Happy Birthday Travis. I hope your next 50 years have even more incredible stories!
This is cool Bday Present for Travis.
Happy Birthday to Travis. Love Travis' stories. Tell Travis that I believe Hollywood has destroyed and rebuilt a few more Cher's than General Lee's. 😎👍
It's so crazy to hear this story because I have heard the other side of the story from the owners in Washington. My buddy bought the car originally from a swap meet in Portland I believe for an almost unbelievably low price. The car was stolen a couple times, had some bad press and as mentioned recently sold it to a museum. When the car was stolen / repossessed in Indy the guy hired to haul the car disconnected the car hauler to pick up the owner at the airport. From all accounts it sounds like it has been a rollercoaster of emotions owning the car over the years, glad it went to a great home.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Like at that point some dude just got his car stolen when he had a clean title and everything. I'm surprised a repo order was even issued in the first place for it
@eskamobob8662 I mean to be fair, it seems like a very rare and weird circumstance where both parties had a title and valid claim of ownership to the car. It is a bit surprising a judge would sign of on it, but they're probably not expecting such a strange and convoluted circumstance.
Very cool to hear this story from someone other than they guy here in Washington state . He's sat across my desk here at the shop and talked with us about when the car was taken from him. It was almost unbelievable.
As soon as I saw the general Lee thumbnail I clicked on the video
Me too
Omg, I know the people in Washington that had it and then how it was taken from them. Every time I ask them about this over the past 15 years or so I never quite got a solid answer this all makes sense now.
So basically, the wife was being vindictive she did not want the car she just wanted to hurt her ex-husband....
That's what they all do right?
A buddy had a custom Camaro and wife took in the divorce even though he argued it wasn’t suited as a family car for small kids.
Classic story. Why do judges so often oblige?
& That's why we cant have nice things, Play nice Kiddies....
@@enginecrzy it’s fascinating isn’t it, people just keep getting married…
The Volo Auto Museum is about an hour and 10 minutes away from my house. Thanks Travis! I know where I'm going tomorrow.
Let me know what you see
Hoping that wheels up photo spawns the epic crossover sequel we all need
"The Fast and the Hazardous"
Or the Dukes and the Furious?
50 years young, Travis looks not a day over 40. Every time Travis has a story on VinWiki, I drop everything to watch it. Also being an Australian I've watched his Holden Commodore videos a couple of times
This was a fantastic story! Thanks for sharing. I loved the show as a kid, but I'm almost in tears that they used up 300+ cars during the 7 seasons.
Chargers were cheap in early 1980's. Wrecking them was very innocent at the time.
Travis Bell is awesome. I would love to have a beer with this dude and just have him tell storys. Such a cool dude.
His beretta fest story is what got me into the vinwiki rabbit hole, really cool stuff
Happy birthday Travis. We are so lucky to have you share all these great stories. I hope the next 50 years are filled with more great automotive adventures. Cheers from Canada.
I just wanted to say that I absolutely love listening to Travis's stories. He has a way of telling them to make you feel like you were there with him rather than just hearing the story. I have listened to all his posted stories already and I love every one of them.
Happy Birthday Travis. Looked like it was repossessed at the 2006 Dukesfest in Nashville according to the pics in this video . Are you telling me my family just missed it? Arggg.
Could listen to Mr Bell tell general lee stories all day 👌👌
Happy birthday Travis! Appreciate all the cool stories you have cared enough to share!
Awesome story.
Glad to see it's in a museum without any more drama.
Happy birthday Travis! I was at your event back in '03. It was such an incredible experience. I didn't get to meet Rich but I did get to be around him while he was working on the wheel standers. Out of all the dukesfest shows and events I've been to, travis's '03 show was the most memorable. I've never been to a show like that before. I didn't own a digital camera then most of the pictures I took have been lost but I still remember. What a great experience!
Happy Birthday Travis! As a long time Mopar lover its great to hear this story come to an end.
I remember the article in MCG when Wayne Wooten picked up like 17 of these things from Universal!
Travis, Happy birthday! The Dukes of Hazard was also really big here (in Portugal), so I always love to hear you stories!
Happy birthday Travis! Love your stories and here’s to hoping for many more to come!!
Happy Birthday Travis. You and Chris tell the best stories. Somehow I have seen several Geo Trackers since I watched your last video about the yellow one you tracked down.
Travis always has great stories! I live in Spokane and heard about this car many many years ago...
Happy Birthday Travis, that story was f*#@ing awesome!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Happy Birthday Travis, thank you for all your stories you share with us!
Happy Birthday Travis, thanks for all the stories, past & future 😎👍🏻🎉
Travis!!! I absolutely love your story telling, brother. I hear you left the Pitts in Daytona? Was he able find his way home? 😉
She shouldn’t have even been able to sell the car if the case wasn’t finalized. Talk about a mess
I'm glad that story had a good ending. Plus, I learned just now that Volo auto museum is only 45 miles from my house! I'll have to make a trip out there sometime.
Happy birthday Travis, here's to 50 more years of stories
I remember the magazine article thanks for posting this no one believed me
Happy birthday Travis, have a great and blessed day brother. No one better to tell this story...
Happy Birthday Travis!! Your stories are always top notch!
Happy Birthday Mr. Bell, thank you for all your videos
Oh Darn!! Now I gotta go to the Volo Museum...AGAIN!!!! LOL. WOW!! What a story. I'd heard bits and pieces of it over the years.I;m glad to see ownership has finally been sorted out and The General is in a good home now. Happy Birthday Travis, and many more.
Not to be negative but the more Travis and less Casey has made me love VinWiki again! Such a great dude with just amazing stories! No super cars just quirky and movie cars that he seems genuinely grateful that he owns! Definitely someone that feels like how most guys feel about the cars they want/own.
Happy Birthday Travis!
What a crazy General Lee story, with a happy ending
I've been threw the volo Museum befor, is not that far from where I live and let me tell you it's an all-day event to get through this place it's awesome
Neat story! I knew nothing about this car. Thanks for sharing Travis
👏👏👏 Thank you Travis.
Great story, as always.
Happy Birthday Travis.
It may be your day, but you’ve given us all an excellent present with this story.
I’ve always wanted to see this bad ass General Lee!! I have the magazine articles and wondered what happened to it.
I remember seeing this in one of my dads Mopar magazines. I always wondered what happened to it.
Happy Birthday Travis! You’re a gift to all of us who love everything automotive
Happy Birthday Travis!!!! My favorite story is about the labeled state trooper car!!! Wishing you the best. Thanks for sharing the tales.
FULL CODE, dude, FULL CODE!
Happy 50th Travis! Here's to 50 more🍻
Happy Birthday to Travis Bell!!! Great General Lee story!!! 🎂🎇🎇🎉🎈🎁
I have to believe the original shenanigans that wrested the car from its builder and owner were far more involved and convoluted than is known by anyone willing or able to discus it now. If it had gone thru a legitimate seizure and auction process all prior titles, liens and claims would have been invalidated and a new title issued. But that's way too simple to be the true story.
Yes, something is missing. Hard to imagine a car could be repossessed with only a paper title. And then kept for years without being considered theft and having charges pressed.
There is a national database of vehicle titles that states share, but that wasn't started until 1992. I wonder if it was still titled in the builders name somewhere.
I always got the impression that the legal drama was somehow more complex than it seemed. After the car was repossessed in Nashville, Rich said that the only way to get the car back was to hire a lawyer and go to court. I always wondered what advice a lawyer would give him about this whole mess. Especially when he claimed to have had an extensive paper trail on this car, including an order from a federal judge that stated that the car was still his after it had been taken from him.
WOW! What a wild sequence of events that car has been through. I can’t think of another car ownership situation/issue like that with those circumstances surrounding it. Such a crazy story lol🤷😄 Lots of drama…..
Happy Birthday, Travis! That was a great story!
I will for sure go to the Volo Auto Museum. I love that place. I’ve been there countless times as I’m only an hour away. Awesome story.
Thank you for sharing this story Travis, very interesting…
Happy Birthday Travis!
I love your stories.
That man died from a broken heart. Shame on you who was ever involved in that. Couldn't leave it alone. What a vindictive person.
Happy birthday Travis! To me you have always been the dukes guy I remember seeing clear back on hot rod TV
Seen it at the Volo auto museum, and had no idea about the back story. If anyone is ever in northern Illinois. You got to go to this museum. Its an amazing place. Huge inventory of cars!!!
Cool story, thank you Travis Bell.
Happy birthday Travis!
Fantastic story, thanks for sharing it.
Regards,
I , my best friend and our sons were there at Dukesfest 2006 , I remember seeing this car
That's amazing! I live 33min away from there, I was trying to justify going now I found my reason!!
Man, I've been getting the "you might be interested" n it kept showing that museum. It's a sign. The General Lee was calling me like the blown up Brian O'Connor Eclipse at the car museum in Vegas.
I’m not understanding something. If Rich had the title and the other plate and had a repo order….how could the Washington people take the car back again? Rich’s title is correct and he has the other plate. How were the Washington people able to take the car back and keep it?
*If I've understood correctly;* The Washington title they were issued was dated later than the California title Rich kept; meaning that it took precedence/priority and _functionally_ invalidated the California one.
And while the reasons for the transfer of ownership that the later title was issued was decided to have not been entirely valid, the title itself was. And because the currently valid title assigns ownership; that was more than sufficient for the -bureaucracy- court to order a repossession.
Just because the law says that a title shouldn't have been (legally) invalidated, doesn't mean that it hasn't been invalidated *and* need to be reissued - so that the -bureaucracy- government(*s*) involved are less likely to be confused.
@@LynxSnowCat the real owner should have gotten all of his ducks in a row.
@@makeitpay8241 or should you say Dukes in a row.
Happy Birthday Travis!
I live in Spokane, Wa and didn't know that was here at some point. Bastards kept it quiet
Happy birthday!!! One of the coolest stories

A Great Story, and A Great time for a Birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉. Thx
Lets hear the story now from the WA folks perspective.
Saw it a few times at LACR in the 80’s.
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Mr. Bell
Happy birthday Travis bell I love your stories and what you have done for the car community and scene your blues brothers story is my favorite
I got to see the car at Volo a few years ago. Very cool.
Given the choice of having the show or having those Chargers sorry I'm going to have to pick the Chargers, can't belive they destroyed that many of them.
It really does kind of ruin the show for me a little bit.
I'm a NC homeowner and I believe there was a form stating that there is no HOA involved. I wouldn't have bought if there was.
He stole his car back,if I'd been the present owner I'd lost my shit and heads would have rolled, that's f#@ked up
This story was all over the Mopar world in the late '90's-early 2000's...glad to hear the end of it all. Renaud brothers & Ray Claridge would also be good to tell Dukes stories
Happy 50th Birthday, Travis Bell!!!
Happy Birthday, Travis Bell! No we’re the same age. I love the ending to this General Lee story!
I live 15 minutes away from Volo. I will go check it out!
Happy birthday Travis
Happy Birthday Travis! 🎂
Happy Birthday to Travis!
After looking at Thumbnail don't know why thought Travis might pop up , was not disappointed .. Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday Travis
5:52 Nah, if I had won that case and the car had been sold. The person who sold it would have 2 options get it back by ANY means necessary or give me everything you have
Happy Birthday!!!! I appreciate your stories! Way better than rich kid productions stories!
Ty!
