context

    This is superb.
    Can I change the Nissan radio for an after market one and if so do I need a special electric plug adapter?
    OTOH is there a way in which I could run an AUX 3.5 wire to somewhere so I can use an MP3 or phone with a jack?
    All best wishes.

      Thanks. Yes you can fit an aftermarket stereo but you may need a wiring plug and/or aerial adapter. I don't really know about the other wiring as I don't really do much with audio systems.

      You'll probably need something like this to fish it back out: www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Pickup-Bend-Hard-Reach/dp/B07S35DC4Y
      Make sure the battery is disconnect before you start fishing !

    • @dadygee

      I am going for a regular sized, bluetooth, standard, single DIN unit for €50.. There is also those with a pop out screen and some that fit a single slot radiohole but with a larger screen but then it would cover the little box for glasses and stuff :)
      check local retail or online store that you see fit.. To fit anything bigger you have to modify the dash. But you will probably spend more money on the radio than the car is worth.
      Nice little car but man.. talk about making it hard to remove something that should be simple to swap. On my 1968 car you see the screws to take out when changing something. Removing plastic cover on the A pillar to remove top of the dash to reach the bracket to FFS... It could have been as easy as the top 2 screws and the ones underneath.. we will see if this will be worth it.

    Did you turn off airbags before installing or is it not needed?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 3 měsíci

      No it's not needed for this job. You could de-activate them by disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few minutes, and then reconnect it when you're finished the job, if it makes you feel safer.

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Před 3 měsíci

      You might need a wiring adaptor but that should be easy enough to get

      @@screwsnutsandbolts no problem, I found a forum of people who have micras and apparently it's just removing the cubicle on top of the radio and plugging another wire. Do you remember if there was another wire behind the stereo unit?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
