"I make babies, I'm good at it. So what if there are people willing to pay me for it?"
Then become a surrogate, not a criminal.
Nah, I will terrorize perspective parents for money😂😠😒😭
Seriously. For real. Surrogacy is beautiful. Just like adoption. The punishment for scams in this area should not be as light as they are. The money is huge, but the emotional damage and harm is so extraordinary and profound that it should matter. Esp in making perpetrators thinking of scams like this to think twice.
Right?? Surrogates make good money. Just make sure you have a legal contract with one before going through with it.
How the boyfriend openly says he wanted nothing to do with kids yet sounds so outraged at what this woman did with her baby, really drives home how callous and cruel the whole scam was... even the involved partner thought so.
I have a close friend who was scammed with an adoption scheme. The baby's biological mother was a young girl in a tough situation that just wanted a good home for her child. She visited them a couple times and their other children got so excited when she let them touch her belly because they wanted to meet their little sister. This family paid all her medical expenses as well as living costs during the pregnancy. When the baby tragically died the week it was born, they covered the funeral costs. They mourned for their lost child and had a picture of her framed as a keepsake. One of their friends was a photographer, and noticed that the color in the picture was off. A dead baby should look gray or blue, and the one in the picture looked rosy. They started investigating, and it turns out the baby in the picture was ALIVE. However, it was not their baby, it was a random baby picture this woman routinely used in her scam. She was never even pregnant to begin with. The baby bump was fake, the pictures were fake, and she turned out to be much older than she claimed. They started doing background research on her and found 2 other families she had done this to. They were looking for more, and last I heard were trying to pursue legal action.
The thing about the situation that makes me feel sick is that this woman has hurt not only them, but also another real child and mother in need of help.
That’s sickening
Yo...that just cold.
The things people do for money.
Jesus... I'm so sorry that's just pure evil.
Oh my gosh… I’m so sorry to hear your close friend had to go through such a horrible, sickening event like that.
I can’t even imagine dealing with it, along with the financial and emotional loss…
I just went through something similar while trying to adopt a baby boy, I was scammed for 7 months, she had done this with all 6 of her other children had hopeful adoptive parents paying her bills and buying groceries throughout the pregnancy then 15 minutes before the hospital releases them she changes her mind 7 times ! All7 of those kids lived in a two bedroom apartment in the worst part of Albuquerque NM that u could smell before u ever entered the house it was the saddest hardest part of my life and it happened March 2020 so it was already a super scary unknown time

She’s an incredible actress. Her role as Aunt Lydia on Handmaids Tale is amazing. She’s great.
Look I’m sorry she was being used but that doesn’t give her the right to hurt these people, she’s not some poor innocent little girl she’s a woman who’s as willing to put a baby’s life at risk to make money and she didn’t care how many hearts she broke to do it.
It gives a whole new meaning to "They hurt me, so I hurt everyone else"
It's just a stinking tv program. Holy fuck, do you have shrapnel fragments inoperably embedded in your brain?
Carl Bailey damn so people are just supposed to watch tv with zero emotions? It’s not that deep calm down

L&O is always made out to be this idealistic take on the justice system but man I love it when the DA’s office catches their person.
I hate the 'they used me first so that means I'm the victim no matter what I do' argument. You stopped being a victim when you made the choice to make that your profession. You have something you sell/bid, and they buy it from you. You don't emotionally torture and extort people on some bullshit like that

Holy moly! I feel sorry for the families that went through this! I feel worse for that poor child! I know it’s fictional, but it shook me!
THIS might be fictional, but there are people out there that do similar and worse.
Squeaky McBeal ...because the child is USED as a pawn in a very sick game...
It shook anyone who has a heart, including myself.
Based on truth
Black market babies.
Look it up, it's a real thing. Babies snatched from their hospital beds and sold to couples without the parents knowing what happened to the child.
10,000 to adopt a kid??? That's super cheap. Heck a single round of IVF is usually 12,000 and up and most adoptions in the US are upwards of 43,000.
thats how they hook you until the child is born, then its twice to three times us adoption rates and/or IVF treatments
Well, it's 1990 so it would be a lot more in today's money
That’s almost $20,000 today.
Jesus
Listen again, it's 10,000 up front and then 75,000 when the baby is born too.
Can we just take a sec to appreciate the defence? One moment she was saying not to believe his testimony over the client, next breeder lady runs her mouth, and the defence was so disturbed she straight up asked for plea bargain
Law & Order sure knew what they were doing when they wrote these masterclass episodes.
Lmao the lawyer's expression after she's done her rant
Aunt Lydia 😯
She's been baby snatching from the beginning!
Now when you say snatching...
Lol 😂
Omg didn't realise this - was wondering why she looked familiar
Yesss I knew it was her😱😱😱😱
Omg, that IS the same actress, Ann Dowd, that plays Aunt Lydia 😮! I wouldn't have recognized her.
That's one sick greedy piece of work
no doubt she'd vote for Trump if she were real.

Paul Wettstein yay a moron who has to make everything political
Paul Wettstein just if you would vote for trump or not doesn’t make you a bad person. Trump won the election so are you calling all the people who voted for him bad people too? This girl extorted her baby and you are comparing her character on the same level to someone who voted for trump.
@@paulwettstein7071 hi you do know that President Trump was a Democrat before 2016 election right. So technically speaking I would say this is the way that Democrats normally think.

Thank you for the episode name, number and season in the description. The Law & Order : SVU is notoriously bad for not doing that. It's like shooting fish in a barrel trying to figure out which episode it is when you want to watch it.
I’m not 100% sure but I’m pretty confident the woman on that witness stand is Ann Dowd A.k.a. aunt Lydia from the handmaid‘s tale, and Patty from the leftovers.
I totally loved it when he looked at her and said you are such a bitc.! Awesome!
I feel sorry for the families who go through this, and I feel no sympathy for Debby.

I hope L&O is on Netflix or Prime...
@@MMuraseofSandvich You make things too real it gets boring. I've watched actual court room recordings of cases and they don't get nearly as fun to watch as this. That being said at least this is better than in SVU where someone finds new ways to smuggle a fucking weapon into the courtroom.
Legal Eagle: "The bailiff *will* tackle you!"

Whose to say that the woman who paid the money is a fit mother ? Just because someone has money does not make them moral or sane ! Trust me !
They have to go through years and years of evaluation just to be eligible for adoption. The defendant ends up in prison.
sadly, there are women like her in the world who would do this kind of garbage. that mother might have had a bad experience, but what she did was evil. selling babies like slavery, torturing and forcing parents like their indentured servants, and manipulating the police like they are her little employees. that is messed up.
Mrs Baxter is that actress from Handmaiden & other movies
We are the world we are the future 🎶
Fun note the acter that plays Mr Ben stone and the actress that plays Dorothy would go on to be in a movie called Shiloh years later they play husband and wife
Some of my grade 4 classmates were extras in that movie. I believe the one kid had an agent or whatever, like he did acting gigs here and there for a number of years. But for this movie, his friends got to join him.

There are so many orphanages with so many kids who have no parents. These people who get scammed all the time, why can't they give those angels homes? They are guaranteed a baby, no parents would come to claim the baby since most are orphans.
There are no guarantees that parents wanting to adopt will get a baby, there are more teenagers waiting to be adopted than there are babies.
I wonder when she got out of prison did she go right back to brokering babies. She was still young. 4 years was her minimum sentence. Seems possible.
I hear she got a great position brokering babies in Gilead.
