Just remember: Raiden here is holding punches, weakened by his travels, not fully powered by the Jinsei and still will get wounded. Now you know why they erased Dark Raiden so quickly in the sequel.
Imagine had dark raiden was around in mk 11 after kronika change time.
I don't believe Dark Raiden is actually gone. I mean sure we SAW him get erased but he's probably not dead. Kano is for sure gone, but Raiden has literal JINSEI in him.
Don't remind me of that stupid decision... Dark Raiden should have been the main enemy in MK11, not some random time woman who had never been heard of before.

@@konstantinospsa3392 Well, they seem to be hinting at an Onaga's return (Deception) storyline next as in a few intro's, it sounds like Kung Lao is working for Onaga's Damashi spirit. And if Quan Chi is alive like a few intro's suggest (whether it's a past version or the current timeline version is somehow alive), then we might also have a potential for a Deadly Alliance storyline to proceed the Onaga resurrection. Just like certain things got set up in MKX, such as Noob Saibot still being alive, the intros in this one seem to set up the next story.
But I agree. Kronika should have been saved for another reboot after they ran out of ideas or something.

A majority of their deaths wasn't because of him. Only Liu Kang's death was his fault, he didn't know Lao's neck was gonna get snapped or the others dying by Sindel.
Fun fact: if raiden decided to fight at full power, earth realm is at risk✅
We all know Raiden held back hard, as he didn’t want to hurt them and hopefully rejuvenate them, he could have blasted them all into oblivion if he so wanted.
He was also weakened. At the beginning of the chapter when he was talking with Bo Rai Cho, he said that he had to go through other realms to disable Kano’s snare he left behind after he stole the amulet. So not only was he holding back, but they were fighting a weakened Raiden. Raiden at full strength and not holding back would’ve mopped the floor with them.
@@camerongreene3357 Both of you are right weakened and held back for raiden was already feeling guilty for killing lui kang by accident. Remember the beginning when quan chi and revenants enter the entrance raiden temple. Both raiden and fujin held back by striking lighting and wind towards the revenants feet as they moved in closer.

What really sad was the whole thing was orchestrated by Kronika, without Raiden even realising it.
When Raiden knew, he did the most unpredictable thing in front of Kronika's eyes: He saved Liu Kang and turned him into a God.
I find Raiden to be very poorly written. Yes, he's cool when you watch the story for the first, maybe even for the second time, but if you start thinking, then it turns out that Raiden is not thinking at all, and cosidering his powers shown in the scenes, he should have been able to win everything singlehandedly if he was only thinking and not making stupid decisions like here; he's obviously wounded, but we know he can heal others in seconds. Then why he wouldn't heal himself? MK9, all he had to do was to kill Shao Kahn, and everything suggests he could. MK 10- everything he had to do, was to kill all bad guys, and only first scenes in which he looks weak trick us into thinking he couldn't. MK11- basically the same story, except the stupid Kronika has god mode and can be killed only by Kang - that's how the story goes. A character is defeated only because we want him or her to be defeated. It seems that no one thought of some stable properties for characters. Raiden is weak or strong, holds back and is total idiot only because the writer couldn't be bothered to invent a story with consistent characters.

Shinnok was underrated, his subtle manipulation of raiden was so clever as he fed into his arrogance and pain through the use of his dead friends, and in the end he almost beats him in a way as he is changed into a brute like most of his own enemies were.
Which was instantly wiped away in MK11

Shinnok is the smartest of the villians. Tricked raiden into changing time, tricked shao khan into invading earth thinking the gods wouldn't do anything.
Raiden is my all time favorite character of MK. So original and such a great design. I root for him every time!

I love the fact that in all 3 last MKs in the final part Raiden is like ENOUGH OF THIS,goes full berserk and kicks everyone asses. Although in this one it is obvious he held back like a father who doesn't want to hurt his 2 sons

Honestly, Raiden could’ve dealt with them more easily. He could’ve banished or killed them if he truly wanted to, but because he feels responsible for what happened to them and not being there to prevent their deaths, he held back. After all the revenants are weaker than they were alive.
Dark Raiden would have done this Fastly and Easily as he is Mercy less .
And he dont consult to Elder Gods 😂😂

Light raiden for some reason holds back when fighting. Dark raiden would’ve eliminated all of them immediately.
Raiden could of killed them all but he cares for them and his good side always wins
After MK11 and MK1, I now no longer blame Raiden for his actions since all action that happens in our own very eyes are all the works of Kronika. She creates the destiny of each and every being in the whole universe. Everyone that dies, everyone that turns good or bad, are all the works of Kronika. I used to blame Raiden but not anymore, the more you take time to understand the origins of these consequences, the more you forgive and understand. They can't help it, especially when they were created and destined to be like this.
I stopped blaming Raiden after mk11. With the revelation of Kronika, i understood they have been playing a rigged game all along and with the introduction of mk1, my blame for Raiden dropped further.

I hate how Raiden is nerfed in story canon more than half the time. At least in this timeline...Technically he's a powerhouse OP planetary and even universal threat with messing with time and such. Yet they write him poorly sometimes. He should one-shot everyone here easily if he's not in the mood. The traveling realms to weaken him was such a plot device lol....

This is one of the things the movies (except annihilation we don't talk about that ) does very well making Raiden a powerhouse like the original movie and the 2021 where he's teleporting people without even being near them and such, banishing people to other realms etc that is the Raiden we need in the games.

Hope we can see Cetrion fight Shinnock one day, seen her fulfill the role she claim to have. Because i don't see her anywhere despite Shinnock is about to engulf all the realms in darkness and thus, upsetting greatly the balance she claim to protect.
Raiden is my fav character so my assessment might be bias. Raiden is not at full power, he got interrupted in the Jinsei and I think he's holding back because of his guilt, yet he still trounced those revenants. What a badass.

I wish that the MK storyline didn't send Raiden down a dark path. He has always been the unyielding beacon of light in the struggle between good and Evil. But I didn't much care for the MK9 story that had him seemingly become responsible for everyone getting killed on his quest to change the future.
I know Dark Raiden is a popular (and powerful character) but I personally have always HATED when a good guy is made into a villian. It would have been fine by me though if they had written him as being an alternate timeline Raiden and the one we get in MK11 after Kronika's meddling is the original timeline version. OR something along that line.
