- Getting into character for an actor is a deeply personal act. So it's not really a surprise that playing a character that's contending with a terminal illness can make a person reflect. Ryan Eggold, who plays Dr. Max Goodwin on NBC's new hit drama "New Amsterdam," opened up about reflecting on life and death.
Along with his co-star, Freema Agyeman (Dr. Helen Sharpe), the duo sat down with NBC10 anchor Jacqueline London to discuss their hopes for "New Amsterdam" and how one loves looking at the medical imagery, blood and guts while the other avoids them like the plague.

I agree, but they are excelents actors too. In my personal opinion i am not so sure about Ryan: he says he is not racist but all his girlsfriend or relationships in the past have been beautifull white women (actresses or models). Let´s see what happens in the future. But of something i´m sure: If he really gets involved in a relationship with this black beauty, kind, talentous woman as Freema Agyeman is, he will be happy forever. and he will understand all over the Max performance he plays, why Mr. David on season 3 ep. 6, asked to him "have you ever loved a black woman?" We (the black women) are really uniques, honests, hot, delicious without any doubt and specials.

I rarely don't watch TV shows, but when New Amsterdam came out I got hooked. The show gives insights of reality in life and how some doctors literally go out of their scope to help people.
I also love watching this show for it brings joy because at the end of each show they show how a negative situation turn to a positive, how hate turns to love. This show illustrates how love heals . This show touches hearts as it has done to me so many times . New Amsterdam needs to stay on forever. People watch this show and it gives a healing process. Thank you so much New Amsterdam!

I have just started watching this show. Done with season 1. I cannot understand why this cast and show have not been nominated for Golden Globe. It so a refreshing take on a medical show
I like this interview of them. They are so comfortable and always look at each other.
This show is sooo awesome, it takes you to deep places. I've cried several times watching. As they say "A MUST SEE". Yes they are very touchy feely.

It’s funny how these two always sit so close together. There is a ton on room on that couch and they are touching arms. All their interviews are that way.

I’ve been in love with Ryan since he played Tom on The Blacklist. Actually I lost interest when he left. But I’m so happy he’s on New Amasterdam. He’s my boyfriend/lover/husband in my head. Him and Freema💋💋💋💋, I’m routing for them.

Love this show but have to admit the chemistry is obvious with him and her. Not sure if they are a couple off screen however on screen the chemistry is obvious. Not sure if this is scripted or just one doctor having respect admiration and compassion for another doctor. The chemistry between the two of them is undeniable sometimes we forget he has a wife on the show

The writers and pr really are promoting this pairing. They know what they are doing. It was pretty easy to know that they'll do what was revealed in the season 2 premiere.

When Ryan says something he always looks towards her eyes. The body language says they are so close. There was an episode in season 1 where i saw in his eyes that he cared for her for real. I like their chemistry on and off screen, and it makes me want them to be together in real life. But I remember Joey said in Friends that if they have chemistry on stage then they aren't doing it in real life.

It's indeed a great show...reflecting changes every community, institute, etc needs, at least in my country. I hope we see more of them. And the characters are improving little by little.
The only thing I feel stupid about is fussing over cancer while it is not a big deal in our traditional medicine, in many ways...easily melted tumors without injecting poison into body..

I really enjoyed this interview. They are both lovely. However, the host mostly had questions for Ryan. I was hoping she had more questions for Freema as well. I love the way Freema conveys things about her character. I wonder how much of her character, Helen, is her? Beautiful pair.🕊❤️❤️🕊

Hey he is the husband Tom keen in the show The Black List on Netflix its a really good show.
He convincingly played so many different characters on that show that I became a real fan! From kindergarten teacher to assassin, etc. I think he was an amazing on Black List.
