My hours were cut drastically and many staff were laid off and fired. I quit my unstable job and moved overseas. My total healthcare cost for my 2 years in Thailand has been $75 dollars. The expats I worked with couldn’t believe how expensive our healthcare is. One Thai lady said so, if you don’t have money to pay you die.Even in a third world country, there are government hospitals that they can go to and get taken care of at a reasonable price. Healtcare became unafordable because of Medicaid subsidies, excessive regulation and market monopoly of the American Doctor Associations. There are doctors all over the world crazy to come here and give services to people with much cheaper prices but they are not allowed to do so. And the government hospitals are not free. have you noticed how manufactured products are so expensive in Thailand ? There are taxes that creep in during all the production chain of the products. You don't see, but 40% to 50% of the price of the product is taxes. You pay for that hospital but just in another way. A way that you can't control, for a service that you can't choose. The government does that for you.

For the record, a " Neoliberal " is NOT the same as a " Liberal " as I suspect more than a few people on these pages may think ... " a modified form of liberalism tending to favor free-market capitalism " is one explanation, but it can mean more ... Ronald Reagan was a good example - free (and unfettered) Capitalism, deregulation to help Business, AT THE EXPENSE of Worker's rights, pay rates, clean air and water Legislation and so much more. His British counterpart Margaret Thatcher did similar damage in England and the last Forty Years of major Corporate profit, went hand-in-hand with Wage Stagnation ... that AIN'T no Liberal, folks !

How do you change your life style to no longer need a home, food, transportation, education for your kids, medical care, etc? Sure, I can recycle my plastic garbage, but even minimalist living is expensive and is more a fad than a real commitment. I see young affluent hip young people advocating minimalism on CZcams. But these are people with money to burn who are simply advocating a hip fad. They may sit on the floor, but in back of them is a $500 bike leaning against the wall and a kitchen with appliances a chef would love.

Italian theorist Franco Bifo Berardi asks in his book Precarious Rhapsody - " How can we oppose the decimation of the working class and it systemic depersonalization, the slavery that is affirmed tacitly by all those who work for a living in the 21st century ? This is the question that is posed with insistence by whoever still has a sense of human dignity. Nevertheless the answer does not come out because the form of resistance and of struggle that were efficacious in the twentieth century no longer appear to have the capacity to spread and consolidate themselves... Without this proximity and this continuity, we lack the conditions for the cellularized bodies to become community. No wave can be created, because the workers do not share their existence in time, and behaviors can only become a wave when there is a continuous prox- imity in time that info-labor no longer allows."

How come american socio political conditions produced such an aberrant movement to come to power? blaming it all on Russia won't solve that question.
