Can I ask you for a recommendation about some Great guy likes you who records birds songs ?? or reptiles Thanks
I just LOVE your vlog series. Youre such an amazing, positive people. Videos are super high quality! I discovered your channel some time ago, but it grows so well! All the best for you two!
Heya!! Ah thank you so much for letting us and we really love creating videos and recording sounds and it is so refreshing to know that you enjoy it! We are not stopping and working on new videos.
I am a photographer getting into recording nature and a wild variety of things. Such as people and every day life. I use your videos for prep and I understanding. I was a sound engineer so I am happy to get into this area of film
That is great to hear. I know there isn't much content about field recording out there so I'm glad you found our channel.
Those poor cows have to listen to the bell ringing 24 hours a day! OMG. The Mars!
Very nice views of my island guys! I grew up there and I’m now in the mainland after travelling a bit, so good to see your images which remind me of my childhood! I discovered your channel few hours ago to get some infos and insights to potentially make myself some sound recordings and I saw that! Thank you for making such a nice views of it!
That’s awesome. I hope you can find a store to get some recording gear. We are still here so we probably make another video before we leaving.
Hello « Marcel », thanks for the good comment on France, thank’s a lot 👌🙏🙏🙏
Our pleasure!
Beautiful place! It looks like another planet almost! Thanks for a fantastic episode~
Thank you for watching Douglas and yes that is what we thought too. So unreal and majestic. Our nature is just beautiful.
I love nature sound ❤ i was buy bundle pack so huge sound fail in ther 🥰
Love your videos and sounds... and your positive and joyful attitude. I'm off to get me my first recorder right now after watching a few of your videos. Thanks for the inspiration and keep posting more videos.
Hi! I will :)
what a great video guys. loved it. the cows, the crackling sounds with the parabolic the deep sounds near the volcano. loved it.
Thank you!! It’s an older one and I personally wouldn’t recommend the parabolic mic anymore.
@@FreeToUseSounds got it.
I'm tired and we'll blame it on that but at the end of this video when it is written 'Thanks for watching :)', what I saw was 'Thanks for nothing... :)' And then I realized my eyes were playing tricks on me. Lol. But boy did I have a good laugh. Great video, guys! And great channel!!
Ha Ha yeah thanks for nothing is funny :) but thanks for watching. Tomorrow we have a new video coming up.
It's not only the sounds, but the video quality is incredible. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll succeed for sure! :)
Ah thank you so much for watching Mark and we promise you we keep it up! :)
This is beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Fan-tas-tic!! 😍
hi . im from Malaysia. just found your channel. what a great quality content. hopefully your channel will reach hundred thousands of subscribers.
Oh thank you so much had we are glad you found us. All that all depends on how much work we put in and if more people like you, like our content. :)
Awesome that sound of your feet in the opening. So crispy!
Sorry for the late reply and as always thank you for watching! :)
Amazing!
Thank you for watching my friend and greetings from La Reunion. I'm in Paris on the 14th so maybe you are around :)
Hello. How is everything these days?
I have a question. I'd like to buy a Parabolic mic, so which one should I choose between ccm2 omni or ccm4 Cardioid? I think Omni has more noise than Cardioid, so if you can recommend me a mic, which one would be good?
2:41
well, you convinced me ... I buy it! hahaha
Have a good trip and good work guys
C.
Hahaha! Now that you say that I had to watch it again and it sounds like a car add for Hyundai :)
@@FreeToUseSounds
should enter the "field recordist best gear" list and then ask hyundai for a sponsorship ;)
@@chrisyanofficial The next video is about our gear and what I currently use. Yeah I should do this inside the car :). Good Idea.
@@FreeToUseSounds Yep!
More great minecraft like sounds. I would always play games with studio monitor phones on because I love the sound of the feet walking across the ground like that. It's one of my most favorite sounds, also tires making that little crackle rolling over loose little rocks on the road or dirt trails. I get distracted by that a lot when mountainbiking.
Oh yes it is a great sound and I love it too. The crackling is just so awesome. Make sure you check out my other footsteps sounds. A friend of mine had a mediation and yoga studio and he creates soundscape for relaxation. He included footsteps and afterwards we asked for the experience and one lady said she didn’t really liked to footsteps. The reason because is she felt being followed what makes sense in a way. So same sound very different experience.
The mars XD Beautiful video!
Haha:) thank you for watching and yes for me it’s like the moon and the mars but now I learned it’s only Mars.
This is so cool! I will check out the sounds and if I use any I'll let you know. I also like to record a few things here and there so your videos are interesting for both purposes :) Thanks for sharing
Hi Wasabi! Ah thank you so much for watching and yes make sure to check out the recording videos from Hong Kong using a contact microphone. For experimental music makers its an awesome microphone. I'm waiting for my geofone and with that one I'm able to record incredible low rumble sounds.
Saw this on r/wearethemusicmakers. Already like you guys so much! You two look so fun and positive! Love it.
Hi Ale! Oh yes I posted it there and I’m glad the mods kept it. It’s fun to show the world how the work of a field recordist looks like. On Monday I have a new video coming up about our current gear.
Hi Libby and Marcel! Would you recomend the Wildtronics Mono-Stereo Parabolic Microphone as an alternative to something like a BP4025 with the parabolic as an extra feature? Love your content, thank you for all the time and effort!
Well, that’s up to you and I don’t use this microphone anymore and wouldn’t buy it again.
Excellent :)
Thank you so much Abel! :)
Were the cow bell sounds recorded just from the stereo channel of the wildtronics mic without the dish?
Yes
Thank you so much to you and Libby for sharing what you are working on and for the lessons you provide along the way. I just started doing sound recordings a year ago. My background is in photojournalism and visual ethnography. I'm now working mostly on creating immersive audio stories as well as soundscapes in my community that I'm working collaboratively with my friend David who is blind. He has been recording binaural audio for the last several years.
I have a question. I notice that you use a tripod with your audio recorders. Does that get heavy when you are hiking to get sounds or when you are walking around most of the day?
Hi Mary! Wow that sounds wonderful what you are doing and I hope you both can continue this journey. Yes I do have always a tripod with me but the one I bought isn't that heavy. But sometimes I walk 6 hours around with this bag and its getting heavy at the time. The bag itself with recorder, camer, microphones and cables has less than 10kg so its all manageable. Please be safe out there and healthy. Marcel
@@FreeToUseSounds wow, such a fast response. Thank you, Marcel. My husband and I are in Portland, Oregon and we have been self guaranteed for the last three weeks. I've appreciated listening to your sounds on Bandcamp while we are in lockdown.
My friend David and I started recording different areas of Portland that we will use to create an interactive sound map online that can also be used by blind travelers to know what they area looks like through what they hear. I'm working on developing an interactive story station blending spatial sounds and interviews for a project titled, Abby's Dream Journey. Abby is also blind. We recorded her story and sounds where she was born, in Ethiopia. May I share a link here or send you a link?
Mary Anne Funk Hi Mary! Sorry for late response. We are in a different time zone and I just came back to the computer. Please feel free to share the link here.
@@FreeToUseSounds Thank you. The site is still in the early stages of development. Sounds and stories are being added. I'm inspired by what you have done in just two years.

Noticing there is no field mic stereo in your recordings. The background music is in stereo, so the CZcams file is in stereo, but none of the field recordings are in stereo even though you are using two mics in your windscreen based on the two mic cables coming from it. Is this an error? if yes can you fix and repost in stereo?
Oh yes this was an error. We made the same mistake with one of our Iceland videos but the videos are so old now that we can't reupload them.
Well, I did it... I just got the Zoom H5 because they didn't have any other, but I'm a little disappointed with the results after having gone out to the park in the outskirts of town. This recorder is picking up all the background constant noise polution that my ears are used to hearing and I'm not getting clear sound of birds and the running water on the creek. Please, any suggestions on given settings to make this unit record clear sound? Thank you in advance.
Ah so sorry to hear that but you can't expect from the recorder to record just the sounds of the birds while having noise pollution. You aren't using a direct shotgun microphone or you aren't far enough from the noise. I think you need to drive further out into the forest to get a clean recording of birds.
Where did you get the dead at for the zoom h3vr? I cannot find one that actually works with eliminating wind noise
I use the Zoom WSU-1. Its not amazing but on low wind it does the job.
@@FreeToUseSounds I'll try it, do you use it alone or use it as an additional layer to a sponge cover over it too ?
@@CreativeRamy Yes I also have an additional foam. I just used the one that comes with it.
What kinds microphones did u used in this flim?
This is the Wildtronics Mono Stereo parabolic microphone. The video is already older and I don't have it anymore.
It's hyundai like sunday
Okay :)
08:21 "So, we are here on Mars right now" 😂
Ha Ha :)
How good is the Zoom H3 for recording ?
You mean the H3VR? Its a good recorder indeed but I don't use it that often anymore.
@@FreeToUseSounds Hi, thanks a bunch for such a quick response.
I have just stumbled on your channel a day ago, so it is probably like a New Year Gift for me! 😊
Wish you a Great Year in 2021 and I'll keep watching your videos!! 👍
@@pradeepchakraverti Oh then you have a few more to watch about field recording :) Thank you so much. Can I ask you how did you find the channel?
@@FreeToUseSoundsYour channel is a Great channel.
I have very little experience of ambience recording, though I have been recording sound for a while. I started with recording music and other performers usually out of any studio and in the locations of the performers themselves. In the past 4 or 5 years I have been working with small film makers for documentary films, mostly to record dialogue. Since their budgets are so small, there is very little of sound design involved!
I am not a trained audio engineer, I had a full career as a Merchant Seaman. Now this hobby keeps me away from mischief in retirement!!!
Your videos are quite inspiring for me to think further about the possibilities of sound recording. Plus they have great visual footage of travel!!!! That is something that I really enjoy.
Thank you again so much!!!!!
@@pradeepchakraverti Oh wow! That means you have been all over the world? I thought about doing something similar in my early age but for some reason I have to much respect for the open water.
Needs more cowbell.
"Says the German!" 🙂
HI ! thanks for this awesome video, we'd like to use it with your agreement, as embed video, in our new website ile-de-la-reunion.net which ll be launch mid July. Let us know your answer, Regards!
Not sure why I see your comment just now but feel free to include the video. Thank you.
how do I get a job like this?? lol
You create it. Not even kidding.
You work for it every single day!
You nailed it. :)
