You commented on my video a while back that you were going to read it. Glad that you did, and I agree with everything that you said :) A 5 star book, but heavy! Your description is spot on and a good idea with the quotes from this book. There are so many 😃

This story feels so full of insights, especially with friendships. I generally read more lighthearted stuff but after hearing your review... I think I'll put it on hold in the library to read. The characters seem genuinely like real human beings, and sometimes, it's good to read and see that perspective... 🧡

I hope you enjoy it when you read it! It's definitely not as lighthearted as I usually read, but I just love the way he writes and portrays his characters!!

I've only seen the show, but I don't remember it being that heavy! I might need to read this one. Maybe I'm just so used to watching things about horrible stuff that it doesn't even register anymore :S
I love that you're trying to get the pronunciation right, you almost got it! 😊 (That could sound so condescending haha, I promise I'm being genuine!) It's actually less like Bach, and more like Buck. So not back like backing up, but somewhere in between that and Bach. Depends on American dialect I suppose, but if you would say 50 bucks, I think that's closer. And both a:s are the same, so the -man is a bit like it would be in Jamaican, although a bit shorter. ^^ How's that explanation haha
What are your other favorites of his?

I was wondering how they portrayed it all in the show! I have been trying to decide if I want to watch it. I think I need a bit of an emotional break but eventually I might try to watch it.
Oh wow! Thank you, that is SO helpful!! I'll definitely keep that in mind.
I think they're all good but my two other favorites are probably Anxious People and Britt Marie Was Here. Britt Marie Was Here is technically a sequel to My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry, but it can also be a stand alone book.

@@BonnieNicoleWrites Haha ok good! You can always come to me for any Swedish pronunciation needs! 😅
I can watch it again when I've read the book and get back to you if it's as intense or not. It might be a while though :)
Anxious People sounds like something I might like as well! Thanks :)
And I hope you have somehing lighter to read in the meantime!

Finally I have an answer on how to pronounce his last name! I've been saying it wrong this entire time *oops* Thank you for clearing this up for me! I loved Beartown :)

So apparently I was still mistaken about his name! Ellen, from another comment in this video, explained that it's pronounced more like Buckman. She is Swedish as well, so definitely check out her comment for a better explanation.

Definitely take a break because all the books are heavy! All of them make you want to 😭 screaming:
"We are the Bears, we are the Bears of Beartown!" 🐻

Ooh, good to know!! I think I'll push the next book to a summer read. Give myself some time in between.
