Presentation details: September 7, 2016 @ Memphis Islamic Center
In this series, Lives of the Sahaba, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses the lives of the noble companions, some of the greatest and most blessed human beings to ever live after the death of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him [S].
While not a comprehensive history of the Khulafa Ar-Rashidoon, this series will provide a summarized biography of the men and women considered to be the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet [s]), including the Mothers of the Believers (the wives of the Prophet).

This part of the series is so painful to hear. It breaks my heart to learn what Ali (RA) had to deal with. May Allah have mercy on his beautiful soul and forgive him for any wrong that he may ever have done and reunite him with our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) his beautiful wife Fatimah (RA), his children and grand children, his companions Abu Bakir (RA), Umar Ibn Khatab (RA), Uthman Ibn Affan (RA) and all the sahabas (RA ajm3in). Ameen ya rub.

"And if two parties among the believers fall to fighting, then make peace
between them both. But if one of them outrages against the other, then
fight you (all) against the one that which outrages till it complies
with the command of Allah. Then if it complies, then make reconciliation
between them justly, and be equitable. Verily, Allah loves those who
    are the equitable." [Quran 49/9]
This verse also refutes the extreme shias who do takfeer on Aisha (RA) and Muawiya.

I am Shia, I do not consider mother of believers kafir, but question is here: why can't we make peace among Muslims? Also, why can't we hear from our Sunni brothers a strong and clear stand on Yazid Muawyah? And the fact that Muawyah appointed his son as a monarch successor to establish a dynasty. I pray that God brings our hearts closer. One should look at what happened in Al Harrah in Medina (let alone Karbala and Ashura).

I was surprised when the sheikh translated 7:32 "qul man harrama zeenatallahi..." as "Who has forbiddehpn the fine garments..." . Allah has used 'zeenah" which means "beauty" (not fine garments). The Qur'an forbids ostentation of any kind, especially outward show-off of wealth and piety. So I have to ask the sheikh "How long the Rasoolallah (saws) wore that fancy Bahraini gift of robe?" Since it was a gift, he (saw) might have worn it for a few moments to show his appreciation of the gift-giver's kindness, but wearing it as a show of the gold-studded garment's beaty could not be prophetic character because it was useless and counter-productive ostentation. Allah forbids show-off even in worship, much less "fine garments".
This sheikh is putting out a very wrong message of Islam - not just in this video - but in many other ways. In one of his videos, he says that the best ways to make money is teaching the Qur'an! Think twice before taking your religion from this 'sheikh'.

Alhamdolillah, I came to the real Islam that is perfectly preserved in the Qur'an. Had I listenened to these self-proclaimed custodians of Islam, otherwise known as the "shuyukh or ulema", I would have been in persistent deceipt away from the Truth.
In all these lecture series of Yasir Qadhi - our familiar face - we see an apparently glorifying, but actually a "concealed" approach to de-emphasize - or as in this veto, defame Hazrat Ali (r.a). As I have mentioned in my comments on many of this "sheikh"s videos, this sheikh hardly let's any lecture without unleashing his dehumanizing comments about the Shias.
Consider the following "pieces of information" from this video:
    1. It was for the FIRST TIME in Hazrat Ali (r.a)'s tenure that "mass killing" of Muslims occurred.
    2. During Hazrat Ali's stint, Jang--e-Jamal occurred where the revered Mother of Believers was defeated with 10000 Muslim casualties (compare that with the infamous ISIS today).
    3. During Hazrat Ali's stint, Jang-e-Siffin occurred where a sahabi Hazrat Muawiyyah (r.a) was involved. This battle allegedly cost 60000 Muslim lives! (compare that with the infamous ISIS today).
    4. Then, some highly religious people (Khawarij) who claimed to implement the Qur'anic teachings (as they understood) were defeated by Hazrat Ali in the Nehrwan battle. That battle, too, cost hundreds of Muslim lives.
Now, if we believe this "sheikh" - who has shown ZERO ABILITY to analyze anything he reads on the basis of the Qur'an - we will have no choice but to believe that Hazrat Ali (r.a), as Ameer-U.K.-mo'mineen, was a complete failure (ma'azalllah) in guaranteeing the safety of Muslims and preventing loss of thousands upon thousands of Muslim lives by miserably failng to control opposition with peaceful tactics. This is what a neutral observer would conclude after listening carefully to this "sheikh".
Was this sheikh there taking notes when these events were happening? It certainly looks like it. Who is Abu Mikhnaf who reported this nonsense anyway? Just look at his "confidence". My village mullah has the same views as this Yale's graduate. Shme to his Madina University "education" system that churns out unthinking morons every year.
