I was raised Catholic and Les is speaking on the biggest issue I had, (and what caused me to leave the church as a young adult). We were taught to listen to the church hierarchy, especially the pope (who represents God on earth) INSTEAD of cracking open the Bible and reading it yourself. Don’t question THEIR interpretation of God’s word, you’ll only be confused. Raising your hand in school to question something which made no sense to an eight year old would get you into BIG trouble. Once I started actually READING the Bible and realized how the Catholic dogma didn’t match the gospel, all those childhood questions started to be answered! Please understand that the church kept me on the straight and narrow growing up, especially as a teen, and the majority of staunch Catholics I know are good folks. They simply don’t know God’s word and have been indoctrinated against reading it for themselves. They’d profit from Les guiding them to their OWN discovery of the truth.
