We use an electric space heater in our 21 ft travel trailer so we aren't using up our propane. It does great heating up the whole camper.
I had a custom build mini woodstove installed in my truck camper. I don't go south and winter in cold, wet, snowy areas where there is an abundance of free wood. Best thing I ever did in improving my camper. Dry heat eliminates condensation. My nephew built it out of metal he had lying around his shop. We purchased the pipes. This is my third winter using it and wow what a difference. I sacrificed a small clothes closet to accommodate it and lined the closet in sheet metal. Before bed I tamp it down and let it go out. The sleeping bag and wool blankets keep me plenty warm. There is a Canadian van lifer I follow and he put one in his van. He also says it's the best thing he's done.
Talking about Foresty?...😁😁😁
…Or Slim Potatohead?
@@donnamount151 Yep, Foresty Forest!
@@yourekittenme. I follow Slim Potatohead too but usually when he's traveling. I think he put one in his cabin. Did he also put one in his RV?
LOL! My camper is on bed rest and is my bedroom. This video is just what I need. I can barely move under all of my blankets.
Mrs Carolyn, you ever use a flower pot on your stove? I keep forgetting to buy a terracotta flower pot, but basically it absorbs the heat from the eye and radiates the heat out consistently after you turn the stove off. Basically it is a radiant heater. So it saves propane and doesn't use the battery up.
Those little guys are certainly efficient and truly capable of warming up a small space and place. I bought a little Pelonis heater from Lowe’s several years ago. Got it on clearance for $3.88, and how I wish I would have bought 10 of those things. It has 3 speeds, a fan, and an additional knob to adjust the heat, if need be, and if I knock it over accidentally, or it tips in any way, it shuts itself off. It’s 1500 watts, so a bit more in pull than your little heater, but it works in sticks and bricks quite well, almost too well…lol….and I will use it on the road with my power station, if possible, so we’ll see how it works when I cross that bridge and all…lol. I love me some awesome calendars, especially with cool nature shots, beautiful strong women featured in each month…lol….and cute doggies, as well. Sounds like I’m getting one for a heck of a new year….lol. Stay safe and warm out there using your new heater, keeping you and Sadie roasty toasty. ✌️
Our RV furnace is an essential part of our Winter weather set up. Last year we stayed in MN in temps that got down to -35 F. We were able to keep running water on board all winter by using the furnace to keep the basements warm. Matter of fact when it got really cold we could only use the furnace, as using a Buddy or our electric heater would cause the basements to get too cold.
I got that same flannel shirt from Old Navy. Love it. I just bought a Kovea Cupid heater off of eBay that runs off a butane fuel canister. It is small. I think it will heat up my small space nicely but thank you for this great info as well!
Propane furnace is consumptive. In my small truck camper the oven works and this year I added a small 12v fan. That little generator is impressive. RVs are difficult to heat and cool.
Great idea, on my way south and it's been 34 degrees at night. Have a heater but takes a lot of power. This one would be perfect and I have the Oupes already.
Okay....I bought this little heater to keep my class C warm while I'm plugged in.
I'm very impressed with this little heater! We hit a record breaking -15C and my RV only went down to 15C.... 👍👍👍. Very good!
Thank you for sharing!
As for me, I have been exclusively boondocking for 8 years. Until last year I had only a 100 Amp hour battery. So I thought the Buddy heater was my only option. Last year I upgraded my solar so I could run a Chinese diesel heater. It got to minus 20 degrees where I was staying and that little diesel heater kept my drafty 1976 class C at a comfortable 65 degrees. Best $200 investment I've made.
Keep up the good work. I look forward to what you share next.
Omg! I have one of these!!! And it works amazingly! I've purchased a total of two of these and they work amazingly. The 2nd one even rotates. UT gets so hot sometimes I have to shut it completely off. Guys this is a good buy. Go and get you one!
Sweet...I was just starting to look for a 1000 watt heater so I can plug it into my Bluetti 150 (got it prior to your recent battery demos) and I believe the one you showed us will do the trick. Also looking forward to your 2023 calendar. It'll be nice to take you along on my journey as you've taken me! 🤗
What is the wattage for the bluetti ?
Keep warm by staying hydrated and in layers of clothing. When it’s cold put on gloves and a hat. Getting warmer, shed a layer until comfortable. Keep you feet warm, and especially your head. You loose heat most from both the top and bottom, so keep watch on your body. Add heat with local heating to the area you plan to stay. Like near your bedroom or where you can capture heat and store it.
Bought a little heater like that, lower wattage though, my first trip out. I don't have a furnace just electric a/c heater and had to crank the generator to take the chill off a couple of mornings, luckily I got one with remote start. I don't really get cold down here in the winter so those little heaters are perfect for southern winters.
Hope you got out of SC before the storm hit. We are still under a Tropical Storm Warning here in south central GA.
I bought regular household blackout curtains that had flannel backing on them. My mom cut them down and sewed them to the dimensions of my windows and then I use extension rods to keep them in place. I then bought a light weight bed spread I folded in half and my mom again sewed it together and sewed a pocket on top that I use a extension rod to keep it in place in front of the door. Then I have my trusty Olympian wave 8 heater that keeps me toasty warm. Love your Blanket video😊
I also used blackout curtains and cut them down and stitched them for my truck camper. I made them look like regular curtains and hung them on rods. That left a nice air space. Behind the curtains I have reflectics up at night and remove them in the day and open my curtains to get sunlight. Yes, yes, YES, on a curtain over the door. What a difference that makes! The blackout curtains are heavy and you can sure feel the difference sitting in front of them closed vs open. Although, mine are not lined like yours.
Heating a small space that you are actually using makes sense! Did I miss something about Mexico? I thought you were heading down there. Thanks Carolyn!
It's all about the Olympian heater...and don't forget to get a stove fan with your Olympian. The fan helps so much.
With that Uopes and 1000 watts you are going to get like an hour out of it. Not worth killing it for that much heat. I have two 12V 200AH Ampere Times, @24V, and with my 500W Andily (Actually 420 W) heater I'm only going to get like 6-8 hours max. When I first got the batteries, I tested them with a 1250W ceramic heater and the batteries shut off after 3.5 hours.
I'm almost home from my first solo adventure to Florida from NE Wisconsin. Being 66 and handicapped, I survived. But didn't really enjoy it. It was way too hot down there and now that I'm heading north, it's a bit chilly. I've learned several things. 1st never go to Florida unless it's January and not hurricane season.
2nd my no build, build not good enough
3rd. I need heat
4th My house battery needs to be hooked up to my engine.
5th Never trust Google Maps😡
I've only been out for 25 days and don't plan another trip till May. Probably to the North West.
Try the Trucker Path app for iPhone, if you have iPhone. Its mea t for truck drivers but I have a class C rv. Very good gps app has rarely steered me wrong. You just put in the dimensions and weight of your rig. Might be other truck gps apps too.
Blessings & blessed travels
Also, you can heat up a magic bean bag in your microwave or a hot water bottle in the bed
The warm Arizona desert is 36 degrees in Quartzite! My electric blanket is keeping me warm in bed but waiting for the sun 🚐 I have a 350 watt ceramic heater but need to get a power bank. It’s a great idea!
I am full time, in my van, and use a small space heater to heat my “personal space” while reading, journaling or watching CZcams. Since I’m often in cold climates it I conserve my propane by using my electric heater. I can plug it into my Goal Zero battery when I don’t have shore power or my van solar batteries are low. It keeps the rest of the van a bit warmer, too. Thanks.
Thank you!!!
Carolyn's Rv life 2023 Calendar done, bought, can't wait to get it and put it in my Rv. I have a little heater I use when on shore power.
Stay warm❣❣
I use both furnace and small electric heater!
Game changer
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the Super Thanks Paige!
You are so worth it Carolyn!!💯
Preordered my calendar!
This sounds like something I could possibly use at home. My larger heaters tend to blow my fuses. Plus it could be one to use when going car camping when we have a site with electricity. Thanks I will definitely get one off your page.
Hint...close your doors lol! Helps you stay warm 🤣
Darn it you posted this video 8 hrs to late. I bought a similar heater from Bomgaars earlier today. 😊
Calendars? I'm so glad I just found your channel. There's so much good helpful information. I'd like to know more about those calendars...Do you have a video about how you put them together, who does them for you etc. I may have to go that same route (living/working in an RV) now that my life has changed. Keep up the good work! Stay safe!
Thanks for watching! I do not have a video for making calendars. I make them digitally and have them printed. The pictures are from my travels. There are many calendar vendors to select from online.
You can sleep ON TOP of a heated blanket (or sit on if your not sleeping). Since heat rises. It works like a dream. I’ll do that and light a candle and between those 2 I’ll be hot which is how I like to be! I’m thinking if getting a tent wood stove. I want one so bad.
❤️🤗Hi Carolyn and Sadie❤️🤗☀️
Thank you ❤
Thank you for your recommendations! My bedroom is about the same square footage as what my van will be so I am going to test products out at home for now, to see how they stack up. At the moment my baseboard heater is blocked and I my window doesn't have a tight seal in one corner, so I have an air leak. The nighttime temps are about 23 degrees F with nothing but heating blanket. I am going to test that little heater and see how it does compared to my blankets and/or baseboard heaters. Can I handle it? Can I sleep with the window open (which is what I normally do all year round, its an MS temp thing) I will keep you posted!!
Are you going to do the small businesses Xmas ideas this year?
Is that Sadie eating? 😆
I used a lpgas heater in my 5thwheel. Saved my batteries for lights and tv .
Now the lpgas heater is in my bathroom in my offgrid cabin ,
For showing in cold weather .
I heat my cabin with wood .
The lpgas heater is a
Mr.Heater .
Off grid six years .
How do you keep your pipes or hoses from freezing and bursting?
How long will that heater run on high hooked up to the Oupes? Thanks
STARTS at 4:10
Awesome! Already ordered. Thank you.
Hope you like it!
great!!!🦌💌❤️🚙🙏👍🇨🇦
You have OPES..... What happened to your jackery generator?
Nice review.Where do you put in so it doesn't get knocked over ?
Can you please tell me if that ceramic heater is quiet when running? I have an old one and it is sure noisy (different brand).
Yes I forgot to mention that it's very quiet.. It has a fan but it's not noisy at all
What about the jackery? Is this a new and better power source?
The heater uses 1000 watts which oupes generator works best compatipility with this heater so that that there is no blowout.?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Calendar ordered! FYI: There was no choice for quantity- it just asked for payment.
Thank you! If you want to order more than one you can place a second order. thank you!
😊✌🙋♀
Carolyn, 2nd vid now that you didn't use the Jackery Solar Generator. Is the Oupes a better one? More powerful? Just curious.
Again, another great vid for RV nomads & prepping for winter. Love 2 Cavies in Sarasota
Part of the deal of Oupes giving me a battery to give away was to do 2 more integrated videos featuring their products. I did thorough reviews of both the Jackery and the Oupes each have their own benefits and features. Oupes is very affordable and a great value for the money.
@@CarolynsRVLife keeping it real. 👍🏻
Thanx for the feedback...kind of what I expected. Keep warm out there.
Last winter I had my heat on only for 2 nights & 7 mornings to get chill out of the air. That's Sarasota!
✌😎👍
Great video. It was fun to see your old stomping grounds. And it was pretty cool to see your Mom with Sadie.
That wasn't my mom.. just a friend and Patron at our campout :-)
I got my heater! I was surprised it heated up my room nicely, until...it tripped the circuit breaker, lol! Can't use it with extension cord, so plugged it into the only available wall outlet. It ran grat until...my daughter turned on her space heater, lol! Our electric needs to be replaced, we know, but it was an adventure. But it works!!
Glad you like it!
Pity you don't post to Australia
🦋Did someone hack your account? I got posts from you in different languages. It just looked different from your regular posts.
Those are not from Carolyn. Those are bot trolls and they are all over this platform. Carolyn did a video on them as people were being tricked into contacting them.
I missed that video. Ugh... some people are just 💩
@@lynettehodnicki5240 IKR? I report them constantly and I mute their accounts but they just open another account on CZcams and spam away. CZcams could make multiple user accounts linked. Etsy did it.
