Have to chime in with the other commenters this was a really great walk through showing us without plug ins or footage or templates how versatile these effects are! Best glitch tutorial I've seen yet :) Really like how you used expressions here instead of using a displacement map, makes it that much more versatile. Gonna try simulate a VHS look with this, thanks again for the great tutorial!

THANK YOU! Finally i found a decent tutorial about the glitch effect.
This is way better than just putting a footage in because you can modify your glitch as you want.
p.s. wouldn't directional blur also be nice ?

Hi I'm new to After Efects, if i wanted to layer this text over some moving drone footage, and add a motion tracker so the text was to get bigger as the camera moves towards it, would i have to export what i have done to get the glitch effect and add it into a separate composition with the drone footage or could i edit all of my footage in the same composition? I have a feeling the glitch effect would mess up the motion tracker?
How can I make it so that instade of "wiggle" the text move in a perpendicular way? Something like the Polyphonic intro.

You need to right click where it's written mode, parent or layer name, then go to columns (I think it's that for you, cause I'm french) and click on mode.
I'm still new to ae and he said to objective click the stopwatch but never said how, I'm not sure how to do that and Google isn't helping, can I get a bit of help with that???
He said "Option Click" meaning, If on mac: hold Option and click on the stopwatch. If on windows, hold Alt and click on the Stopwatch.
