Maybe the speaker in the alarm blew and they re-used the old sound-chip? I know here in the US with most of the electronic bells, you can swap the sound cards in them to give them a different tone, even between different models if you know what you're doing.
WOW those new Yodalarm YO3's sounds like Yodalarm YO5's (the big ones that are at Saltmashe etc.). especially the track side ones that are at Barkston Junction ECML. If you've seen SteveDD1's video of this crossing, you'll know what the old alarms sounded like.

I didn't think newer Yodalarm YO3 models would have that weird alternating tone like the Yodalarm YO5 models do.
