  • In February 2023, a quiet community in Ohio was blindsided by disaster when a train derailed and authorities decided to unleash a plume of toxic smoke over the town in an attempt to avoid an explosion. Days later, the residents and the media thought the story was over, but in fact it was just beginning. What unfolded in East Palestine is a cautionary tale for every town and city in America. When any big chemical burn or spill happens around you leave
If you work in a chemical plant n there are unsafe levels of the chemicals in the air, quite n leave
I worked at a chemical plant n there were times there were unsafe levels of chemicals in the air, I quit, I needed some money at that time in my life or I would of quit earlier, I worked there about 2 months
After I realized there were unsafe levels of chemicals in the air at times, I quit within a few weeks
I watched these CZcams videos on chemicals n one said if you can smell it in the air then it is unsafe levels
I was on the packaging line, it wasn't as bad as with the guys mixing the chemicals in the big pots, they had on masks but that only helps so much
I told a few of the other employees they should get out of there also cause of the unsafe chemicals in the air, but they seemed not to care much
There were a few things going on with it being unsafe with the chemicals
Sometimes also a spill would happen n someone got the chemicals spilled on them some like when they were trying to fix the hoses chemicals came through
If the chemical got on you, they would run water over that area of your body to get it off you as much as they could
One guy it spilled on him n he took his shirt off n rinsed that part of his body off with water from a hose
Also at times there were big garage doors they left shut at times n they should of been opened more to let the chemicals in the air out n more fresh air in
When they mixed this one chemical it got so bad in the plant we all tried to go outside until the smelled in the air went away, you couldn't breathe that good, but a few people doing the stuff with the chemical had to stay n endure it
Very unsafe at that chemical plant at times

I live all the way East in New Hampshire, just about as far East in the US you can go from this disaster besides the state of Maine, and also just happen to be located right underneath where the weather patterns from Ohio come from. For the whole week during this disaster, the rain left a white film on all our vehicles and dark surfaces outside. ALL parking lots that had rain puddles had a rainbow color liquid floating around in the puddles, and I don't believe it was fuel or oil products.
The fact that we in NH, five states and a 10 hour drive away from Ohio, were [likely] seeing the environmental ramifications from this disaster, means Ohio and surrounding Pennsylvania must be absolutely affected in the long term. I pray for you all.

    • @GigaChad-dm8ce
      @GigaChad-dm8ce Před 5 dny +1

@@neilcanton8661The actual cause of the crash was the bearing that was overheated and worn out which should’ve been detected by the track detectors as it was on fire for at least 20 minutes leading up to the derailment. The main cause of the derailment is Norfolk Southern which along with the 3 other major freight companies are seeing record profits, but have let go of their many of their employees with precision scheduled railroading which only benefits the shareholders with short term profits. With PSR there’s now less upkeep on maintaining the railway/trains, less employees, and now trains that are twice as long which is a big problem for efficiency as side rails that were designed previously off the main track don’t fit the main train which is twice as long. So other trains can’t pass/wait the rails, along with Amtrak. The Department of Transportation has the Federal Railroad Administration under it’s control but they don’t have much influence as they are underfunded so don’t have much regulatory influence along with not being in control of the railways which are duopoly with Union Pacific and BNSF west of the Mississippi and Norfolk Southern and CSX to the east. All the railroad employees went on strike recently which was adverted by not much was done for the employees who work long hours sometimes as even much as 100 hours a week but more commonly around 40-60 hours with them having to be on notice from anywhere to 90 mins to 3 hours while they’re on call even while their asleep. I think if the government where to nationalize the railways and lease them out to private companies that would be best as the government can have direct regulatory influence which could benefit Amtrak and passenger rail even though there should be separate track for that which could accommodate higher speeds and no or minimal freight trains. Also these freight companies spend a lot of money on lobbying so both parties are compromised on this issue in my opinion but you’ll have but more democratic party officials will talk about this than compared to Republicans. The response after the derailment was pretty bad too considering the chemicals that were part of the derailment, I’ve heard that the Ohio governor didn’t care too much about the chemicals as a lot of them flew east into Pennsylvania with the wind not sure if that’s true though.

companies will never ever stress safety over profits themselves. When they "do", its because the consequences of disasters like this are so harsh as to make it unprofitable.

Every body will have a different reaction depending on their immune system and nervous system. It’s a problem solved with antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers that are inexpensive and have low side effects. I am not a dr but happy to answer any questions.
