The Black River & Western Railroad purchased their venerable American Locomotive Company-built 2-8-0 “Consolidation #60 in 1963 from the Great Western Railway of Colorado. Throughout its career, the locomotive has served well as the primary power for passenger excursions on the line from Flemington, NJ to Lambertville, NJ, and even venturing out to the Whippany Railway Museum and Long Island, NY to pull passenger trains. As a way to open the 2022 steam season on the Black River & Western, and to reminisce about the early years on the BR&W, the railroad played host to a photography event, which brought the engine back to its 1972 appearance with white walls, rounded rectangle accents, and “Black River & Western” on the tender. This video covers the event in detail from day and into the night, as the 2-8-0 struts her stuff on the rails she’s called home for almost 60 years. Now, please enjoy this exciting video brought to you, in conjunction with Dan Drennen, Oren Helbok and Ryan Gerhardt, by Blue Comet Productions!
This video was filmed in April, 2022.
