The Edison team that Latimer was a part of, were the first to patent the incandescent bulb, but the use of carbon arcs as electrical lighting was used 3 years before the patent in large stores and some towns. Latimer was awesome but he certainly didn't invent the light bulb exclusively. He was part of a team that was developing and improving on other non patented inventions at the time. The 'black man invented the light bulb and the white man stole it" is just racist bile and if Latimer were alive he would tell you to pull your head in and get an education like his and perhaps be a ground breaker like he was. He would roll in his grave knowing that so many black men are forgoing their education by holding onto this racist idea instead of sticking it to 'the man' like he did! "The white man stole it!"
