PlayStation’s Access Controller Has Its Faults, But It’s A Start

- We were joined by accessibility journalist Grant Stoner, who reviewed Sony’s PlayStation Access adaptive controller for IGN. While the controller is a major improvement over what was previously available (nothing) and it’s allowed Grant to get lost in some awesome PS5 games like Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok, it has some questionable design choices that Grant points out. We also discuss some of the games that made major pushes for accessibility in 2023, and why “unnecessary” remakes of more recent games are often huge wins for players with disabilities thanks to added features that a lot of folks might not even notice.
My 45 yr old mother who’s biggest difficulty when playing games is having a continuous clasp on the controller handles and having to hold it up for so long, got it for herself and its working pretty well, definitely better than the dualsense for her, but its definitely not perfect and one of the most baffling emissions in my eyes is a lack of secondary joystick for the camera.
Love this! ❤ glad to see more people get to play games and enjoy all these other awesome worlds we get to explore and don’t even realize how much we take it for granted.
