I will be showing you how to build an advance DIY Aquarium overflow just by using PVC pipes.
This is an alternative method if you are not able to drill any holes in your main tank due to various reason and still want to have a filtration system using a sump tank.
Remember to glue your PVC pipes once the fitting and size is confirmed and give it a good coat of paint of your own liking to make it look like a professionally build overflow!

Awesome idea! Simple design but effective. I just wanted to ask if I can attach a surface skimmer into this system?
It should be possible, however I haven't try it yet..maybe in my next video i will test this out.
Just need to make sure air dont get sucked in and break the siphon.
Just a clarification needed. Do I need to suck out the air using a syringe for the first time like in the primer video?
If you were to make both sides front and back the same way as you had built the first chamber over flow it'll look even better. Even tho the other way with the tubes side by side is simpler. It'll Make it look even more streamline... also it'll show where the water line levels out to

I've done exactly as the second design. Once the siphon breaks and water level attains the level and stops, it couldn't able restart it's own in case of power failures. Can you able to help me?

Hi sir, Thanks for the DIY overflow. I did the same for my aquarium. Though the air tube is taking lot of air and it is making lot of noise when air is getting sucked. What might be the reason.
Means ur pump is having slower rate. U need to slow down ur overflow flow rate. When this overflow is functioning properly, it is quiet as a mouse!

I have done it. it works fine in the first run, now i've to glue everything together. But i noticed something. The air tube, it's not sucking water in , there's still air in it. Then siphon works just fine and restarts automatically. My air tube level is just as you said, just above the water level. Is it a problem. If so please Help.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial. I've a doubt, what should the level of the air tube that goes to the water? It should be always inside the water, right? Like when the power goes and siphone stops at a level and when it happens the air tube should be immersed in water?

the air tube is used to break the siphon. its to allow air to go inside the overflow thus breaking the siphon.
the air tube has to be slightly higher at the position where you want ur water to stop. this is where the inner tube position is inside the overflow.

If done right, you only need to prime it once

I want to build simplied version. How do you set the water height? With air tube position or the overflow position?
Overflow position. The air tube position is to break the siphon oven. The height where the water will stop depends on the overflow.
@@TheStreamAffair so the airtube needs to be same position as overflow or higher? If air tube is lower than overflow then it will continue to siphon past overflow position?
Yes, your understanding is correct. So the siphon have to be either slightly higher or at the same level where the water will stop based on the position of the inner pipe in the overfloe chamber

Boleh gabung, tapi setup kena betul, klu tak gelembung udara boleh akibatkan overflow berhenti berfungsi

9000L/H ??!! Berapa besar tank kamu? Saya tak pasti mungkin kena cuba dengan saiz 32mm / 40mm ke atas kot.

pipa pakai 20mm sebab tak cukup ruang untuk 25 mm pipa masuk kedalam pipa 32mm. kalau kamu tengok balik video saya, saya ada pakai satu socket connector saiz 20mm.
ukuran pipa yang saya pakai mempunyai diameter yang sama..dimana bila saya cakap saiz 25mm, ukuran diameter dia betul2 saiz 25mm.
Dear Sir, i try your method using 2 hoses inside for the siphon. However, the siphon stopped after operate a week or so. I am not sure what happen.

What is the size of yhe pipes ? How do you make inlet ? Whst happened if electricity failed or return pump stopped ?
This are 25mm exact size pipes. The transparent pipe is 50mm.
Which inlet?
When power stops, the water will stop until the determine height.

Tat is a 32 to 25 reducer pipe and a cover with vents which can be bought.

The only disadvantage I can see is that you can't clean it as everything is glued together. Hope there are parts where the assembly can be disassembled.

Untuk tank 4 feet, sesuai tak guna overflow ni ?
Boleh je..yg penting kena tengok pump yg digunakan. Flow rate pump kena rendah daripada overflow. Klu flowrate tinggi (lebih daripada 4000, mungkin kena up kan size pvc pipe. Saiz lagi besar, flowrate lagi tinggi

friend if the reducer is from 50mm to 25mm, you can't put 20mm tube into the 25mm reducer
If you look at my video again, my 20mm pipe is connected to a half-cut 20mm straight connector. The outer diameter of the 20mm straight connector is smaller than 25mm so you will need to use epoxy glue/hot clue to make it leak proof. Hope this piece of information is useful for you.
And note that the piping that I used are having the exact size, when i say the pipe is a 20mm pipe, the outer diameter of the pipe is exactly 20mm when measure with a caliper.
