My wife and 2 kids each own a Lexus. I drive a Prius. After a lifetime of driving, I'm still a Toyota fan. Not even Honda can compare with it's legendary reliability and quality control. I will never go near a BMW or a Mercedes. They are trouble waiting to happen. Heard too many horror stories about them.

Lexus has re invented the LS to the same level as the original 89s. This is revolutionary for lexus and what I have been waiting for, amazing car! I would buy hands down, beautiful car, performance, reliability, power, yes i do want a v8 but maybe the LSF will be that, but i must say, I am highly impressed with this twin turbo v6.

I drive a fifteen year old LS430 with 120k miles. It is still a great pleasure to drive today. Reliability is off the chart. One of my favorite things is Lexus service visits and the fact that they'll give you a brand new loaner vehicle on a fifteen year old car.

After spending every other week at the shop with my bmws and mercedes. I finally got an LS460 and forgot what its like to go to the mechanic. Yes, I see where the LS500 isn't as great as the S class, but id take it over that simply because of the reliability.
btw, Id still want an NA V8 for the same reason.

I drive an LS460 F Sport. Had a standard LS460 previously. Drove a GS400 before that. Only unexpected repair I've ever had was a starter on the GS. I take care of my cars. And they reward me with the best reliability of any brand car I've driven. My Mom is on her second LS460. Same story for reliability. There's a reason most Lexus owners stay with the brand. I am very excited to get behind the wheel of this new LS. I definitely can see myself upgrading to the new design!

I'd say better than the Bentley. Compare a Bentley that's on 300,000 miles. Especially when it comes to buttons - roof shade buttons, heated seats buttons. I guarantee you the Lexus used higher quality battle-tested materials.

Currently I own a first year LS460 and a modified C6 corvette z51. Between the two cars I like to think it I have the perfect balance of comfort and fun. Switching from one car to the other really is mind blowing in how different the two are and how they go about their intended purpose so well. For me if I was replacing my 460 I would go with the LS500. When I bought the LS460 over the German competition I did it for its reliability and performance (Back in 2007 the LS was quicker then the 745/s-class/A8/XJ), but today I would go with the LS500 because of its projected reliability and its styling. The styling is what really has impressed me the most!

An utter pinnacle of stunning design, engineering as well as overall craftsmanship of the entire LEXUS team, which includes the very last person on the assembly line at Tahara plant, as well as the entire team of "takumis", also known as master artisans.
Only a fully dedicated team that takes pride in their work and in appreciation of the historic importance and significance of this model, which shook the auto world in the luxury sedan segment back in 1989 in the form of LS 400, could have created such a masterpiece of a vehicle, which will be one to beat in its segment.
The entire LEXUS team was able to pull off the most difficult task there is for designers and engineers-to successfully combine luxurious, serene ride comfort with handling and performance, without compromising the former part of driving experience, which made the LS model famous throughout the world.
Congratulations to my entire LEXUS team on this astonishing accomplishment.

I'm not a Lexus fan, but this thing sounds incredible, and the interior looks first class. Since I like keeping my cars a while, this would be my choice out of the cars listed. With that said, I am concerned over the reliability of this particular car, due to the fact that this car has two turbines. Lexus usually uses bigger, NA engines, no? I was under the impression that this strategy helped the reliability. However if I was leasing, I'd get an A8 or S8

Drove a 7 series before, impressed but not blown away, years later, a 7 series is still a 7 series, nothing more. Lexas, however, has improved and refined so much over the few years that I will no doubt pick a Lexas over BMW or Mercedes. The workmanship and attention to details Lexus put into their cars is now beyond what the BMWs and Mercedes can offer. The only con I can think of is the navigation screen and technology, the touchpad is not everyone's favorite.

I can always count on our Lexus that we have in the garage, wish I could say the same for the German cars we have had in the past. The Lexus is the backup daily to my main daily. LOL! If you rely on a German car as your main daily driver then you know what I mean (always breaking down). I love my German cars but their cheapness with plastics under the hood is leaving a lot to be desired on the reliability front. My 13' GS350 is my first Lexus and I must say i'm impressed, so much so that I really don't long after German cars much anymore. It's nice not spending the full purchase price all over again in "maintenance" when you own a Lexus. I have had numerous Porsches, BMWs, and Mercedes and all of them have been very needy when it comes to "maintenance" and repairs. It's nice to see Lexus is offering more driver focused cars that appeal to German buyers. I have never been a fan of Lexus styling in the past but they are finally heading in the right direction. We love the new LC!

But I have no reason to walk up to Lexus and buy a 2018 LS500 with the biggest engine available, because I have been driving a Lexus GS300 since I bought it new all the way back in 2007. It has treated me right in every way. Also I’ll be saving some money!
    Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
P.S. I love watching your channel.

I've owned a MB once, BMW once, Audi (my wife owns now), and Lexus's. Hands down the most reliable brand is the Lexus. I have a fully loaded RX currently. With the MB and the BMW, as soon as I hit 48k miles and 55k miles respectively, so many things started breaking down. Spent too much money fixing them decided not to buy them again. My wife's Audi has 20k right now and have had a couple of problems already which the dealer took care of. Owned a Toyota Sienna some time back and when I sold it, it had 293k miles... not a single problem. All I did was change oil, tires, brakes, oil filter, timing belt and such on time.

I have owned over the past 5 years two Audi A8's back to back 1 short and 1 long wheelbase.. Amazing car to drive daily without any problems. I recently was in the market and chose a new 7 series non M-sport w/20s. I am as of now, just as happy with my 7 and save about $200.00 per month on my payment. Once you get to this level of car, they all are nice.
If the LS were available now I would consider a non-hybrid, maybe AWD. But whoever can offer me a great level of tech, comfort, competent drive experience at a competitive price, I would consider.
Brand loyalty is not very important to me in this current luxury market.
P.S. As for Mercedes I have owned 7 and drive 1 as my everyday.. I have had positive ownership experiences in my purchase choices.
In the future perhaps that new LC500..
    I'm in So.Cal.
    Enjoy the Drive!

I’m really blown away by the design. It’d be a though choice between the 7 series and the LS. I haven’t made up my mind yet though... with the engine, I’d go for the most powerful choice that would be available just bellow the super sport package (I.e.: for the 5 series for example I’d go for the 550 instead of the M5).
I’m speaking from Brazil and unfortunately I don’t drive any cars from that category. I drive a Toyota.

It is funny you ask that as I am now looking at those vehicles to purchase this year. BMW is out - they just don't appeal to me and their driving feel has left the building. I liked the S560. Solid, completely level in the turns -- I liked the 8-cylinder better than their 6 cylinder - so my next step is the test drive in the Lexus. Right off the bat, I like the lines of the Lexus. Very nice, clean, elegant. We will see...

I will choose a Lexus LS 500 V6 for my long drives and family outings and also put a LC 500 V8 in the garage to enjoy occasionally when I can afford them, I had considered cars like BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martins, Maserati and even Rolls Royce, Bentley Vehicles if ever I won lotto but after seeing many of my wealthy friends spend weeks without their dream cars due to either electrical or mechanical failure while my friends with Toyota and Lexus vehicles never have any serious problems that prevented them from still being able to drive. The V8 diesel of the Toyota did have some major oil usage problems but the cause was found and a redesign did solve the issue. Love to here of any other more serious problems in a Toyota or Lexus. Yes I have been an owner of Toyota Tarago and a Toyota ute, neither ever gave me any issues even after 500,000 klms, rust was what made me get rid of them. I live in country Australia in a cold damp winter climate and a hot dry summer climate so I had mud as well as dust to contend with as most of the roads consisted of gravel and dirt

Lexus would completly be my choice. This new LS is stunning, and amazing machine! Lexus put the level very high this time. This Twin turbo V6 is a very good engine match to a lighter/great chassis. They should offer I think another engine something like a new generation V8 NA. And hope for an outcoming LS-F with a Twin Turbo V8 with a least 600HP. A customized LS by Lexus, looks at the final much better than any benz or bmw or audi. Great review ! More bmw than a bmw ... you said it all !

Having owned BMW vehicles, I can say the time required to deal with service-related issues was significant. Reliability is now a more important criteria for me. The Germans manufacturers have a longer history in the upper segment so it is not clear how well Lexus will hold up in terms of interior wear over time (not one of their strengths).
I would consider the 2018 LS500. Nice review....

One of the main issues that I have (I have a 2018) is that they put a lot of basic controls in the screen settings. I shouldn't have to go into the screen settings to turn on/off my heated or cooled seats. Those settings and a few others should be at my fingertips outside of the settings in the screen. Also there is no spare tire and they want you to use run flat tires. You lose ride quality with run flats over standard tires. Other than that I enjoy my LS.

I drive an LS 600h L 2013 and love it with the bamboo trim. It will be difficult for me to give this car up for the new 2018, with a demotion to LS 500h with only 6 cylinders and 4 gears and a shorter wheel base. Plus the interior with the crushed glass and fish-scale like design doesn't turn me on at all. It looks like the interior of a coffin more than a car. I've driven the BMW 750i, noting that they also dropped the 2 wheel bases in favor of just one. I liked the design and the way the car handled very much. It will be a tough decision, but I may end up keeping my 2013.
