The "Spontaneous" Bracelet Tutorial - FAIL!?... 3 Easy DIY Bracelets You Can Make At Home Too!

  • So I have decided to make a bracelet spontaneously following a ring tutorial which didn't exactly go to plan. I ended up making 3 rather pretty bracelets, but how did the jewelry making process go? Was it a fail or win?
    Either way, you can try and make them too. They are really not difficult at all and you will not need much to create these diy bracelets.
    I hope you enjoy this slightly unusual video tutorial and let me know your thoughts.

    To make these bracelets I used the following materials and tools:
    Silver and copper wire - copper based, tarnish resistant, 18 gauge.
    Swarovski sew on crystals in 4 whole setting - 6.5mm silver colour plated and rose gold colour plated and 1 large 8.4mm crystal.
    3.8mm Swarovski flat back crystals
    E-6000 glue
    Silver chain
    Silver lobster clasp
    silver jump ring
    Round Nose, chain nose, nylon jaw pliers
    Wire cutters
    needle file
    a lid from a jar to shape the bracelets

      I love all your videos but no matter what I try to make it doesn't come out like yours or anyone's videos. I bought everything you need for making rings, earrings and necklaces. Nothing comes out right. Instead of me putting all my material away, and I bought stuff for everything to make these beautiful projects and nothing comes out right. Do you have any suggestions for my PROBLEMS. I love everything you make and they looks so easy but I can't get it. I spend so little much money on tools, wire and beads and you would not believe how many times I tried everything but nothing turned out. If you have any suggestions for me I would really appreciate your kindness. GOD BLESS you and your little ANGELS.

      @@lorrainebecchetti4865 Hi Lorraine, I don't mean to intrude on your comment. I have no doubt Helena has some great advice because she makes the prettiest little pieces of jewelry! You didn't say specifically what kind of problems you're having but I thought I'd share my experience from when I started making wire wrap jewelry 2 years ago. I watched MANY, MANY beginner videos for MONTHS before I bought supplies. It was so confusing to me figuring out what I needed to start because I knew NOTHING about making wire jewelry. Helena has beautiful tutorials I've enjoyed so much but I also learned so much (especially about forming/shaping wire) from Lan Anh Handmade channel. You really should check her out. I'll leave 5 good beginner tutorial links below or you can search for her channel and see more of her work. She has a good mix of beginner and advanced tutorials. She's a very good teacher. Her tutorials are really what gave me a good start. My stuff didn't look great to begin with either but if you have or get some 20 gauge dead soft copper wire to practice with and take your time shaping with your tools and/or fingers, I promise you'll get the hang of it. 🙂
      ⭐Tip... Always straighten your wire using a soft cloth before starting a project. It takes a minute to get used to manipulating and shaping the wire but you can use a random anything as a mandrel. I use ink pens to form earwires, bottle tops to shape rings, etc. The list is endless. ⭐Tip... When I first started, I had to train myself NOT to grip my wire so hard that it scratched and marred it into total ugliness. 😩 LOL! I bought the cheapest toolset (under $10 for 5 pliers +) and covered my pliers' jaws in "layers" of duct tape in lieu of paying a lot for nylon jaw pliers (it is sticky when you try to remove it though so I just keep reapplying because it works for me). This helped prevent scuffing the wire. Although I've added a few new tools (good flush cutters) since I started, those cheap pliers are still my main go-to pliers to this day and they serve me very well. Below are some of Lan Anh's beginner videos. Please check them out.
      ⭐Be patient, persistent, and take your time. Once you get a feel for manipulating the wire, you'll be able to do absolutely anything you set your mind to! 😀 Again, I didn't mean to overstep or intrude and so sorry my comment is very long. I just know how frustrating it can be when you're first learning. I thought I might be able to help out a fellow jewelry-making enthusiast. There's a lot of joy in it when it works out. Best wishes and good luck to ya! 🙂

      @Lorraine Becchetti Hi Lorraine, I'm so sorry to hear you have some troubles on this new jewellery making journey. I get your frustration, I'm sure you are trying your best and it must feel overwhelming if nothing works the way you expected. I absolutely still get these moments too. A lot of them actually. Whether I'm following a tutorial or if I'm just coming up with some new design and it doesn't match my expectation/vision. When I get these moments, I have to stop, put my tools down and get some rest, fresh air etc. then I go back to it and try again. and again. and if it still doesn't work and I just can't seem to get the hang of it at all, I move onto something else. Start with the easiest jewelry you could possibly make and move from there. practice. Perhaps try a slightly different wire? I have wires that are silver, gold and copper plated, all 20 gauge, all copper based, all from the same company and yet, they are each different. copper is very soft, silver medium and gold rather stiff. So that's to consider too. If you have any particular issue, then let me know, but honestly, keep trying and I promise, If you really want to get better, it will happen. Btw Tammygurl64 left you a really good reply, which is worth reading and I wish you the best 💖😘

    Absolutely gorgeous!❤ It's so dainty and pretty. I've gotta have some of those crystals in my life. 😊 I have a wood handle tool with a collet used for changing out cup burs (to de-bur wire) but I use the handle for holding multiple strands of wire while twisting. I mixed bright copper and silver twists and it looked great with a mix metal tree of life charm that I also made hanging from it but those crystals would've given it amazing sparkle! Thanks so much for another beautiful tutorial!! ❤ Have a blessed day! 🙂

      Hi Vanshika, pardon the intrusion but I just wanted to say that's a great idea! 👍 I made a twisted bracelet for my niece last Christmas using bright copper and silver and it turned out great. I did one twist with 18 or 20 ga silver wire similar to Helena's twist. I used 16 ga copper long enough to loop in half (copper loop becomes part of clasp) and have extra for clasp and then cut multiple strands of smaller gauge (24-26ga) copper and silver. I then looped them all around (and just beneath) the 16 ga wire loop and then twisted them all together evenly. I made a hook clasp from the excess end of the 16 ga wire and wrapped other excess wire around it to give a finished look. I then made a coin sized tree of life charm from silver and bright copper to hang freely on the bracelet. It turned out much better than I expected. I say you should go for it! 👍 Let your imagination be your guide! Do your multiple colors. I bet it'll be beautiful! ❤ Again, sorry if I intruded. I got excited when I saw you had a similar idea to mine. Great minds... right? Have a beautiful and blessed day! Cheers! 😊

    • @HelenaDaydreamer
      @HelenaDaydreamer  Před 4 lety +1

      I have never worked with real pearls, so can't say for sure. I'd think so. I used to have Hypo Cement glue in the past, which is good for gems, but thats more like superglue in my opinion. Or maybe use two part epoxy glue, that will hold your pearl like nothing else 😁 These are just my thoughts though, I'd definitely research it, you don't want to risk it and ruin the pearls 🌞

    • @HelenaDaydreamer
      @HelenaDaydreamer  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Priscilla, thanks for your comment, I'm sure you could use some sort of tool, some people use a drill to twist the wire (not sure if that would be the best idea in this case though). I'd say practice is the key here. That and also using the right wire. if the wire is too soft, too hard or simply too thick(gauge) it's difficult to work with. But you just gave me an idea for a video, perhaps I could explain how I do it. Take care 💖

      Possibly, or even a fabric shop, since they are for sewing on. I'd try online like Ebay.

    This is a beautiful design and great tutorial. However my OCD hates the fact that one of the twists is the opposite way round to all the others. Something to keep in mind! All the best. Hazel.
