#kireth #simracing #review - Hry
You allways know someone is using a Moza wheel, when you can hear the shifters three blocks over 😅
Cheap and cheap
There is not many videos of Pimax Crystal Light for sim racing. Few of Microsoft Flight Simulator PCrystal Light reviews and that’s it. I missed the roadshow in London as it was overbooked. But here we are now, I see it what I wanted to see. Will be looking for video tutorial and experimenting how to start it and what additional programs (open VR) and settings to use. (90hz). Thanks for that Kireth. Good to know you’re UK based! My device has arrived in UK warehouse already. Apparently Assetto Corsa Competizione is demanding in VR. AC Evo will be a treat!
Let’s us know what’s ur impressions!
Iracing needs a graphics overhaul lol. It seems a bit cartoonish to me and i cant explain it. It's like the shading isn't there. The reflections are dull and the colors are too vibrant or something. Its so different then everything else. But I can't tell what is different.
The graaphics in iracing are an actual joke, its a 2002 game n it looks like it, they updated the graphics a few time but its like putting lipstick on a pig, they meed to completely remake the game there no other way around it, with assetto evo here iracing is gonna lose most its playerbase once its up n running competitive daily races online.
@@Sideways_Singhif assetto evo doesn’t do the most important thing right (online racing) then no, iracing will not loose anything.
@@lor7780 simgrid n that other online site holds races like hourly for assetto now so as long as theres a good penalty system it will be epic
The graphics aren't terrible. The problem is that everything looks so clean. If they'd just put a dirt pass over everything it would look a lot more realistic.
Yeah its old
The size of that thing ....lmao
I get this a lot
Ziiiing@@Kireth
Good to see a pimax light video for sim racing as none out there, currently have a quest 3 which tbf is awesome and a crystal light sitting on the side waiting for the prescription lenses and padding. Cannot wait, good vid 👌
I’m concerned about the quality of it. I gather it’s hit or miss.
@@user_16309 Apparently there quality control is not the best but yet to see someone say they received a bad head set, fingers crossed
@@user_16309 Turns out the quality was piss poor and I’ve returned it. Severely poor head tracking, the narrowest of windows for sharpness and barrel distortion. Massively let down has to be said.
Cool stuff Kireth💪🥰
Thanks!!
Great Vid!!! Cheers!!!
Very glad you enjoyed it!!!
How big is the fov?
Can you compare it to MQ3? Sure it’s better, but is it worth the upgrade?
Nice vid. What GPU were you using?
When you use shaker and Motion the beyond is much better. Also better latency. Thanks to oled
Try the bigscreen beyond vr headset
Did you ever solve the IPD issues and sharpness at a distance problem? I’m experiencing the same issues.
Would it not be a setting like ‘scale’ to make the cars etc smaller/bigger
What system are you running?
Hi Kireth, I'm interested in the pimax crystal light, but was wondering what pc specs you are running thanks
Great video. Will you be doing a review of the psvr2 once they release the kit so it can connect to pc. Would be great to hear your thoughts on how it performs.
Great video!! Would be great to see what level of settings and graphics quality you can get to keep it mostly locked at 90Hz in ACC. On the Aero I'm mostly on epic with a few tweaks and running 90Hz. Very interested to compare the lack of dynamic foveated rendering in Pimax Crystal lite versus the Aero. Also running a 4090 for context.
I don't think enough is said about how much a difference DFR makes.
If you do and able to make a video, I'm certain bringing in static foveated rendering in for the comparison is a good idea.
Anyway, thanks again for your videos and time you put in.
Cheers
I agree. I think the DOF only matters when you are making content and uploading the videos (live) to CZcams. It is noticeable in that everything surrounding the high rendered eye tracked parts look like 320p
@@andreas9119 If you can see it, you've set it up wrong.
I bought a quest 3. At first I was amazed. But then I realized that I was blind when trying to use any button on my wheel. I also couldn't handle long sessions at all. Maybe it's just not for me.
You’ll probably get used to both the buttons and longer sessions with time. It took me a few weeks to adjust but once you do it is incredible and extremely hard to go back to flat screen
@@jonahbusch1194 It is pretty easy for me tbh. I have VR for many years and a ultrawide screen and I play mostly on the screen. Most of the time I am just not in the mood to wear a headset. It is hot and really disconnecting from the real world. That also makes it very immersive so I will not sell it (yet).
Maybe you must wear it open. With a halostrap and without gasket. Believe me. It works.
@@ThePape78that was my first change to it. No more sweat, and can peak under the quest if I need to find solething when racing. When in the pit, double tap to the side and I can see my room, love it
@@Bambeakz Just use a small USB fan man.. I am happy and regret not getting one earlier.
Your code doesn't work for me on the headset only, i haven't checked other packages
I’m going to wait for the Crystal Super. 30% smaller and huge lenses for a massive FOV. Will be my first Pimax. Maybe the timing will work with AC Evo by the end of the year. Will probably want to swap my 4090 for a 5090 as well 😅
Have you compared this to the Big Screen Beyond OLED VR headset?
No, I would LOVE to try that!
i sent back my big screen and got a crystal light.... the Big screen had terrible glare and fov is nothing like the Pimax
@@gaminginstilllife9429 The light weight of the Big Screen was the big plus for me, but if the image quality is not as good I guess I can deal with the added bulk of the Pimax Light. How does it feel after extended use?
The reason for me it is actually not good for sim racing is that if you have a headrest the knob on the back will push your head forward. So had to go with the bigscreen beyond. Love the Micro-oled, wont go back to lcd, even my quest pro with local dimming doesnt come close.
Do you mean a headrest that wraps around the top of the seat?
@@Kireth yes those and ones that have headrest really close to head causing it to push neck forwards. Yours seem to already sit more forward so not a problem for you. My rig it is.
I notice this in my car lol, I wonder if it's because when I'm racing IRL I'm wearing a crash helmet
How does this compare to PSVR2? I’ve only used it for GT7. I’ve been on PC sim racing for 7 months now. Very underwhelmed with PsVR2 quality. It was novel at first but wore off quickly bc I see screen door effect or whatever it’s called. Seems way lower quality visually than looking at my 1440p monitors.
czcams.com/video/nXw7b14KWyY/video.htmlsi=JJXbZ10jVrvJSBfY
@@Kireth Pimax > PSVR2 got it lol
have you tried bigscreen hmd?
Great question in guessing not as they beyond is far better as there is zero inertia when moving your head. I went from bthecaero to the beyond. I'll be we go back. Yes the beyond has some glare and the sweet spot is smaller than the aero, quest3 and crystal but the benefits of oled panels (colours, black levels, response rate), performance, weight, comfort, setup.
The only thing the crystal and aero are better on is sweet spot and fov.
Plus pimax headsets are ugly as son.
I feel like the Reverb G2 is still the best bang for the buck. Its light and good. Didnt try any of these headsets though.
It was but the g2 will not work anymore in the near future. Say thanks to Microsoft . They will delete WMR
@@ThePape78 Sure? I read they will just cut support/development but it will still work.
Inside-out trcking is a must for me. I DETEST those bloody lightboxes.
Wii bar vibes
For simming only one u need
Same for me
@@ThePape78 You don't need any base stations for sim racing, I just use inside out tracking. I don't own any base stations, thank God.
So @kireth, your crystal is now a paperweight? (no pun intended LOL) .. I'm waiting on a Crystal Super (still no a Reverb G2)
Can u use this with open XR?
Yes
but you have the lighthouses/etc? Many of us do not so it's expensive now to get crystal light, faceplate, and light houses and controllers IF NECESSARY later. too much.
The future is here: pulls out device larger than his head and plays game that looks like clay😂
At least your neck is feeling the g forces from the headset weight lmao
Looks good. I like the headset, just don't feel like it's for me. To do so I gotta give up fov for better looking visuals. If I sold my 8kx, only cost me about £400. I knew this might not be for me before release of 1st crystal. Boss man said, this might not be for sim racers who love fov. Thats my only stumbling block. I'm probably alone but I love my 8kx. Has its issues, what pimax doesn't lol. I'll wait for a crystal pro, every loves the pro word. Same crystal light but with a little more weight for a bigger screen. If I got into flight games, I'd buy one. MsFS all about the visuals, racing not so much. I'm focused on next turn, not pixels.
What are the other pros and cons of the 8kx out of interest?
@@Kireth native 4k per eye, upto 120hz, upscaling or native, 160 fov, screen size modes, dmas (headphones like valve index). Being able to keep my head still as i can see all my mirrors and the road without moving . Base stations, so I can use my index controllers, no extra cost unlike crystal, although £100 with headset a good deal. Negative. Needs a lot of juice 4090 is ideal, 3090 is good but performance is way better on 4090. Not much else. Software buggy, that's not specific to 8kx, screen tears a little on edges, all pimax before crystal also do that. Looks a little blurry on corners. Unless you race looking at the far edges with your eyes, instead of the road. you'll not see that far over. complaint from ppl who stare at vr images too long. Only issue I have specific is the cost to get it working native and well. Anything below 3090, doesn't have enough juice to run vr and such a power hungry headset. You can upscale with anything 2080 upwards.
Tbh I almost got the CL this week. Couldn’t get past the FOV. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, certainly. FOV was the dealbreaker.
when do they make a headset for normal big peapol a IPD of max 72 in only for acian and small face peapol :-( my IPD is 79
Bro is that a typo?
@@Kireth no my IPD is 79 have a PSVR2 i have to put rubberi in it to expand the ipd just so i can barly use it
i did have that crystal light for 2 weeks, now I have to wait for a replacement device … it had too many issues. device is awesome if it works! but they must improve the quality!
What issues did you have? I’m struggling with IPD and sharpness looking with both eyes open.
@@user-dn4em6et7g yes, that was also an issue. but it got better with a face mod.
LMAO!!!!! Yes we all know about the Crystal Light VR headsets. But, I have had the Ques 3 for quite a while now (long before Crystal light headsets even announced) and use my VR headset for SIM racing.
The Quest 3 works well for my SIM racing and I use it for many other activities. It is somewhat cheaper than the Crystal light and much lighter in weight and less bulky in size on my head. The Quest 3 is also wireless if I want to use that feature, but for SIM racing, I connect via USB link cable.
I agree, The Crystal light headset is a great product if you don't already have another VR headset and the prices are just a little bit higher than the Quest 3. So I feel either Quest or PIMAX are good affordable VR headsets.
Take care.
I went to the full Pimax crystal from quest 3. At first I couldn’t get a good sweet spot like I did with quest 3. Once I bought the comfort strap it’s perfect.
I was fully happy with quest 3 as well. I just wanted a direct connection to the video card.
I was a bit stunned at first switching until I kept myself in the sweet spot. Both are great headsets
@@lukebraddford3287 That is great you like the PIMAX Crystal headset. For me, I did not want something that big and bulky on my head plus the full Crystal headset was over my budget to spend that much money.
Have fun with your PIMAX headset. take care.
okay
I mean, the Crystal Light is larger, but if you buy a Bobo VR Elite strap with the battery (the most popular head strap for the Q3), they weigh about the same (Quest 3 is actually heavier I believe in that instance). I don't have my Crystal Light yet, but from my research, it is perfectly balanced and extremely comfortable, so I don't really see size and weight as a factor. "Bulky" really has no bearing once you are in it, especially for sim racing. I love my quest 3, but there are some shortcomings that I can see and I'm looking to the Crystal Light to shore those up. CL had 40% better pixel density and a better FOV - that's worth something.
Problem with VR is in ovals. I have a meta 3 and with triple 32s I can see out my windows just as I would in a real car without looking. In VR, you can’t. When you’re 150mph and inches away from multiple vehicles you can’t be turning your head constantly looking for distance to the vehicle next to you. If they could fix that I’d be all in.
Maybe try the Pimax 8K X. It's the one with the biggest Fov of all, but the trade off it's some aberrations mid-lens.
they need to copy the size of a skiing goggle for me to deal with them. I would be fine if a cord ran from base unit to glasses. Too much weight for my head. Looks like a lot of fun. I know plenty of people that feel the same way. Perhaps in 3-5 years they will have an engineering breakthrough. Next generation product.
I wish I didn’t get motion sickness
do some races on ACC and try Rennsport
ACC with the bigger car is due to scale. I think you change the scale. But I don't like ACC. I think AMS2 is the best VR racing game out there.
Also, you should get Crystal Super with a higher FOV because it gives you better side views for better peripheral awareness.
? the light is on market for over 4 weeks dude.
many reviews out there
The future of VR sim racing is here ...again. Pretty burned out on VR in simracing and thinking of going for tripple screens next. VR is the most immersive experience by far but most of the time I don't want to wear a headset so I still play on my ultrawide. This massive headset looks like a step back to me.
I realise you probably have a PC VR headset, but I'll comment anyway 🙂
I'm on console, but platform wars aside, my VR2 headset is very light and comfortable, easy to just get up and running, which supports your point of simplicity and fuss-free use being key for a lot of us.
Much prefer my Varjo Aero to my Crystal for sim racing.
warning, dont make my mistake. i got a Pimax crystal light. awesome headset. but my 4070 super is no where good enough... must have at least a 4080 or way better
What are the other pros and cons of the light? I suspect you should still be able to run the light, but I'm not an expert
@@Kireth the face pad and the housing is the only part of the headset that needs serious redesign. the face foam is just a spong and the housing should be made with magnets instead of the hooks it uses now. also they are always out of the 15mm face pad. when you use Hons vR lens inserts they lens hit my face eye sockets and leave oils on them. other than that I love the crystal light. software was super easy to use. i was really surprised how good the software is. the build quility is great but must get the dmas headphone, reg headphone are no good at all. expert tip, get the samsung odyssey face pads, they are thick and work good
Life of PC users .. not good enough...my video card is almost 2 yrs old .. I NEED TO Upgrade!!!!
If it needs 4080-4090 it means it's gonna cost 1500-2500€ for the gpu and 800-1200€ for a headset? This is still rich kids toys
@snippidippi it's always been that way to be on the cutting edge of technology.. the crystal super and sominum vr1 will need a 5090 to run decently.. the only other option is to wait for prices to drop but life is too short and by the time the prices drop there will of course be something much better on the cutting edge making today's cutting edge obsolete... better to get the best you can afford and enjoy now as otherwise we'll always be playing catchup.. yet the crystal light is the first hmd priced reasonably compared to the other options making the near enough cutting edge in optics affordable for more people..personally I'm waiting for the crystal super for even better optics (even better clarity and fov and eye tracking) that will be competitive with the somnium vr1 and latest varjo hmds with similar specs but way better priced.. if you don't have a 4090 you're better off waiting for the 5090 later this year as that will last you longer with this new generation of vr hmds
wait till super imo
They need to start making these things stupidly big, lol so uncomfortable..
Why does it feel like your slightest to the left of center in both games?
WHEN IT COMES TO PSVR2 AND THE LIKES OF ACC, WHICH IS IT THAT STOPS IT BEING AVAILABLE ON PSVR2? IS IT SONY? THE ACTUAL GAME DEV'S? IF THE PSVR2 CAN HANDLE GT7 THEN IT COULD HANDLE PRETTY MUCH ANY SIM - SO WHATS STOPPING IT?
