    I heard that Superman could not be seen doing ads, so only "Clark Kent" was seen eating Corn Flakes and such. I loved the Yoo Hoo Swiss Cream sandwich ad, they had good voices, and I loved the cute little cartoon calf in the Bosco commercial. Always liked Speedy Alka Seltza and Buster Keaton

    Absolutely love the Lifebuoy ad. The woman's face when she develops the horns.. LOLLOL I love vintage commersial. World was so much simpler then, and the commercials were polite, funny, and even when they sort of fudged over the truth, you just felt certain that they could make your world a better one ;) We've gotten so jaded these days. I'm sure that the people back then were aware that the admen were trying to sell them a product. They tried harder to entertain you, I think.

    • @TimelordR
      @TimelordR Před 2 lety +1

      @@TimelordR No doubt it would fly. Lucifer's had a pretty fair run... Make it online accessible and it'd be a winner, especially if it trys to be all edgy, ironic, and bemusedly self aware. Once it goes manga and anime... woosh off to the bank. If you've any talent. you might want to get on that :)
      Not being a total git here either... Though I was kidding around a little, I'm sure the right person could take that idea and do really well, in today's markets and audiences. Cheers :)

    • @michaelpalmieri7335
      @michaelpalmieri7335 Před 8 lety +4

      I used to think that "medicine men" remark referred to doctors. But now, I suspect it was really a sarcastic allusion to the very first Americans, the Indians. After all, each tribe had its own medicine man, and it was the Native Americans who taught the white man how to use tobacco. It sort of reminds me of a joke I saw in "Mad" magazine many years ago which said that the Indians are getting even for all the injustices the whites had committed against them all these years because "they taught paleface how to smoke." This, of course, was a reference to all the diseases caused by tobacco-smoking, like cancer.

    Even in spite of racism, most of us lived better lives then. There are things today that are just as bad as racism, but we don't have a solid foundation of family and support and values to fall back on. Those of us who lived then, regardless of our color know the difference between then and now. Big homes today but nobody home. Neighborhoods are empty because the kids are all at daycare. Obesity because the kids don't get outside and play. Children are not allowed a Childhood.

      True...Americans ate more BUTTER, cream, and processed sugar then than we 'health-conscious' of today...and were generally THINNER. Kids didn't park it right after school with cable TV and/or video games, they went outside, played pickup games of baseball and football, and girls played hopscotch and jumped rope (save for the tomboys that were often better than most of the boys at baseball and football!). Kids played outside until it got dark or Mom dragged them in, kicking and screaming, to eat dinner.
      There was little of what we consider 'fast food' until about the mid-60's. Even then, due to most families making it on the father's income, going out to eat was not only a luxury, done maybe twice a month, you 'dressed up', jacket and tie for men and boys, women and girls wore a nice dress, and you sat down and WAITED for your meal...and didn't whip out the smartphone and ignore everyone else!

Kids could also play outside and all over the block but with their friends, other children who happened to be new to the block and/or neighborhood, children how happened to be there at sa particular time and in their friends' houses without ever being kidnapped or thinking of being kidnapped. Becasuse of this trust kidnappeings did happen but not offen, since parents, families, school, Churches, government, School Films warned the children of various age groups about kidnappings. The people who worked in a kids' sschool, the kids' friends parents, and the entire adult family spanked and/or gave paddlings to kids when they misbehaved and everyone accepted and encouraged spanking and/or paddling to thier kids and the kids of other people by themselves and by anyone else they knew and trusted.

You messed up in school and got a paddling you can bet your bottom dollar you would get another from your father. You showed respect for your parents,elders, teachers, Policemen-if you didn't you knew what awaited you when you got home.We ate our sweets, drank our pop and stayed skinny in the process because we played hard and used up those calories. We wasn't allowed to spend hours watching TV not even on Saturday mornings.I recall around Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays while having a tradional family dinner my Grandfather only told us kids one time to settle down.. Ignore that simple warning and pay the price-all of us paid because we was into it together as a group. Oddly enough us boys got into trouble far more then the girls. LOL!
