    To anyone considering watching, this one is a diamond in the rough. To the creator, thank you very much for sharing this articulate and concise analysis. Your exceptional work provides an astounding amount of insight into the processes occurring within the PS5 power supply, and switch mode power supplies in general, to anyone possessing only a basic understanding of the properties of the various individual components involved. And it does so within only a couple of hours. For me this was, both figuratively and literally, a game changer. Very much appreciated.

    Infinite thanks for this analysis. This content is priceless. I've been studying SMPS the last month and you dropping this video is just amazing for me.
    As a tip for anyone watching, I realized it's much better to follow the video pausing to read everything and then play the video and stop reading. Otherwise, at least for me, it's much harder to follow what you say. I'm amazed that you'd share these great guides for free, what an amazing job.
    It's also funny how toltecmerc really nailed much of his reverse engineering, as pretty much all he says and does matches with this video.
    Thankfully now I'll start to understand more deeply what he was saying and what he was seeing, as for a newbye like me in electronics, it gets complicated.

    That really was a deep and clear dive into the power supply for sure. The list of tools is useful but I actually think many workshops don´t even have all of them, I have everything and more except an electronic load or discharge tweezer, I just use other methods for that. as a mention it is also important to note that you are not really safe when you have an isolation transformer, if you manage to touch phase to neutral within that circuit or even ground to live if your tranny has a center tapped isolated ground you can get a shock anyway. But it provides more safety to get a shock from the mains voltage supply to ground. But many trust it too much I think

    • @fixmyappjim
      @fixmyappjim  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Thank you for your nice feedback and extra information about the isolation transformer. Thats why we have to take all safety tips seriously and not assume that it is safe. Gr. Jim

      Leuk dat je gekeken hebt inderdaad de SMPS van de playstation is op zich niet zo ingewikkeld en mooier nog je kunt componenten vervangen, sommige fabrikanten vullen vaak een witte lijm waardoor repareren niet rendabel is. Ik heb electronica gestudeerd. Gr. Jim

    • @fixmyappjim

    HI. I'm watching your video. I disassembled the PS5 power supply and I find 8.8 V DC at the output. Could you give me some advice?

    • @fixmyappjim
      @fixmyappjim  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi, so you have a lower output voltage. There can be multiple causes.
      First check if the main filter capacitor has +- 390V.
      Check if PWM driver IC is working
      Check Optoisolator and the feedback loop
      Check the voltage reference diode
      Check the health of the main and secundary capacitors
      Gr. jim

    This is 1st class tutorial/class/explanation i've seen. My PS5 is stuck at PS Logo and i get black screen after that. Could that be PSU issue since PS is getting more voltage after that phase? It turns on well. I can go to Safe Mode too. When i turn it on, i see PS logo and black screen following that. 30-60 seconds later, it turns off.

    • @fixmyappjim
      @fixmyappjim  Před 9 měsíci +1

      This could be anything. Overheating issue, bad NAND flash, SSD controller, Software corruption, bad power supply that fails under load, maybe reinstalling the firmware can help, a bad RAM memory. Beause the console does turn on and you see a picture all the standby and power on voltages are generated. Thank you for your reply. Gr. Jim
