From a performance by Angelique Kidjo to an emotional acceptance speech by Lanny SMITH, this year's GUBA Awards was filled with amazing moments! Watch as we capture these incredible moments on camera and celebrate the incredible achievements of the African diaspora!
Grow, Unite, Build, Africa (GUBA) Awards is a non-profit Pan-African, Business and Innovation Award instituted to reward, and celebrate the excellence and innovation of African individuals and organisations in the diaspora and back home, that work towards the advancement, empowerment, and progression of the African community in the Diaspora.
This year marks exactly 14 years since GUBA Enterprise set out to honor outstanding men and women in Africa and the Diaspora.
The GUBA Awards 2023
The GUBA Awards this year seek to celebrate historical heroes/heroines. Under the theme ‘Honouring Beacons of Excellence and Inspiration’ the Awards strive to convey the power of determination and focus.
If ever there was a time to unite and celebrate the best of diversity, it is now. It is incredibly important to recognize the achievements of role models and community organizations across the world that deserve recognition for their work and impact, so that we as Africans, can tell our own stories.
The GUBA Awards, therefore, aim to reward individuals who continue to persist and show great courage within their various fields.

Thank you! 😊
Dentaa good call to change the name to "Grow, Unite, Build Africa" Awards. Obviously a Ghana-focused award scheme is fine and serves its purpose, but if the ambition is a broader narrative about Africa as a whole, then a focus on a particular region would be parochial. And, frankly, I think your talent and capacity is beyond any one nation. Now the reality (and irony) is that leading from the front both allows one to be the voice for "all" so to speak, but also requires some sacrifice of one's own narrative. Speaking for Africa will mean a lesser focus on Ghana specifically, but if you aim to have a broader reach then it is what it is.
Well done Dentaa, I love it but I didn't hear about the program at all.
Ghana bound. 🇬🇭
Hi Dentaa. Amazing work! I’m a Zambian American trying to reach out via email. So far two addresses have bounced back. What’s the best way to reach you? Thank you in advance.
