Hey guys!!! It's finally here! I have been very busy lately because I'm already preparing for my next vessel assignment. That means I have to report to the office all the time for processing, training and all that stuff. Which also means I will be going back onboard a ship in a few weeks time so I will be able to make new episodes of Seaman Vlogs with topics which a lot of you have requested!!! In the mean time, I hope you enjoy this video. This is how we welcome new cadets to our school. I'll probably be able to make one more PMMA video before I go back to sea. And that will be about the Oath-taking of the new 4th Class Midshipmen! We will find out how many of the 389 probationary midshipmen successfully survived the Probationary Period and qualify to be accepted as full-fledged members of the PMMA Corps of Midshipmen. 😀👍

I am a old sea man, retired merchant engineer in South Korea.
I graduated Mokpo Maritime University in 1979, this video clip reminded me the time of the first day in school.
As you guys know our country has law of military serive duty for 2-3years, my school required to be a cadet of Navy ROTC for all student at that time.
I was happy to watch this video and so proud of myself overcoming all the course of academy and ROTC, and I learned not to give up until I pay all my efforts though the whole life.
    Thanks for great video clip.

I expected that life in the academy that will not be easy, that I need to bear in mind that I must/should be ready physically and mentally ready. Ganyan ako sa una, sa first day kinaya ko ang lahat pero nagkamali pala ako. I felt that something is wrong in my mind. Na bigla nalang akong nadedepress as days pass by. Sabi ko sa sarili ko "it's now or never na talaga to".
Alam kong madami akong sinayang na oportunidad at oras sa pagreresign. Mahirap sobra, nakakalungkot na bakit ako nag give up pero naisip ko siguro may will pa si Lord na mas maganda sakin, naisip ko there are other ways to be successful in life. Meron pa ring onting pagsisisi sa akin pero life must go on sabi nga nila.
Don't quit kaya niyo yan.

RHON TV It does not mean bro that I resigned for just the sake of I'm mentally illed. And to tell you we're not rich so how could you say that we're financially stable. Great! Every Navy school you go, in every country, it’s always the same! First days as cadet could be scary! I experienced the same “jokes” the same tricks... you learn how to be invisible to the eyes of older cadets and instructors... there is only one law: the rank. There is only one creed: learn to obey first, so you can give orders (and know how much your orders can be annoying) tomorrow.

Isipin mo nalang manhid ka, and you are born to become an elite soldier someday and not just a normal person.

When I was in grade 5, my teacher has a son who is studying at PMMA at that time. When her son once visited our school and started talking about his experiences inside the academy, I knew I wanted to be just like him. From that day, I decided to apply discipline in everything I do in my daily life. However, it was in grade 9 when the hardest event in my life took me by storm - MY MOM HAD A SPONSORSHIP TO WORK IN CANADA. Since mom got a sponsorship to work here in Canada, I knew I needed to choose between my ultimate dream which is to study at PMMA or my family. It was a tough decision but I chose my family over my dream and we migrated here in Canada. And, that’s the reality of life.

This is why I chose to study in a private school rather than PMMA even though I passed the written entrance tests and I’m physically and intellectually fit for the training. PMMA’s true mission is to raise Marine Corps/ Coastguards not Merchant Marines. But this academy gives a chance for poverty-stricken Filipinos to become Seamen. So if you can’t afford private colleges, you better not complain with the kind of education this academy gives you.
