My mom was working as a respiratory therapist while Trump was bungling the pandemic response and trying to undermine public health initiative just so he could keep his precious stock market highs booming. I watched him play games with getting my mom the protective equipment she needed to stay safe on the job.
I can’t pretend to give a f*ck about what happened at the rally. I just hope he doesn’t succeed in scoring sympathy points. The hostility towards him is not just about inflamed, impolite political rhetoric, but what he wants to DO to people if he gets into office and what he DID the last time he was there.

You can bet the secret Service doubled and more of their protection around Presidents Obama and Biden, and many of the other former officials in the Democratic Party.

I was a public servant working for CA Legislature and the House of Representatives. We go into this work to help our fellow citizens. When Trump was there we fought every day to keep our rules and regulations in place. When Joe was there we got real work done. When Obama was there we had to clean up his act. Nancy says ACA was her best work and I love Nancy, but it wasn't. It could have been better. My son couldn't even get a free COVID booster this year when he was self employed. The work we got done with Joe was innovative and instrumental.
I have never been anything other than a registered Democrat who has always voted for the Democratic Party. But DAMN, the Bulwark has been speaking for me more than any "mainstream media" channel these days! Stay safe Tim! The conventions may be a bit TOO wild for folks labelled traitors.

Sam said Biden should have done a pep rally trying to unite everyone. Don’t mean to be a defeatist, but haven’t we been there and done that? There has been no interest in finding middle ground from the Trump side. I think Biden’s calm, measured approach prevented agitating the other side and showed his wisdom and humanity.

Update on alleged political donation: this has now been disputed as false -- there is no evidence this man donated to any political organizations, or attended political rallies, or participated in any political organizing or advocacy activities. According to his schoolmates, the individual had a fetish for gun culture, wore militant fatigues that he was derided in his school for wearing, and had no regular friendships or social acquaintances. He was bullied and isolated socially and often exhibited hostile and anti-social behaviors.
I am sorry to learn that the former President, convicted of sexual assault in a public restroom, whose children charities were shut down for fraud, whose university was shut down for fraud, whose businesses have now been convicted by two separate juries of fraud, who cannot ever seem to tell the truth, even about the most basic and easy to validate issues, who was a frequent visitor to Epstein's underage sex island, whose cabinet from his White House days have warned nobody to vote for again -- faced the horrifying spectacle of gun violence at one of his rallies where he often advocates and threatens physical violence against political opponents, people who aren't going to vote for him, certain groups of Americans and illegal immigrants he disagrees should be considered 'human' -- and so forth. Perhaps he and his supporters will FINALLY join in with most other Americans in condemning violence of all kinds, threats to violence of all kinds, for political purposes. Mr Trump renouncing his repeated advocacy of spreading violence and threats as part of his campaign events and political agenda would do a lot to help prevent future acts by others he denigrates and insults who may not be mentally stable or mature enough to limit their actions to the voting booth? Just a suggestion. I still won't be voting for the guy who stated repeatedly that he intends to rewrite the US Constitution for his own benefit, let out all the criminals from Arkham Asylum, and become Dictator "on DAY 1 -- but just day 1, maybe..." Voting against the MAGA GOP.
