The atgms on the type 89 are also just so broken and bad now, that they’re just a complete pain to use. Rip to the old Type 89. Killed by nerf after nerf.

I'm not sure but the type 89 is still in service today as a IFV for japan (going by the wiki on it), and I'm thinking the JSDF is not using a 1989 variant of the IFV currently but an upgraded variant which would make sense. I think that gaijin could add an upgraded variant of the type 89 with APFSDS and better ATGM's or something because japan is kind of suffering in the light tank/vehicle department with all these RB changes pushing everything in japan up and the m735 being nerfed.
Well actually there isn’t an upgraded model yet. JGSDF have started to modernise them in 2023, after decades of neglect for other areas of the Japanese military, like the type 10s, navy, etc. this modernised type 89 is called the type 89 Kai. It has the same cannon, but way more armour, better fire control systems, data link, modernised missiles (new all purpose type 20 HMAT) an upgraded engine, and more sensors for battle awareness. Needless to say, I think it would be a great addition to top tier Japan.

i fucking love the Type10 and TKX but now with the Type-75-SPH and Type-75-MLRS has a special place in my heart. Type-81 has gotten me so much hate for using to the point of having almost 20 angry DM's after 5-10 games

As a Japan main i feel proud of you Type 81 is the vehicle i urge the most to unlock , since i hasnt had time to farm , so i use Type 93 and it has been doing well Type 75 SPH goes boom when it hits an enemy tanks , i love to snipe with it , hope Gaijin adds the Type 99 that is a succesor of the Type 75 SPH , the version one with missiles if you know to use it , hits hard Type 10 , TKX and Type 90 has made my games better , even with angry dms , those 4 seconds recharge are godly
The problem is that this vehicle is quite reliant on your team and at 9.0 range is where premium spam is. Not to mention nerfing the hardware of the vehicles itself is in my opinion is stupid. It'd be better to increase the BR than it is to just neutered it like this. This used to be my favorite vehicle back before they changed the missile guidance and now with the missile that is one of its redeeming quality being nerfed just made me not want to play it. This along with the fact that I just can't get used to the missile guidance change since I was very used to the old missile guidance made it pretty miserable to play for me.
interestingly, the german marder 1 tanks launching the missiles straight every other (that is not a tank barrel launched ione) dips below start waving (except LOSAT, but that is more or less useless tank) and likely you whack it into the ground.
The biggest targeted nerf was the reduction in missiles, the penetration/missile nerf affected every other tank across the board so I wouldn't take that to heart. HOWEVER: the biggest nerf that messes with flankers/sniper style tanks was the forced cqc style maps.
In my opinion, the Type 89 is a stable vehicle, the BR and the module are balanced. Yes, it's true that this vehicle has been nerfed many times, but the average opponent is a light vehicle and its main weapon is more than enough to eliminate such a vehicle, and even if there is a very protected vehicle, it can be finished with an effective ATGM, and It is also true that the ATGM has been nerfed, but as we can see in this video, the ATGM can penetrate the composite armor of the T-55AM. In my opinion, the Type 89 is a good vehicle and worth your time grinding
Ngl the way you play this vehicle, you make it look pretty beastly. I'm barely surviving with the type 87 rcv (p) at the moment so this for japan I can work with!
Don't hold your breath when you shoot, fire during the natural pauses after inhale or exhale. Holding your breath causes tension in the muscles and can mess up your shot especially at distance.
previously the missiles would spin in a circle before finally honing in on a target after the atgm nerf but all of a sudden after the most recent update that seems to be fixed
@@kagari_toram Just checked again and no the type 79 missile doesn't do the ridiculous spin anymore they do a slight "wobble" now which corrects itself pretty quick, now its nowhere near as bad as it used to be quite usable
Dont forget the abysmal vertical rotation speed of the ATGM launchers. Its performance has just been going down since the time they removed the fire on the move feature. Its gun is still ok (havent tried it at 9.0 yet) and in my experience the ATGM just doesnt work well in a lot of maps
They're he to attack, not heat to attack. I personally had a hard time using them against anything the cannon could not deal with. They're good against sneaky lights tank hiding behind a hill, though
The missile have changed in accordance to realistic change. You can't say the BMP-2M has never changed. Though in my experience they're super easy to deal with as someone who has 11.7 in all but German/Israel.

my all time favourite ground vic is the type 89 for so many reasons it's just very sad to see it get slammed into peace's evreytime I see a change log (over exaggeration but you get the point) However there is light at the end of the tunnel, a new Japanese ifv has been spotted around the dock yards and test grounds. and 1 was potentially bought from Finland. 1 is based on the patria amv (the chassis of the ct-cv 105hp) however we don't know much about this one yet just that Japan bought 140 of there engines as of rn and are expected to get 810 of the actual amvs, we don't even know if they will make it a ifv just yet as it's still very early stages but looks very promising the second one is a type-16 with a 30mm bushmaster 2 mk 44 (same gun on the cv-90-30 fin) and a periscope on the rear as it's ment to be a scout ifv, there's also a prototype with a mk 46 apparently.

I used this and the RCV to grind out high tier japan, basically the only two fun vehicles for me at rank 6 (Didn't use the Type 16 since it was a higher br), as soon as I got the Type 90 the nerfs came for them and I never used them since, just not fun anymore getting sucked up into perma 10.0 games, was completely fine at 8.7 especially with the nerfed missiles
Yeah. The CV90 platform is suppose to withstand a 30mm AFPDSD from front also but i dont think it can in game. Plus i think the breach isnt big at all. Gaijin just made the autoloader part of it. It same as on Otomatic. The gun breach it self is is small and it is suppose to have 2 autoloaders, but thanks to Gaijin modeling, they model it as a breach. Other then that super video
I get the talisman for it years ago as i unlocked it (just in time for sales), since it was a solid IFV. Then nerf after nerf i heavily left behind it, after the spade, since it was pointless trying even to have fun; a little before the ATGMs nerf i recrew it, used also during the nerf and dropped not one but two nukes, the second made out of mostly scouting and 3 missiles kills (at far range they were enough reliable). Now i probably will use as a part for the Battlepass challenge on the various main gun calibers, complete it, grab the Breda Autocannone and taking a long break from WT (it's time to get paid from other stuff i made in these weeks and finally buy the PS5, as both my personal gift for birthday and Christmas. Founded from my local retailer store so i'm taking a week off from work just for playing Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man 2 and another run on GoW Ragnarok, i can't wait for the next friday to grab it😁🤩🥰🖤)
the 7vs7 thing has happende a LOT over the last 1-2 years for me in br 10.3(10.0) and above , esp at certain hours(even with both EU/NA servers on). its one of the reasons i prefer the 8.7-10.0 range more.

Japan doesn't get much for vehicles never mind the lack of premiums. I luv Japan but making it through the lower BR's a while back wasn't a fun chore. I do like the Type 87 I used to play that all the time before they added the newer one to the line.
These nerfs and the huge hole for Japan in 7.7 makes me wish that Gaijin could at least add a subtree for Japan like from Thailand probably because Gaijin's position has to avoid Korea as a subtree for Japan anyways. And the thing is, Thailand does actually have unique vehicles that could fill the gaps for Japan.

Thailand on the other hand was an active and voluntary ally as well as the rest of Southeast Asia that while were puppets, were part of the GEACPS. Asian Development Bank also finances a lot in these countries and Japan is often the largest exporter to these countries which just got recently superseded by China and the US.
But actually better in its nerfed state in both BR and capability. Playing both even though it has APDS it does way more damage than the dart round of the VCC.

still better than a bradley. thats why its 9.0. Why the M3 Bradley (now 8.3 for some fucking reason) still doesnt have M919 while being objectively the worst IFV in the game is a mystery; only arguably beaten by the Warrior.
TOWs are really annoying to use now on any vehicle. they almost fall out of the launcher and the missile eats dirt way more than it should, and the tracking is awful. This vehicle is still exceptionally good however. The cannon shouldn't be overlooked nor should its mobility.
It used to have magazines of 30 then they nerfed it to 5 round per mag then a 34 round stowage with a long reload for each and every shell you replace in that stowage. Its bs. I remember playing this vic when it first dropped in game. Its a shame how much they bastardized it. Taking away the commander crew member was a real slap in the face alond with 2 atgms when you got others like bradleys with 12. At this point just take it out the game if you cant even go an update without nerfing it. Give us back all the rp and sl pumped into it.

This thing should never have been nerfed so much, I don't believe it was that powerful, not when you compare it to something like the BMP-2M, it was a pain in the ass to deal with before and then it gets APFSDS + IRST to become an even bigger pain in the ass than ever before but Gaijin didn't change a thing about it so they honestly think it's balanced. 😂 A few days ago, I saw footage of this IFV launching an ATGM, it wasn't going sideways and the missile didn't drop one bit yet, in-game it's completely messed up but then again all atgms are broken,they aren't supposed to work the way they do now.
Ah yes the Type 89, the most butchered Vehicle in the entirety of War Thunder... I remember a time when this was 8.3 and still had it's APHE shells, long gone as of today. Guess i was killing too many Germany/Soviet mains with it!
I still use this vehicle up to 11.0 i love it but wth is with the nerfs? hardly anyone play Japan can't other nations have good IFV's than Russians?? Playing Japan made me a better player because of how difficult they are to play with, love Japan all the way.
I completed Japan first and im conceived Gaijin just secretly hates Japan. With the ATGM change and the luanch angle nerfs. Ive literally lost half my ATGMs becuase they spiral down into the ground. On top all that what kills me is ATGM change was for Realism... but irl YT videos show Tows from AH-1 and these dont spiral or even act close to how they fly in game.

My type 90 got .50ed once, right through my turret frontal armor. So yeah Japanese armor is weird in Warthunder

Well, Gaijin needs to give more ATGM like the earlier version. Compared to the era when it came, the situation is more harsh.
Japan doesn't get much for vehicles never mind the lack of premiums. I luv Japan but making it through the lower BR's a while back wasn't a fun chore. I do like the Type 87 I used to play that all the time before they added the newer one to the line.
These nerfs and the huge hole for Japan in 7.7 makes me wish that Gaijin could at least add a subtree for Japan like from Thailand probably because Gaijin's position has to avoid Korea as a subtree for Japan anyways.
And the thing is, Thailand does actually have unique vehicles that could fill the gaps for Japan.
Why avoid Korea in Japan?
Heck no. Let Japan be Japan. Japan is the hardest tech-tree and us Japan mains take pride in it. No need for other countries in our tech-tree.

Japan needs a subtree. Not Korea though, Korea has enough vehicles to be a minor nation on its own.

Thailand on the other hand was an active and voluntary ally as well as the rest of Southeast Asia that while were puppets, were part of the GEACPS. Asian Development Bank also finances a lot in these countries and Japan is often the largest exporter to these countries which just got recently superseded by China and the US.

TOWs are really annoying to use now on any vehicle. they almost fall out of the launcher and the missile eats dirt way more than it should, and the tracking is awful. This vehicle is still exceptionally good however. The cannon shouldn't be overlooked nor should its mobility.

It used to have magazines of 30 then they nerfed it to 5 round per mag then a 34 round stowage with a long reload for each and every shell you replace in that stowage. Its bs. I remember playing this vic when it first dropped in game. Its a shame how much they bastardized it. Taking away the commander crew member was a real slap in the face alond with 2 atgms when you got others like bradleys with 12. At this point just take it out the game if you cant even go an update without nerfing it. Give us back all the rp and sl pumped into it.

This thing should never have been nerfed so much, I don't believe it was that powerful, not when you compare it to something like the BMP-2M, it was a pain in the ass to deal with before and then it gets APFSDS + IRST to become an even bigger pain in the ass than ever before but Gaijin didn't change a thing about it so they honestly think it's balanced. 😂
A few days ago, I saw footage of this IFV launching an ATGM, it wasn't going sideways and the missile didn't drop one bit yet, in-game it's completely messed up but then again all atgms are broken,they aren't supposed to work the way they do now.

Playing Japan made me a better player because of how difficult they are to play with, love Japan all the way.
I completed Japan first and im conceived Gaijin just secretly hates Japan. With the ATGM change and the luanch angle nerfs. Ive literally lost half my ATGMs becuase they spiral down into the ground. On top all that what kills me is ATGM change was for Realism... but irl YT videos show Tows from AH-1 and these dont spiral or even act close to how they fly in game.
