  • Lisbon 1967 - 50 Years On - What a day for Celtic!
50 years ago on the 25th May 1967 in Lisbon, eleven local Scottish lads became legends as Celtic FC won the European cup by defeating Inter Milan 2-1. The first British club to do so. It was a iconic moment in the life of the club and for hundreds and thousands of fans.
This documentary explores the events surrounding the iconic day, in the context of the Catholic community of Scotland, from the perspective of the fans, players, bishops and priests who made up the base of the club's support.

What can be said that hasn't already been said about this wonderful team/ club as it said in the video other clubs started playing the Glasgow Celtic way long after celtic beat inter in 1000 years ppl will still be speaking about the Lisbon Lions & rightly so simply because they were our clubs greatest ever team 1 little thing we supporters must remember the bhoys who didn't make the team but played their part in the earlier rounds ,I'd like to thank my father who I didn't get on with but he took me to my 1st game when I was 4 years old I thought the whole world was in Celtic park that night I fell in love with Glasgow Celtic & I will keep loving until my dying day hail hail

People will talk about this fantastic event for years to come. There are so many wonderful points to mention, each of them part of the legend that is Glasgow Celtic Football Club ...... and if you know the history! However, there is something that always strikes me: these west of Scotland working class lads, competing at the highest level, facing up to one of Europe's premier football teams, playing in a foreign country where summer temperatures were surely going to favour the mighty Italians, these young men played in a manner which to this day still deserves all the superlatives attributed to the beautiful game. What did they show us? They showed us that it is possible to be the best you can. In their case they achieved it with athletic style and fitness based excitement. For that we are eternally blest. The 1967 game is the stuff that legends are made of and the ultimate compliment to those Irish Catholic idealists who founded a football club for the well being of people. Had they any idea at all what it would all lead to?! And if you know the history............
