Eric Rosen played a whole online tournament with the Cow and he was impressively good. TBH he tried to remove the cow most of the time he once installed it.

The only thing Hansen missed is that when Anna said "I forgot that pawn existed", he's supposed to say "well, now it doesn't".
Damn, she had no chance against that opening.
She tricked him lol. And that is how you put yourself in a win win situation. If Anna beat him then she beat a GM and if she doesn't she showed how good her opening she created is. Good video

The last rule that Anna didn't tell Eric was that every fourth move the players have to go "MOOOOO" or it doesn't work.
I like this guy. He is polite but honest about her opening. He's also confident, not cocky. There's a bit of friendly chest bumping going on.

I played the Cow Opening against my daughter who is learning to play. I’m a novice myself but it played really well and was fun to see how it could work even against someone who isn’t playing traditional openings. It went as you say. She gained control of the center but I was able to regain it soon after. I feel like a pro now. 😂
I personally love these style of openings xD king's fianchetto opening is the one I think I use I think ; with a similar intent to let my opp have as much space to blunder pieces as possible

I love playing your Cow Opening in blitz chess and just watching my opponents clock ticking away (especially when I open as white)... it's almost unbeatable in blitz once this happens. Your first 10 moves are always so quick, no thinking, but your opponent must think. I was losing rating playing 10 minutes and longer .. thinking I was just getting so old and my brain was deteriorating. But in blitz, the Cow is KIng!
I dunno what level you are...at 2100, I'm gonna just play similar to Anna, grab the centre and castle. Obviously a titled player would beat me with the cow but unbeatable is a strong word...

This was not a Chess game, it was a Psychological operation ^^ :)
I'm glad that Eric understood the atmosphere of what a roaming cow feels like as he played the opening.
Cool! I must say that 1. It is good for fast play (staying low) 2. If you move both knights to the kingside, you can make more use of them (instead of one left and one right. 3. If you first fianchetto your queenside bishop, first move a3 second b4, then bishop fianchetto and THEN, you play the Cow, you get pretty good result. (You sac a and b pawn and exchange sac the q rook, and your bishop will prevent castling)

@@NoThanksblahhhh0751 She did not lose intentionally. In fact, Eric is a GM and WAY above Anna's level, she doesn't stand a chance against that caliber of a player even when he plays a bad opening.
Honesty the best twist at the end I've seen in a while based on his expression in his eyes.

You make chess a fun game while respecting the nature of the game. I love the COW.
When playing bullet - you might profit timewise, using this opening - All pieces covering each other - and stil reaching in to the centre via the knights for some tactical/exchange possibilities. May take a while to build up a repertoire of attacking ideas though.

they were talking through things with each other the whole match which he said was new to him.
I’m guessing he probably dies not do social media videos while playing chess whatsoever, while Anna is very use to a lot of input and distractions... I’m trying to see him in a collaboration with the Botez sisters while Lev is screaming “the rook!”. Sensory overload for him but Anna can do that and not miss a beat. I think he was honestly new to a CZcams video while playing and trying a new opening and Anna doing some basic Anna trash talk asking him what he’s gonna do with
His pieces etc... was all new and fun but the faux-confusion was just confusion imo.

I have an opening called the DOG. I take out my King and Queen and chase the pieces around like a mad dog. It dosent work but its fun while it lasts.

Good chess players know very little of life off the board. The game consumes you, and it becomes an escape from reality many times.

My first 4-6 favorite opening moves are, rushing both the rook paws up the board as fast as I can. It frees up the powerful rooks and changes the entire history of the game.
There's so much wrong with this. I'm not trying to be rude but there's a few problems with this. First, rooks don't do well with a full board. They are much more powerful at the end of the game when they have open space. Second you have ruined your fortress that you get after castling. Third, and its hard to explain this without a board in front of us... But if you spend your first 6 moves touching only your outer pawns while the other player touches each of their minor pieces once along with two central pawns the difference in the squares that player can hit compared to you with a full pawn line is monumental. The kids I taught chess in an after school program really liked your proposed way of playing and I'd have to destroy them to show why it wasn't the best plan.
