Oh my gosh! My husband found two bunches too last year but he only found once never again on our foraging. Chicken of the woods we found a lot of them and enjoyed them. Wow! You guys are very fortunate to find a lot of hen of the woods or the dancing mushrooms. What a great foraged! Thanks for sharing us your experience there, my husband found one darker and a lighter one
Just found a 23 lb one and a 7 lb. The coloring is more light brown to tan. Pretty sure its not a berkeley polypore cause the caps are smaller and thinner. Going to cook some first and try it before I spend the time to process them.
I like it, its good. Going to take all winter to eat it. Felt like I was carrying a toddler for almost two miles on rough trail. Its my lucky day! Thanks for your reply.

I like them too. This year I really hit a treasure trove. Found some good Indian recipes for mushrooms , delish. Not crazy about chicken of the woods.
