I had pain in my chest since I was little ! In school I couldn’t do gym cause exercise & excitement would cause my sinus tachycardia. At that time no one knew what was going on, I just couldn’t do gym ! So from when I was lil to present, I’ve had a really high heart rate . Since now I have work related RSD : PAIN, the pain cause my Sinus Tachycardia to sky-rocket ! The highest it’s been so far is 230 per minute ! They gave me meds under the tongue which didn’t work ! Ended up in the ER 2ce cause of it ! They still don’t know why ! I told them to take care if my pain, my heart rate & blood pressure will go down ! They gave me a IV with Fetynal & it came down like I said ! So mine goes up by pain, excitement, my asthma & exercise ! So now I’m on Cardem La to keep my Sinus Tachycardia in check ! Even with this med, my heart rate still hasn’t come all the way down to being normal ! Times I have trouble sleeping cause the heart beat us soo hard it feels like it’s gonna jump right outta me chest !

I know this is a pretty old post, but what about Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia and Autonomic Dysfunction? Took 7 years to get an accurate diagnosis because they kept pointing to anxiety. More need to be made aware of this because it is treated differently from anxiety and often nothing is picked up on routine testing.

I was on ivabradine and it helped for a while, but then started causing bradycardia regardless of lowering the dose. So now I’m back to square one. Just started mestinon after hearing others with hyperadrenergic POTS feeling benefit. Dr Gupta on the York Cardiology channel has a great video on Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia and another on mestinon.

@Kyle Clark I don’t monitor anymore unless I’m exercising as it doesn’t do me any good. My BP is more of an issue and according to my cardiologist, my heart seems to be just fine. I basically try to listen to my body and not let it freak me out. My resting ranges from 90-110... there are times I’ll feel it fluttering and when I measure it can be over 120 (lying down). I get winded easily, otherwise I’m quite used to it. I am hoping to be one that mestinon works for. Do you have a diagnosis? Specialist you’re working with?

@Kyle Clark well I wouldn’t say you “just” have anxiety. I have anxiety too, but we found it is caused by autonomic dysfunction. I was told for 7 years it was just anxiety until I finally found a specialist that knew how to test me for autonomic dysfunction. I sort of wish it was your run of the mill generalized anxiety as it would be more likely to respond to antidepressants. No matter the cause, anxiety can be debilitating. My best advise is to try everything you can, one by one, until you find what works for you. I have modified my diet, practice yoga and meditation, exercise, tried acupuncture, etc. and have tried so many meds. Wishing you all the best! 🙏🏼

Usually it's an autoimmune issue paired with some sort of severe stress that causes physical damage to your nervous system. I have this too. Took care of the autoimmunity part and I got my life back. Hormonal issues (there is a correlation w/ carbs metabolism and symptoms) and "silent" GI issues can also contribute. Sometimes it's also a result of a CSF leak or some problem with the spine.
