The fact that the Atari 2600 can even process a single sprite similar to sonic is amazing…
That Sparkster hack looks impressive, they just paste in sonic sprite from another game but at the same time properly edited to not look out of place or broken, looks quite fitting even if its totally not how a sonic game would play
5:55 IS THAT MY RIP!? YOOOOOOOO AWESOME! I'M HONORED!
Sonic : ah what a lovely day
Zippy : Hello!!
Sonic : AAAAAAAAAAA
2:55 music to my ears :)
Sonic Megamix is a genuinely fantastic Sonic Rom Hack though.
1:06 *insert looney tunes music here*
8:43 Sonic looks and sounds incredible on SNES
That C64 and SNES Sonic bootlegs soundtracks are amazing!
Someone really needed to prove something when they made the SNES clone! ("See the SNES can do blast processing!" Kind of thing!) We all knew the Genesis was fully capable of playing Super Mario so that home brew seems sub par lol!
Didn't Uniracers have "blast processing" type gameplay? That was on SNES.
That or the dev wanted a fun challenge and didn't really care for silly console wars. The homebrew looks pretty impressive to me, I can't remember any other snes game running as fast and smooth. Sure it has way more slowdowns and less resolution than og Sonic, but it's about translating the experience into a system with a much slower cpu clock. And to me it absolutely sucess at it.
@@merluzacongelada5361 oh it's amazing no doubt! It just seems that no homebrewers put that much effort into making a perfect SNES port when moving over a game to the Genesis.
I’m sure a better Mario home brew could be made for the Genesis. The only real issue is the Genesis sound hardware requires good knowledge of it to make it sound as good as it can. The one that looked more like the NES game rather than the all starts looking one definitely had more effort. While the latter is a cheap copy to make some money in foreign markets generally.
Also the SNES port/remake is impressive, but wow the game has trouble handling the rings if you get hit. Blast processing wasn’t really even a thing. The SNES probably could have easily handled the sonic games technically, but targeting multiple systems usually came with a few compromises on one or the other systems. Blast processing was just graphical trickery and the Genesis had a marginally faster clock speed and a co-processor. The SNES had more capable graphical hardware capable of 256 colors at once on screen and the Genesis was 64 usually but sometimes 128 but you had to cycle palettes to pull it off like when Sonic goes underwater. If you knew what you were doing on the Genesis you could make awesome technical graphical showcases and have great music. But trying to get that as close to 1:1 on the SNES and Vice versa was not exactly practical for most budgets then.
Watch the "blast processing" on that snes port. Imagine how much work that had to translate the genesis programing to work on snes.
Also sonic the rocket knight hedgehog

15:07 This one has some really good music. It sounds like if Inner Circle did a synth-calypso fusion album with Yanni
holy shit the atari is impressive af
I was impressed with the Commodore 64 version. Feels just like the Sega Master System / Game Gear version of the game!
I didn't even know some of these existed! Very nice!
Ah yes, Sonic 4 for the SNES. When I first played that, I thought it was a legit game, until I found out years later that it was a bootleg romhack of Speedy Gonzales - Los Gatos Bandidos. I was really THAT gullible back then.
9:35 is not a bootleg, but instead a hack of Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Bandidos
The atari 2600's sounds remind me of those mobile games that try to be like a retro-type of game
9:21 si me dices que es un port oficial te creería
La paleta de colores
Las animaciones
La musica
Todo se adapta perfectamente al sistema de la snes
@@anothertailsfan14 and?? It's a problem that they comment either English or Spanish? Or are you one of those people?
I think it's funny that for Sonic 6 on the game boy uses the looney toons theme for the title screen
2:34 sounds like Launch Base Zone from the PC/Prototype version of Sonic 3
because it is, Sonic 5, 7 and 8 steal the Sonic and Knuckles collection music
Actually, Super Mario Bros. 2 (bootleg) is a hack of Sonic Jam 6, since Sonic Jam 6 has more bugs, and worse graphics. Besides, Peach also says "Thank you Sonic" in Super Mario Bros. 2.
03:55 looks good
The Atari 2600 looks and sounds extremely impressive. Would really lime to try that some day.
Ha ha, I typed lime the fruit instead of like by mistake. Misspellings can be quite humorous.
This is so cool ngl
Me:Mom can we have sonic mania at home?
Mom:we already have sonic mania at home
Sonic Mania At Home:0:11
Where can i find the Pumking Hill 8-bit like track? Is pretty cool ngl
The first sonic homebrew is made in MINI Sonic The Hedgehog (1993) for Sharp X8600 and have a port to ps1 in 1997
Thanks!

Sonic: What’s up doc?
Sparkster look fun
5:55I love the music
I like more the Sparkster, but to me the best is the Sonic Mega Mix
3:56 this is one of 3 bootlegs that are actually good (the others being crash bandicoot nes and donkey kong country 4)
the game boy one has looney tunes music XD I'M DEAD
I’m shocked that the NES version wasn’t included in this
5:00 really hit different
Ah yes, i love Sonic Adventure 7 for the gameboy color
Buenisimo
Imagine there was a Mario Party 69 bootleg game and it would be the entire sonic game, but replace sonic with Mario.
The speedy gonzales hack was sonic 6
Sonic 1 ON SNES IS REAL THAN Bottleg Sonic 4 ON SNES
Speedy gonzales actually looks sick
New powers for sonic in different games and bootleg games
The sonic mega mix is very nice i like it
The Sonyc Hack Looks Good
I may sound crazy to a lot of gamers but I was never a big fan of sonic but the homebrew of the SNES looks really cool.
11:30 Sonic Jam 6 isn’t a hack of the bootleg Genesis Super Mario Bros. 2, Sonic Jam 6 is the original game while bootleg SMB2 is the hack.
when was released first homebrew?
I think the snes is the best one, it has potential for a port
You forgot Sonic 1 NES/Somari
Lol I knew this would come up. I already made a video on it. Check out the pinned comment. And this is the second time I am uploading this video as the one yesterday got flagged by copyright claim due to Somari Sonic hack.
I haved so many good momentz with sonic 4 for snes, just its magic the ending of the game (i know is a speedy gonzales hack)
It's a official sonic advance for gba:)👍
false, the only official GBA Sonic port is the horrible Sonic Genesis game the same day as Sonic 06
Gotta go bootleg/homebrew!
@@Retromantra Thank you, but that will take a while.
Well, the closest thing i have is this one: czcams.com/video/JgdCxKJQM14/video.html&ab_channel=Highretrogamelord
11:24 Actually this is an OG bootleg.
Faltó el homebrew para GBA del primer Sonic que lo hicieron como alternativa al port refasto del 2006 pero solo hicieron Green Hill Zone :( pero con la música original
4:54 Why does this slap as hard as it does?
Music is from Parasol Stars on the TurboGrafx, it has a really good soundtrack
The music in the level was the boss theme
the snes one kinda reminds me of sonic cd
That Atari version is amazing
Yay 2 sonic 4 and sonic 7 is port snes and game boy
i mean zippy is technically official
Isn't sonic 1 for snes is fan proof of concept? Not like bootleg and a real game made in 2020, if I remember it correctly
And also Sonic MEGAMIX is a hack, and it has very good quality to be a bootleg
Yeah, it's a modern proper homebrew port made by an actually talented developer and he looked into Sonic 1 disassemblies to do so. It only includes Green Hill Zone. The point was not to cash in, as it isn't for sale or anything. It was just made in response to the classic debates as to whether SNES could handle a proper intact port of Sonic 1. I'd say he definitely accomplished that. The developer (TiagoSC) also ported Megaman X to the Genesis and has since ported Sonic 1 to the PS1 (with enhanced visuals and sound).
knows anyone a good homebrew website for download this derivate of old style rom-sets ?
10 out of ten why is the atriy so good
3:05 why sonic is killing a megaman enemy
You missed some bootleg like Sonic 3D Blast 5 on Gameboy and Sonic 4 on SNES.
No the better question to ask is which one is the worst because many of these are literally just rom hacks of already existing games
Соник в мире Марио - остановите планету, я схожу с ума😂
The utary is amazing
4:54 Digimon Adventure = Rap style moment, put 0,75x this instant
0:22 usou toda a capacidade do console kkkkk
Why in sonic jam 6 is says that is on sega?
Sonic adventure 8 is cool
What about the PSX version!?
I really think you should separate Homebrew and Bootleg so that people don't get the wrong idea.
@@Retromantra thank you. i hope my comment didn't come off as rude any.
No, actually I am always open to suggestions. You see, I do all my videos myself. Live and learn
9:48 Sonic sonic
I would like to play Atari 2600 Sonic XD
2:34 Prototype launch base zone music???????
Which game is the most impressive? DEFINITELY the Atari, or Sonyc on MSX now, which one is the best in my opinion? Definitely Sonic 4 SNES, tbh I just have alot of nostalgia for it
Someone knows how to put Sonic homebrew versions on Zeebo's console?
5:55 PUNKIN HILL
Ice, forest, country, desert, Mexico, and ... cheese? Did this make any more sense in the original game?
As someone who just beat all of the super boy games on the msx, THAT'S ACTUALLY GOOD WHAT
sonic😃🙃
wait there’s sonic SNES? i knew they was making a NES version but not the SNES😮
C64 Homebrew
Funny that sonic on atari has better physics than sonic 4
Sonic Megamix is only hack looks an fan-game (or not i have not idea)
Actually it's a modified hack of the original Sonic game, it's an extensive reworking of the game with lots of changes. Read more here
