- The first reference to Torre de Mendo Corvo appears in 1258, in the inquiries of D.Afonso III. It would then be a small village organized around a manor tower, whose church was dependent on Santa Cruz da Vilariça, a walled village located in Vilariça, donated by D.Sancho II in 1225. In this video we show the evolution of the creation of the new Town of Torre de Moncorvo, when D.Dinis transferred the charter of Santa Cruz da Vilariça to Torre de Moncorvo in 1285 and sought a new suitable place for its defence, with a castle and town protected by a wall.
