      Thank you so much Rhonda! It's been a lot of work getting it all up and running, but I've really enjoyed it... and it will be a lot easier next year. 😃

    Thankyou for sharing your garden with us…I enjoyed watching. I’m a beginner…but I’ve managed to grow tomatoes, strawberries, I have a cucumber plant with cucumbers. I have mint, and chillis. I also have some potatoes growing….😊

    Tilly we stomp our molehills back down where we can, we have found that if we do it a couple of times the mole moves deeper and doesn't make the hills.

      Oh really, well I'll be out there stomping on them tomorrow morning then! Thanks for the tip! 🤞😃

    The Garden is coming along very nicely, lots growing well. So sorry about the Moles. They're not supposed to like Marigolds, I guess that hasn't worked. Have you tried planting Garlic or Daffodils, they apparently don't like the roots on those.
    That is a Five star Bug Hotel you've made there Tilly, well done.
    I'm the same, we'll always have Lettuce. Lol.
    TFS Tilly, take care & keep really keep really busy everyone. ❤️🙂🐶

      Hi Maxi, 👋 I haven't tried garlic or daffs, but I am planning to plant some garlic later in the year, so hopefully that will help deter them! 😃
      I loved making that little hotel, I'll make some more just as soon as I get time! 😃❤️💕

      @@rootofavalon3841 Hi Tilly, Yes I've heard it can work, but I guess it depends how many Moles you have there really.
      I look forwards to seeing how many critters do stay in your Bug Hotel, so you can make more, & have a chain of Hotels. Lol. 🐝🐛🦋🐞👍

    Beautiful garden! I see you have a pinwheel in your raised bed garden. Is that to keep birds away? We use pinwheels to keep voles away, it seems to work. Right now, it's extremely hot and dry in North Carolina, but our garden is still producing tomatoes, basil, blueberries and peppers.

    • @rootofavalon3841
      @rootofavalon3841  Před rokem +1

      Thank you very much Nancy! Yes, the pinwheel is to keep the birds away, it works pretty well. It's good to know that you are still getting crops even with the extreme heat... food taste so much nicer when it's home grown! 😃

  • @hotchiwitchishumblehome

    Lovely tour Tilly, Thank you.
    Do you use any slug and snail control as nothing appears to be eaten? Unfortunately my Sunflowers have been decimated by snails this year. 🌻🐌🌻

    • @rootofavalon3841
      @rootofavalon3841  Před rokem +1

      Thank you very much! I haven't found anything that works particularly well for slugs and snails... I don't use slug pellets at all ... But we do have hedgehogs 🦔 in the garden.
      I did lose quite a few of my young sunflowers to them too, so I kept some in the conservatory until they were a bit bigger... the slugs still attacked them, but some of them survived because they were a bit bigger.

      Thank you so much Diana, we are both really enjoying the garden and it's lovely being able to eat some of what we grow. We are both really well thank you, we're still waiting for Neil to have a scan, and we've been chasing that up for over 6 months now, so fingers crossed we managed to get one booked in soon. God bless and lots of love to you xx

    Hi tilley how do u keep the grass down around the edges do u still mow it? I left a big enough gap around my beds to get the mower round but tbh its so much faffin im tempted to put plastic sheeting down and use bark or gravel in the walkways, what do u think? 😊

    • @rootofavalon3841
      @rootofavalon3841  Před rokem +1

      Oh it's a real pain Ingrid!! We did the same as you, left a big enough gap for the lawnmower and wheelbarrow, but getting the mower in and out of there doesn't work, so we cut it by hand with hedge shears. I have got my eye on some woodchip though and when I can afford it I'll buy loads of that... I haven't found anywhere that gives it away like a lot of other people have mentioned! I'll put thick cardboard down first, and then woodchip on top. 🤞🤔❤️
