We raised four boys and the amount of food they could eat was mind blowing at times! 😄
I think its the age they've hit that it all of a sudden feels so much more, being that they're all of a similar age the increase all at once is massive!

Having growing boys you will definitely start going through a lot more food. My sons are 22 and 15 and they eat a lot during those growing teen years. 😊😂

I love these videos as I always learn something. It is unbelievable the amount of food kids, especially boys can consume.
My son is 12, 5ft 7 and 9.8 stone. He is a powerhouse and 5inches taller than me.
He desperately needs open heart surgery to replace 2 severely leaking valves, but the hospital are using drugs to help his now damaged heart. They won't operate because of the massive growth spurt. They would be lucky to get 2 years out of the valves before he needs open heart surgery.
Point is I can't fill him. He eats more than his dad who is 5'8" and as much as my 5 '11" body building partner.
The bulk of my food bill is on food for Zachri, and like most men he is a grump when hungry. So I empathise fully with you. X
Argh, that's hard, waiting, but it makes sense, and I suppose leads to less chance of repeat surgery down the road!
The kids definitely eat large swathes of the food bought and I find myself spending hours in the kitchen just to keep them filled up lol!

Love the square jars! I’ve never seen those here in the US. I think it would make storing them in the pantry easier. And I love that you have those black lids. I have the ball rings and lids.
They're a really nice jar and they do stack really well in the pantry! small, but work well for things like this!

Happy birthday Nyssa! Spring rolls look so good. Made my own egg roll wrappers. Once. And only once. 🤪 Life is too short so store bought wrappers are the way to go. Balances out as most other food is homemade. Tandoori chicken thighs are marinading to be done on the BBQ for dinner.
hehe, yeah, I tried the whole painting on the pan thing and yeah... but I did see recently another method where you roll it out more like a dough and you stack and roll a pile of them, cook one off, peel it flip it and cook the next kinda thing, it looked much simpler! but we'll see if I get around to trying it or not lol.

Happy belated birthday Nyssa🎉. I thought of you the other day when I went to my local asian grocer to get my Mae Ploy curry pastes. They sell the 400g tubs of paste for around $5.50. Its more economical than the tins. They have the red, green, yellow, panang and masaman. I cant figure out how to add a photo but if you are interested, you could probably find it online 😃

Cabbage is one of those plants that if you do it right, are so easy to grow! I definitely need to do better this year lol.
We call that bubble and squeak in the Uk. Usually cooked the day after a roast dinner thst has had cabbage or Brussels sprouts in

You weren't kidding about cabbage prices. Mine are finally heading. I put strat ammonium nitrogen on just like I do for my onions they are heavy feeders. But the bugs from below and flying are the real challenge,netted better this year plus put slug control down to get slugs and rolly pollies.
We definitely needed to net ours earlier last year, the cabbage moths decimated them before they even got going! I am determined to do better this year (though of course, I say that each year lol)

Love the spring rolls, i have some packs of rice paper rolls to use up and wonder if they would work for the spring roll wrapper as the kids didn’t like the chewy texture.

I am going to get some pineapple when I do the shop! I have some on the shelf that I canned for pizza but its in smallish jars for pizza and I prob only have enough for pizzas until they come into season again lol, so I might grab a couple of tins to try, it definitely sounds like a winner! I did some plums and some apple pie filling ones the other night, the kids loved the plums!
Yes, rice paper rolls are interchangeable, and they crisp up quite well in the pan too! I find them a little fiddlier to roll though hehe :D

Happy birthday! I made spring rolls a week or so back as well. I used beef mince in mine. They were delicious! Served them with sweet chilli sauce. What sauce did you use? Daryl is getting very handy now! He has quite the flair for it!
I think you can use just about anything in them! I had the chicken mince from a while back that needed using so it seemed a good option, made them with pork a lot too, I think I tend to make sausage rolls with excess beef mince!
We used sweet chilli sauce that I made a few months back! :D was super yummy!

When we make okonomiyaki, we use cabbage and all the other stuff but if I'm looking to up the protein, I add canned tuna if I have it. Tastes great and we both like it.
A suggestion for your curry - there is a curry powder that I absolutely adore called Javan. I also use a curry paste when I make it but if it's lacking, a little (or a lot) of the Javan powder can make all the difference to me.
To the actual cabbage mix ? I’ll have to try that, we always have tuna avail!
@@OurSmallFootprintBonito flakes are a common topping so I figured, tuna is tuna. Just make sure to drain it really well and don't put too much, it can affect the flavor. But when my hubby was alive, he liked it and he'd been eating okonomiyaki his whole life. I just experimented and it worked.

If you go to Aldi's they have canned Peaches and Apples which are stacked with Apples U could make the syrip...
Plus they are very nice and tasty doesn't say for pies but U could use them for it only about $2 a can...I think...better than Coles or Woolies...🥳🥳🥳

Hehe, the quantities that they consume have really spiked lately, the amount I used to make and have leftovers no longer leaves me with leftovers, and its a bit sad heh.
