Zero out the scale while the grippers hanging on it first, then clamp on the fish for a more accurate reading. Especially if it's a pb. Nice catch regardless

Nice. Unexpected to see such a large bass caught at Lake Balboa. I have been to Lake Balboa but do not know its sections, or where to fish. Where did you catch this 7.8 lb bass and at what time of day? Generally where are the best locations at Lake Balboa to catch the larger bass, and what times during the day?
Walking counter clockwise from the southwest side near the balboa avenue entrance, there's a popular cove where fishermen seem to fish mostly with live worm, the walking counter clockwise there a fly fishing area, then an outlet to a stream, then the boats, then a section from the boats to the waterfall, then a section from the waterfall back to the southwest cove.

A 7.8! That’s the biggest I’ve seen out of there. I’ve caught one 5, a few 4s, and a ton of 2-3. All on smaller baits and #6 line though - gonna bring out some bigger plastics now

I fish these urban socal ponds all the time and it’s awesome seeing your videos ! I’m learning tons of information one thing I noted is how you cast a long side the wall and get bit ! Most ponds around me don’t have any structure and it just clicked that the wall is the structure

Yea surprisingly they like to be shallow a lot of the time but you also need some stealth if the water is clear but even then it's tough

Surprisingly it works as a bottom bait rod but not ideal haha but the fmj or bmg might be better but I'd say try it 👍🏼
