2015 United Way 4-Minute Shopping Spree

- A big crowd was on hand at the Scottsbluff Main Street Market Saturday morning, as Panhandle Coop partnered with United Way of Western Nebraska for their "4-Minute Shopping Spree", the culmination of a fundraiser to benefit the United Way campaign.
Raffle tickets were sold for $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 ahead of the event, and Becky Adams was drawn on Friday, November 13th as winner of the raffle.
Becky had a week to get a shopping strategy together prior to Saturday's fast four minutes.
The United Way payed for up to $750 worth of the groceries collected in the four minutes. Becky's grand total was $754.97.
United Way volunteers and partner agency representatives remained at the store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Bag & Carry Out customer’s groceries Saturday. Tips and free will donations are welcome and will go toward the 2015-16 campaign to help benefit the community.
She did a great job. She got mostly healthy foods and cleaning supplies! And she came so close to the $750.00. She ran and treated it like a spree. She was perfect in her shopping spree! It was also nice that they gave her 4 minutes. That allows her to get a better range of items than many of these 2 minute sprees.

Just by reading the comments I can tell many didn't read how she only had $750 worth of merchandise that she could get that would've been free and as for why so much meat? Well lol she's most likely a mom and meat is expensive. Honestly I would've done the same thing. If you notice she grabbed the more expensive things to buy in a grocery store (and not just meat). Raising kids is VERY expensive so getting help anyway you can is great!

Lobster! Fresh and frozen all of it, Big cans of olive oil, Legs of Lamb, ALL the beef especially the large roast cuts, T-bones, Rib eyes, steak tips. Lots of wings, I would try to get some big deli packages...roast beef. I would LOVE to do this just once in my life. I'd be eating steak and lobster every night for the next 10 years lol

From the looks at it look like she could only get 2 of same things. But she ran out of gas right before she started grabbing the beef items. Meat and laundry detergent is the highest items when you go grocery shopping so understand her on that.

Have you figured out why she went with the meat yet? I figure you have never had to buy groceries for a family before...that is why you don't understand the cost of the meat. Heck I would have grabbed all the lobster fresh and canned.
