While watching this, I was reminded of my great grandmother, who came to the United States from Poland many years ago. Nabila possesses the same candor and ability to recall details that great grandmother Mary did. And her comments about the positive elements of the country are similar, too. The "Appalachian themes" (my term) of kindness and helpfulness to others, and saying what's on one's mind, are readily apparent. Recollections like these are priceless.

Listening to Mrs Najar brought tears to my eyes. She sounds so much like my Sitto Sadie! All 4 of my grandparents came from Lebanon in the 1910s with the same goal: to work hard and achieve the American dream. The pride in her family and in their accomplishments shines through Mrs. Najar's stories. As well it should. Bravo for sharing her with us!

Awww ❤ I love this woman!! It’s such a privilege to be able to sit down with grandparents and great grandparents and relive history through them! Her story is quite an incredible one!! What a life she has lived! I’m sure moving to America was a culture shock for sure, but she has adapted and fallen in love with Appalachia and its people. A true testament of the warmth that fills this area and how it makes people from all over the world feel like they can call it home ❤⛰ And when she said she is more American than anyone here, she’s right about that! She has seen places and can truly appreciate this beautiful country for what so many take for granted that were born into it. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you for another amazing video. By the way, she looks phenomenal to be 91 years old!!!!!

Fantastic interview! Nabila Najar is one of the best cooks you'll ever meet! She's sweet, kind and very honest. She's a goldmine of knowledge. Her husband and my father were 1st cousins. Their generation, in my opinion, was the greatest. They worked so hard to give their family a good life in this country.
