  • HI Creative Fam for this weeks diy home decor project I made a chandelier sent to me from a subscriber here. This popular glam design is also on other websites like Wayfair. Disclaimer: This video is Sponsored by Skillshare. skl.sh/creativ... The first 500 people who sign up get a two month FREE Premium trail provided by Skillshare. Skillshare is an online learning platform with over 25,000 classes. If you have a skill or trade you've always wanted to learn this is where to go. They bring in the best teachers and mentors in different genres and share their knowledge. It's worth checking out and seeing if it's something for you. From photography to brush lettering it's all one place.
For this project I used 2 14 inch embroidering rings from Hobby Lobby
These were on sale 50% off - Regular price $5.99 each
They always offer a 40% coupon if you don’t catch the sale
I used 3ft wooden BBQ skewers for dowels from Dollar Tree (cut 10 inches)
With several dowels I already had from Walmart (also cut 10 inches)
You will need at least 8 screws (drill 4 of the dowels)
    Glue, Mod Podge, Silver Glitter
1- floral plant chain from Dollar Tree (used 3 clips from chain)
    Gems
    More about the gems
I love these! After a three month search and reading all the good and bad reviews I finally decided to try the best deal I could find on the internet. I bought 99 feet of beautiful acrylic chandelier gems. These are super clear, the shine, sparkle, light reflects thru them great, the jump rings are easy to work with. They have ZERO haze or fog to them. I’m so happy to give good feedback on these bc I was super concerned how they would look in person. They do have tini tiny surface scratches on SOME but you have to hold them right up to your face and be looking for them. They in no way hinder the appearance of the gems.
Here is a direct to the exact ones I purchased. You get 99ft for $27. If you’ve been looking for nice gems and a good price you won’t be disappointed.
    99ft Acrylic Gems amzn.to/2KBVtV9
If you’ve been looking for glass gems I bought 30ft three weeks ago and these are stunning. You know exactly what you’re getting when you buy glass unlike buying acrylic. Of course these shine more, there is a small difference in size but again you have gotta be looking for the difference. These are heavier, feel like high quality, overall I’m very happy with these too. I do have to admit for the money the acrylic gems are the better deal but if you want glass gems this is the best deal I know of. You get 30 ft for $22. They’re super clear and really sparkle effortlessly. I love holding these in my hands. They feel so nice.

I used a plug in socket adapter like I always do in my videos with an extension cord. You can check out my recent Dollar Tree DIY Lamp-shelf video if you would like to see the details in that video.
Here is one you can buy on Amazon for $3 amzn.to/2DPIklF

If you are new here thank you for watching my video. I hope you enjoyed this project and decide to join our Creative Fam. I was late getting this video out to you. Again my work schedule seems to be crazy lately and it’s been a challenge shuffling my job and channel. I’ll most likely make something simple for next week to get back on schedule and you know I’m game for any ideas feel free to send them to me. I love you guys and I hope you enjoy your week. I’ll see you soon of course. Take care and God Bless.

I've had a couple of comments about not showing how I did the light. I realize I should have. I've shown this in so many videos I kind of felt like you would be watching a re-run so I linked below a video sharing one I did 2 or 3 weeks ago on the lamp-shelf. If you're not familiar with the two different ways I do lighting here on my channel one way is using a plug in light socket adapter and that's what I did here too. You can FF this video to 8:25 and see it if you'd like czcams.com/video/sA5uotF4G7w/video.html
These cost $2 - $5 and you can find em at your local hardware store. You screw a light bulb in the socket and literally plug it in to an extension cord and wallah you have lighting you can use anywhere for under $5 and NO wiring. For this I used a zip tie and simply zip ties the cord to one of the dowels and that's all. If you wanna take a look at one on Amazon to see what they look like I'll share a link
    amzn.to/2DPIklF
The other way I do lights is with Christmas lights. (preferably white strand NOT green) That's one of my favorite way especially with chandeliers because it disperses the light everywhere. I currently am using a strand in another chandelier I made for my kitchen. I just don't have a strand with enough bulbs to really light this one because it's pretty big and with a ton of gems. (I tried)
You can FF this video to the 10 minute mark and see both options czcams.com/video/JCv94AJnnCc/video.html
One more thing ... I also found a light switch adapter I use. You can flip any power cord on and off with this switch. Your cord plugs right in and that keeps you from having to plug and unplug when you wanna turn your lights off and on. amzn.to/2LcyX5i

Hey momma Pam, I've had you on my mind so much lately. Have you noticed I started using the yellow glue gun you sent me a while back? Omg I love love love love love it!!!
I was always afraid of burning myself because it seemed to easily fall over. So I thought umm I could make a stand for it and I did. I'm so glad I did!! I've never had one this nice. This glue gun is tha bomb! I can't get over the difference when working with it. I'm so over the cheap ones. I don't ever have to worry about glue strings and bc the tip of the gun is so skinny I can reach in places all my other ones never could. I've even been asked about my glue gun in the comment section. I can't say enough how much I love it. My only regret is that I would've been using this entire time. I'm so clumsy I was scared I'd burn myself. Anyway I'm jumping up and down about it. I love you and I hope you're doing good. Thank you so so so much 💕💕💕💕💕

Hey sis, yay I was hoping by sharing these gems it'd inspire someone. I've had a lot of questions lately so I wanted to make something so I could share these. I read so many reviews on these kind of gems in the past 3 months. You're gonna get a laugh out of this. A lady gets on there ranting about how terrible these are. I'm taking notes from each sellers reviews and trying to find strictly clear ones. She said they're cheap plastic and not real crystals. She's mad and tells other people not to order them because they're not glass. I thought lady ... you're not gonna get a hundred feet of real crystal gems for $20 something dollars gees, read the description. LOL. Anyway, it was the pictures she posted with one star that really shows how clear these are so because of her negative review with pics I went with these and I just love em. Even compared to the glass ones I ordered you can't tell which strand is glass at first glance. I'm amazed how nice they are and amazed how some people order stuff online without reading what they're buying lol. I'll talk to you soon sis. I wanted to share that little story with you. I couldn't help but laugh. I'm so glad you enjoyed this Diy 💕

@@CreativeLivingLifestyles I'm glad you told us about the difference in the gems that you have purchased in the past. Now I know exactly which ones to buy and where to get them from. Plus, I always look at reviews before I order online. I am also a witness to seeing others pictures of what they bought and why they don't like the product and they say the dumbest things 🙄. Well you have never misled me. I really trust your judgment. Keep um coming girlfriend 💕👍😉

Hi Linnette, thank you ;) You're tha bomb too so glad you enjoyed this. I used a plug in socket adapter. You just plug it right into an extension cord and bam you have light anywhere you want it. They cost anywhere from $2 - $5 at any hardware store. If you haven't seen these before I have several videos showing this including one recent. I just dropped the bulb down in the center and zip tied the cord to one of the dowels. It so easy and cheap. You can fast forward this video to 8:25 unless you wanna see the project itself and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Sometimes I use Christmas lights in chandeliers but I didn't have enough to fully light this up.
Here's the video and if you have any questions at all let me know czcams.com/video/sA5uotF4G7/video.html

    What light did you use?

    • @CreativeLivingLifestyles

Hey Toni, I used a plug in light socket adapter witha 9 watt LED bulb. They cost a couple of bucks at anywhere hardware store. I plugged that into an extension cord. I have a pinned comment at the top with all the info and videos to reference to as well as info in the description box if you're not familiar with these items.

You should state how much you spend on the entire project !

    • @CreativeLivingLifestyles
      @CreativeLivingLifestyles  Před 5 lety

Sure, what I spent and what you can make this for is very diff.
      $6 embroidery rings + $27 on gems = $33
      Already had these ....
1 pk - 3ft skewers from DT cut to 10 inches to make 30 dowels.
      Dowels $1
      Extension cord $1
      socket adapter @ Lowes $2
      bulb ... $4
$33 + $8 = $41 so if you had to buy absolutely everything from scratch a fair budget would be $30 to $45. Of course the main cost is the gems. You could certainly purchase a lesser quantity and spend a lot less but these really are the best deal I could find.
You can get 16 ft for $8 or 65ft for $15. That's totally a personal preference but changes the cost drastically. This estimate is on the high side. Better to over estimate than under. You asked how much I spent personally. They only thing I purchased special just for this project was the embroidery rings. I ordered these gems before I planed this project just to have for diff diys so I'll reuse em. I wanted to share everything with all the expenses bc it wouldn't be right to say oh it only cost me $6 bc I already had most of the materials. A better way to give an estimate would be $15 plus whatever gems you wanna buy for this project. Btw I share info in the box below if you ever wonder what exactly I purchased on any of these projects. You already know usually I use most everything from DT but this was a lil diff. As always thanks for watching.

I assume you're asking the bulb with the gems? Yes of course it's safe, they're made to be used this way. Having said that I would never never use an incandescent light bulb near any diy project I made. Only LED bulbs. These are 9 watt LED bulbs, the same ones I used in the lamp-shelf from a couple of weeks ago. I've touched these bulbs with my bare hand to see if the often quoted claim that these are cool to the touch is true and it actually is. I could sense very little heat and this was after being on an hour.
