    Bonehead on bass, no Guigs? Didn’t make the gig?

    • @aidanjackfinnecy2293
      @aidanjackfinnecy2293 Před 10 měsíci +9

      Guigs left the band briefly, was replaced by Scott McLeod, who very quickly quit, leaving Bonehead to fill in on bass until Guigs could be coaxed into returning.

      i saw them for the first of eight times this trip when they played Letterman. Guigsy was exhausted so he sat out the tour last second and the replacement bassist split back to his GF as all the drugs and ladies freaked him out is my take lol. the Roseland show the day before with McLeod was to this day the loudest and craziest show i’ve ever seen, but far from the best. i saw REM in Philly the next night and i still couldn’t hear from the Oasis show ears ringing. the last time i saw them four years later was the second night of the NYC Be Here Now shows and i walked out because it was exactly the same as the night before and they were a legendarily boring live band. once the high of the drugs wore off -check out ‘Gas Panic’’- there was only victory lap after victory lap with this band…

      @@abcxyz53 you are making assumptions about my American-ness, and i won't sink to your level and insult your Britishness. no i don't need a band to jump around to keep my attention, i just need them to be able to play their instruments well and have good songs they can stand behind. have you seen Oasis? as I wrote above, i saw them eight times, before they quit the drugs, Noel is on the record as saying the songs were too long on Be Here Now as there was too much cocaine. maybe the drugs stopped working and made it worse on the Be Here Now tour when i walked out, to quote Richard Ashcroft. I saw The Verve live twice on the Urban Hymns tour, the first time with NIck McCabe so I know great live music without a band jumping around. The Verve were a great live band...
      a band is only as good as their songs, and their ability to sing and play them. i make music so i know. awards are part of the industry of selling art to the public. Oasis captured the hearts of a generation, and I know as my heart was one of those hearts. they had no heart by the end of the 90's, just a bunch of drug-fueled tunes that their fans were attached to. some songs sounded better live, some sounded worse. AND THEY ALL SOUNDED THE SAME lol, which was not true on the records. Liam was a great front person, but Noel doesn't even want to be in the same room as him anymore, and I can't say I blame him.
      Oasis was great as they were a working-class band with a lot of sing a long anthems, and if you got high or lagered up you could lose yourself in the crowd as you sang along and danced and cheered. Oasis was also robotic, and Noel as the actual band leader punched the clock when they went on stage. it was just a coke-fueled formula they perfected and it was only exciting if you hadn't seen it. once i saw it enough and the song quality lagged, i was over it. i watched a video of "Who Feels Love" yesterfday and i thought "what a bad song" lol.
      good English live bands i've seen? how about Radiohead 17 times between 1996 and 2011. that's a great live band. and only one of them sort of jumped around. how about Blur? a much better live band i've seen eight times. so many more British ones that blew me away... Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Massive Attack, The Charlatans... and the biggest rock star leading a great band I ever saw was Pulp and Jarvis Cocker. and he jumped around A LOT 😜

      @omkarlewis8280 Před 5 měsíci

      @@zjbskhb listening to it right now, it's excellent until the chorus it's in a real groove and the production is great. LIam's solo vocal on the chorus is weak. there are far better songs on that album, 'Go Let It Out', 'Where DId It All Go Wrong', "gas Panic' is a masterpiece i wish i had seen live... but 'Who Feels Love' isn't a geat composition... if you love it, that's great... i hope the sun shines on you your whole life and you feel love...

      Took it to a different place, though, didn’t they? These days (the 1990s included), there’s nothing new. All you can do is put a personal stamp, no matter how small, on a familiar envelope. And these guys accomplished that much, at the very least.

    • @ikemreacts
      @ikemreacts Před měsícem

      @@modernmilner9836 Nah. I refuse to believe that. Before Oasis came along, copying others was totally frowned upon. It was them and Elastica that first started ripping off huge chunks of their forebears which is all the proof you need that rock and roll really finished in the 90s. Yes, I know The Jam did the Beatles with Taxman/ Start!, but it was a curio and oddity, because nobody did that, and it wasn't actually their method - or any band back then. Now everything sounds the same. And I'm actually a fan of Morning Glory as a song - don't get me wrong - and cracking performance.
