    Hello Everyone! Its Tiffany with Thrifting Vegas. I shop at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and discount stores for items I can resell for a profit on online platforms like eBay, Poshmark and Offer-Up. In this video I shopped at one of my favorite Goodwills on two different days. On the second day Goodwill was restocking their store for Christmas in July! Thrift with me as I find vintage Christmas treasures, a crocheted wall hanger, antique glass, a mystery Japanese serving dish and a Mary Englebreit cushion. Stay tuned for my haul where I show you everything I found, what I paid and what I expect to get for it......so, lets go thrifting!
    Please like, subscribe and hit the bell to get a notification when I upload a new video!

    Hi! The Japanese rotating condiments tray is to serve dry fruits and dry biscuits and wafers to guests with their tea. You shouldn't put anything wet in it because the base of the tray is wood.

    I lived in Las Vegas in the 90's, I loved to go to the Goodwill on Charleston. I gave all my winter clothes away when I moved there. Then decided to move back. Lots of people moved there from cold states, and I was going back to one, so I was able to replace my coats with more fashionable ones. If I had stayed there, I could have furnished my entire house from Goodwill. I'm glad to find you, and now I'm subscribed. I can live and shop there vicariously now. Blessings.

      Also good for ranch or onion dip in the center and celery sticks, baby carrots, zucchini and/or cucumber slices, and broccoli and/or cauliflower mini florets. Or make a relish tray with assorted gherkins(sweet and dill), olives (green and black), pickled veggies, giardiniera, etc. or put out garnishes for cocktails in the end of a self-serve bar with cocktail onions, olives, lemon/orange/lime twists, maraschino cherries, with a cup in the center for stirrers and decorative drink skewers or umbrellas. I left out the other obvious (to me) one - cubes of different cheeses around the outside with sliced )or diced) pepperoni or salami piled in the center. Or small rolls of thinly sliced Parma ham or prosciutto standing upright like small soldiers in the middle. Plate or bowl of assorted crackers and toast squares to the side.

    Love the MCM Japanese rotating condiment tray! It's an innovation on the traditional Japanese lacquered lidded and divided dish which had individual curved dishes around a circular one in the middle set on a flat round tray. The raised pedestal, Lazy Susan, and plastic insert-as-one-piece are changes, probably for the export market. In contemporary versions the divider is often built into the base and the raised Lazy Susan is gone.

    I lived in Japan. The Japanese lacquer serving dish is for New Years foods. They are usually pickled foods and rice so wives don't have to cook during the New Years holidays. They are all preserved foods. My friend sometimes served rolled sushi in it.
    Most are square lacquer. I received rice, starchy potatoes, sour seaweed tied in bows, carrots, fish (almost candied) chestnuts, ginko nuts on long bamboo sticks.

We just had 2 new stores opened in the last 2 months, and was happy, cause I thought ours would look like yours now!! Stuff is thrown all over the store! I would love yours, just peaceful just looking at all the items!! God Bless, and good hunting!!

    That Japanese "serving dish" looks like a fancy vegetable tray to me. I have a similar ceramic blue one. You put dip in the middle section and veggies like cut up broccoli, carrots, celery, etc. In the sections around the dip. Very common where I live (Northern MN).

  • @98slp
    @98slp Před 2 lety

    It's called a Lazy Susan. You put different things in each section. Like celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. Put it in the middle of the table and people can take out what they want. They are great. Then you put dip in the middle compartment fir snacks.

    I'm thinking the Japanese lazy susan would be great for different kinds of sushi, with little ceramic dishes in the middle holding soy sauce, wasabi horseradish and pickled ginger. Or, mochi! Perhaps trinkets or crafting items. What a versatile piece 👏

    You are so lucky to have cheap prices at your Goodwills. The cheapest price I have ever seen in Oregon is
    $.99. The usual lowest price is $1.99.

    • @stellersjay1825
      @stellersjay1825 Před 3 lety

      Yup! I'm in Oregon too. I just learned that there are two regions (in Western OR anyway) starting from the PDX region down to about Eugene I think, then below that there's a different operation. In Medford you get the prices like the ones in Las Vegas. Pretty far for me, though.

      I’m sorry that you don’t have access to a car now. I hope where you live there are other means of transportation available. Try calling the local bus service to see if they have access for you, the local senior service (if you meet their age requirement). When you speak to them, ask for any additional referrals they could suggest.

    The serving tray I believe is for chips, pretzels, etc and the circle ib the middle is for a dip. You could also it for serving crudites such as cut celery, carrots, cauliflower and/or broccoli florets and again with a dip in the middle.
