I read somewhere the only way to make that dilemma a win win was to say you’ll give up the car so everyone else gets one, on the condition that whoever wins the game gives you their car. That way you get a car even if you lose, if you win it doesn’t matter because you won, and you don’t come across as altruistic to the jury because it’s still a selfish act so you don’t become a jury threat and people don’t have that incentive to vote you out. Still, if you are smart enough to come up with that plan on the spot you look like a really good schemer so you might come across as a threat anyway so you still can’t win bc you’d be voted out. At least you’d get a car this way I guess. Tough spot for Cindy to be in!

Reason the car is such a "curse" is because of how big of a reward it is. It's a massive monetary reward, and it opens peoples eyes.. It makes people hyper aware suddenly of what's going on with the winner. It's the sense that "I already lost out on 1 major reward... and now potentially a million dollars", where as before it feels more mutual "we're all fighting for the same reward", and even if someone keeps winning over the others, they aren't instantly percieved as a major threat or a big problem, because the rewards are vastly smaller. However a car... that's a major deal.
Colby got to play the game the longest besides Tina. He got to go on multiple reward challenges, like scuba diving the great barrier reef. He also won a car and ended up getting second place and 100K. I think even though he didnt "win" he still made out like a bandit
From what I read, the 2nd or 1st place winner don’t get the daily pay. Everyone else does until the award becomes more. I’m sure returning players made much more guarantees though
Nah Rob and Amber survived the car curse in my eyes. They both got new cars, Amber won the million, and they got married lol, they set themselves up into a win/win situation with themselves as the final two and they're the reason why henceforth suspected couples were heavily targeted
Game or not.. it was messed up how Tom and Katie treated Ian in the end. It was too much. They literally mentally broke the poor kid. To the point that he willingly chose to give away the game he worked toward for 39 days, just 1 day shy, and after standing on a little thing in the water for like 13 hrs. He didn't deserve that, and idk what the general consensus is on this subject, but personally I thought Ian deserved the win just as much as Tom. I would have been happy with either of them winning.
If he'd decided to drop within the first couple hours I'd say he was noble, but I think he was dead exhausted and knew he was about to fall, so he manipulated them into forgiving him before his muscles collapsed.
Fun fact, in the latest episode of Australian survivor there was a car up for grabs for a reward challenge. This guy named Simon won and when he was interviewed he said something along the lines of “I hope I can end the car curse.” I think it’s funny even survivor contestants know about it lol. Colby didn't really seem to be effected by the car curse and more just threw the game. His game didn't start tanking around the time he won the car but awhile after and he didn't seem cursed in anyway like how Lex got sick out of nowhere

The real reason they retired the car reward I believe is that the taxes on the car have to be paid by April and the car winner on even numbered season's wouldn't get to keep the car in fact Dreamz didn't get to keep his car. I assume he was given money instead.

This video made me realize how much World War II-era equipment and wrecks were just lying around in the background of Survivor Palau, but I have to wonder how much of it was moved in to look cool by the production team. Season 10 filmed in Koror (yes, that's where the tribe's name came from). Of the Palau islands, only Peleliu saw any fighting during the 1944 invasion thereof, Operation Stalemate. Peleliu is a hellish and inhospitable place with next to no natural water, a fact which is mentioned in any serious account of the battle, and is basically a dry coral reef. I highly doubt they put players on that place, especially when you consider that it's not even legally part of Koror. Therefore, the vast majority of the relics on screen are probably displaced from where they were originally, which as a lover of history kind of infuriates me.
Also what many don't realize, is that since the car is considered income, you have to pay about 30% of the car's value back in cash out of pocket to the IRS

It still baffles me why Dreamz didn't even consider just keeping the necklace and offer Yauman the lifeline of a tie in return. watching the marquesas season with sean kind of made me sad. i haven't seen the season, just what's in this video, but wow that seemed race related. to essentially say "we're from the south and he's from harlem, we don't wanna be around him" was awful. i'm glad he got the car 💗
Idk if it’s race related or what, but the women isn’t from the south. Vermont is very much a northern state.
They should have continued giving cars away, and thus the curse. Then a Car Curse season, where, of course, they give a car away at some point.

It still baffles me why Dreamz didn't even consider just keeping the necklace and offer Yauman the lifeline of a tie in return. That seemed like the obvious thing to do the second I heard about the deal. He also had the very valid excuse he didn't know he was giving up a spot at Final Tribal at the time (they didn't see the end of Cook Islands and didn't know about the Final 3 twist).
Jeff Probst called it the Final Immunity Challenge so Dreamz definitely knew giving up immunity would be giving Yau-Man the million

I'm honestly impressed by how consistently shitty the cars were, with the exception of the Vette, and even that is pretty basic for a sports car.
So I watched a lot of survivor and every single player in the game was a thief, liar, sob, mf etc. Is there no one who fairly played the game and won? I mean getting into coalitions and all that but backstabbing, making a mens deal and break it...?!??
Multiple winners have played clean games.
More than half the people were evil and half the people suffered the penalty of resentment.
I don't think that winning the car has anything to do with winning the game I think it comes down to who has earned the money nothing to do with a car

What no one ever mentions is that the winner has to pay all the taxes on the car.
All the players get paid for being on the show, more $ the longer they remain in the game. Pretty big bucks for final five too.
How could you not give everyone a car.... even if you don't win the million the person who did would probably gift you a car.
