My spiritual awakening included starting to veil and now I recommend it so much. At this point I truly don’t care what people think about it, all I know is that that grace that is expressed outwardly with it is beautiful and I admire anyone that is willing to at least try it.

Veiling for women in the church is a good and beautiful tradition. It shows humility and love to our Lord, present in the tabernacle and in the holy Eucharist. Also, most young women underestimate their power over men regarding attracting their attention and so, in church, distracting their attention from the Lord. This danger is mostly avoided through modest clothing and veiling. Thanks Amber for the great video & God bless

I recently saw one woman who put a lace veil on her head for Mass, and it reminded me so much of my dear mother, that I commented to her and asked about it. She was very flattered and said that it is a tradition that they still use back in her village in Europe. As much as I like it, I would feel too awkward as no one else does it in my parish.

I too felt weird but I told my self this is what I can at least do to honor and show my love to JESUS, after what he willingly did and died out of love for me.. I am wearing my veil for HIM. I was the only one wearing a veil for a month... my three teenage daughters decided to wear their veils too, both of our priest had the biggest smile and complimented us on our veils. Recently I stated to attend mass during the week, again I was the only one.. by the following week there were five ladies wearing their veils 😅👍 I guess started something good for our Lord JESUS 🙏🏻 😊 Trust me just wear it for a month (that's only on Sunday mass) you will gradually notice that your attention towards the Eucharist is more drawn towards you! 🙏🏻😊

Covering one's head in the house of God is an ancient tradition. It is how one shows respect. Jews in the ancient world wore yamakas and still do today. Women have worn veils for centuries, too. Brides wear veils. I think veils are beautiful. I do not find it weird or even unusual in any way.

The Church covers what is holy. As a small boy I used hate the fact I was not allowed to wear my hat in Church. That was when I was ignorant and did not understand. Now I understand it's true meaning. I think it is wonderful when a woman veiled in Church.

for a man it's respectful to have no head covering e.g. even when going to a restaurant or nice/fancy place men shouldn't wear hats, in EE it's still common sense, and in the west it was just general etiquette (no idea how it was lost in the west), in the same way women could always wear head coverings everywhere, including indoors, if you see 19th century paintings you'll see. It's tradition and culture from Christendom. The church is a sacred building, on sanctified ground, and Jesus is present in the Eucharist ... Holy.
Quite frankly I'm surprised the culture in the west has shifted so much as it has, objectively it makes less sense what we currently do rather than what was basic behaviour and etiquette before, and in a church (sacred space) even more so.
I'm only answering the second question in my above comment... as to your first... not sure, I was raised in NO & have don't veil, but have started/tried when going to TLM, I really like it, it's a shame we all stopped ... but I still don't in NO as I'm worried about standing out and people staring ... so I'm on the fence re your first Q.

I'm not a Catholic but a protestant. The veil is to show our covering is the Lord. Some people interpret Corinthians to be about modesty and a woman's hair is beautiful and attracts the wrong kind of attention, it actually refers to attention from angels, some say the fallen angels were attracted to women and the headscarf is to show they are under the Lords protection and that we are surrendered to His will. So while it pleases the Lord we should do it however it is completely up to the woman to choose for herself if she does it. It says in Corinthians that if the headscarf starts quarrels and division we should discard it because it has become a distraction and completely missing the Lord will for us. So from a protestant perspective it's not disrespectful not to do it but it does please the Lord so we SHOULD do it if that makes sense. Many protestant Christians have started wearing headscarf full time because it says the covering is for prayer and worship and it also says we should pray without ceasing, so it makes sense to always have it. I think Christian culture only gave the tradition away quite recently because of feminism, but i think we're passed that now. It does say a woman should be submissive to the man and let him lead, but it also says a man should love his wife more than he loves himself, so it's not what people think.

Men should keep head uncovered, where women should cover head out of reverence and respect. I have been veiling for over a year now and attend a NO mass where no one veils. It makes me feel humble and “small” in the presence of Jesus. On Sundays I wear a dress and a true veil. On week days, or for meetings in church,if I’m wearing jeans or not a dress, I will cover my head with a scarf or bandanna or hat I cover my head whenever I go into church because Jesus is in the tabernacle, even if I just am going to confession. I felt self conscious at first, but now I would feel self conscious if i didn’t. Pray about it.

As a Jewish woman, I am not sure why YT algo suggested this video but I did watch a great interview with a Muslim woman who wears her hijab and opened a female only salon for her patrons and an Orthodox a Jewish woman who opened a sheitl store and salon for Orthodox Jewish women. In case you didn’t know, an orthodox a Jewish woman are required to cover their hair upon marriage and only their husband shall see her real hair. Depending on the sect and type of a Judaism the woman’s family observes, she may either wear a full wig (which can match her real hair or look completely different, the point is modesty and privacy, not disguise) or they can wear a variety of full covering scarves.
I know this Orthodox tradition was in place in Jesus’ time frame and his household, via his mother. I am curious, if you know, why Catholicism didn’t carry that practice over into its faith. In Orthodox Judaism, it is an affirmative obligation from g-d, not an optional practice. It isn’t routine in Conservative or a Reform Judaism. I was wondering if you knew the history, from a comparative religion standpoint.

I think I figured out why Christian headscarves look so much better than the other ones. Almost all the ones I like that I keep seeing are semi-transparent lace patterns. You get half the display of attempted modesty, and half of the truth, light, and beautiful reality of God's greatest physical creation in my life in this moment (after the Eucharist, of course) able to subtly waft its way into the eyes of an innocent bystander like that one guy over there (not me), by still being able to see the hair, ears, the way the hair is done on the side, and soforth. It's a simple centerpiece accessory that passively projects an air of irresistable subtle coquettish-ness. We need to start a feminist hacker cell in Afghanistan so we can indoctrinate and train them how to overthrow the Taliban by charming the men until morale improves. I'll go gather some intel. Aye aye. Roger. Copy. Ryoukai. Out.

As an Catholic Christian keralite it is our tradition to veil before entering the church, from young to old all women veil themselves. So ya remind that you veil for God not for other people.
And our Mother Mary also used to veil.

If someone wants to wear a veil, they can, but I personally think they just draw attention to themselves. In my parish there is a family where all females including young wear the veil. They all have solemn faces. Don't speak to or mix with other parishioners, and sit away from everyone else. It's cult-like IMO. Very strange!
