    For a non poseidon employee you have quite a good perspective. I have been researching gravel bikes for a year, this is a very useful video. None of the big manufacturer (trek, cannd, spec, giant) are going to help with an evaluation of competition that undercuts their prices. Your casual approach and realism are appreciated. If I buy either one, I will give you further response.

    Nice comparison. I think you could run 2x on the Redwood if you use the the right downtube spot for a shift cable instead of a dropper post.

    I ran tubeless on the stock rims as well with some 42mm pathfinder pros and been shredding the Santa Monica mountains with no issues so far.

    Thank you so much. I've been wondering your thoughts on the subject since Eric launched the redwood. I've been planning on financing a big boy bike (disc brakes) for a while and the X was top of the list. Shit, I still don't know hahaha.

    i've been looking for this comparison. Awesome that you have it.
    I really wanted the poseidon x more than the redwood, sadly they don't have one with XS size which kinda annoying.
    So i'd like to ask your experience on this. I know Poseidon X runs with a 700c x 40, while Redwood runs a 650bx2.3in tires.
    I want to know what if both bikes have the same 700cx40 setup.
    Can the poseidon redwood compete in speed on the road against the Poseidon X?
    Coz Redwood seems to be my only option at the moment for sizing concerns.

    Can’t decide which to get. New to cycling. Haven’t rode a bike since I was 17 years old and I’m 48. Probably mostly street riding, but would like to hit some trails. Like the look of the redwood, but may be too sluggish on the road. Also like the pass through axle, and the tubeless option. Maybe the redwood with a road tire 2nd set?

    • @oldtwinsna8347
      @oldtwinsna8347 Před 2 lety +1

      Sounds like you have an 80/20 thing going on with the road to trails. In that case, go with the X. The other way around, with the Redwood. The speed difference on the roads will matter a lot and the lighter weight of the X will help a lot with the constant acceleration cycles on the streets making it more suitable. Redwood's extra heft and beefy tires are a necessity for rougher trails that become a liability on the road.

    • @LockedinCycling

      It be like improve its rollling resistance like any other gravel bike with slicks, I would recommend going with large volume so you don’t drop the bb to much so , 700 by 40c or 650 with some 2.0 or 2.2 slicks

    Hi there. I need a bike but i do not know what type should it be. I sold my Trek 3900. It was a mountain bike. Then gravel bikes had my attention but those are prety expensive. What should i buy for all year round commuting ? It should be suitable for rear rack and mud guards. Can you give me a brand and model? Max 1000$ topstone 4 vs poseidon x

    Whether you have thru-axle or QR, neither is the actual axle. They provide clamping force on the dropouts, and that's all. The actual axle is in the wheel hub. Road racers and MTBers used QR for decades without issue, and they're still perfectly fine.
