    What about a book club happy hour? Announce a book recommendation that you think would be a good community read, and then after a month you do a happy hour where you discuss the book. I think that would be fun!

    You are a beautiful light Scarlet, thank you. YES! Autumn hands down is my fave time of year. This year I'll be making pine cone wreaths with the pine cones I'm collecting. I get several every day as I walk my dogs. I have a lot of acorns too. I would like to try to eat MORE seasonal food, this was a great obvious reminder. I know this but not the best at doing it.

    There is not a season that resonates more with me then autumn. My soul comes alive. I live in st. Augustine, so as you know it's hard in the deep south to conjure those feelings when it's still hot as hell. But I turn the air lower, bring out all the leaf garlands drape and scatter leaves across hutch and mantel. I cook pumpkin foods and celebrate the harvest moon with homemade apple dumplings with my coven.

    • @ScarletRavenswood
      @ScarletRavenswood  Před 3 lety

      Totally agree! Even though I'm now in the South and it's a bit warmer I still absolutely love this season. :)

    I grew up on a working organic farm that's almost totally self sufficient it's powered by a high tech wind turbine and solar panels we have a greenhouse that not only produces fruits vegetables & herbs year round but we also raise fish in the back room of the greenhouse we have free range chickens brown blue & white eggs we also raise and butched fryer chickens every year so I really work hard this time a year harvesting & processing for myself and my family I stock my Apothecary for us and my business I make all natural personal care products from plants herbs & flowers I harvest & process myself. I am really excited this year cuz it's my first Mabon with my young coven I started in December last year. We are celebrating by honoring Cerridwen & Ceren and making foods from the harvest I'm making rosemary bread & beef barley soup. Other members are bringing salads and apple desserts. We don't drink 3 of us are recovering addicts some are brand new to the craft our crone is 77 and went to Pagan rituals back in the 70's! Then we have some that just began their path others like me who've been raised in the nature based religions I just always worked alone but our coven might be young but we are strong! Blessed Mabon!

    I'm a Khemetic pagan and in our home we associate Osiris with not just the underworld but with the harvest and growing crops and grain as he was a god of vegetation before Set dismembered him. But we also venerate our ancestors so we spend special time with our ancestor shrine and giving offerings and generally just spending time with our ancestors but also the Crone and grandmothers. :)

    It is still 90 degrees here, but I want it to be autumn so bad. I love getting gourds and pumpkins and decorative corn and just absolutely covering my altar. Then when the weather turns cold after Samhain, I cut the gourds and pumpkins into big pieces and carry them out to a wood/meadow area near where I live and put it out as an offering to the nature spirits of my place and to give the critters who are facing a hard few months of winter. I hang the corn up in my trees for the squirrels.

My husband and I planted only tomatoes in our garden this year and we have just picked the last of our harvest and made over 20 quarts of salsa for the winter! growing your own food and then preserving the fruits is the most magical experience! So grateful to be blessed with food that our love has grown.

    I just want to say thank you for your great videos. I'm slowly catching up on them all. I love your channel, you're very knowledgeable and down to earth. When listening to you, I feel we're on the same page. I also love autumn season and was born at the beginning of October. I have only recently started looking up you tube channels about witchcraft and paganism in order to expand my knowledge but I have always lived my life in a 'witchy way' I just never labelled myself and remained in the broom closet.
    Being fascinated with ancient cultures I also had an ancestral DNA done discovering that 80% of my DNA originates from the pannonian plane, and the rest is split between today's Western Russia, Scandinavia and Germany. Apart from ancient Egypt I'm therefore interested in Celtic, Slavic and Norse paganism. I still haven't chosen one. What are you thoughts on DNA ancestry and have you had one done yourself?

    At 21:40ish you mentioned sage. I would like to get on my soap box and say any sage that is mentioned in old European spells is NOT referring to the endangered variety of white sage that is sacred to an entirely different tradition. There are European varieties that grow much better in the northern states. Grow them in your gardens and use them. The European varieties have just as much magic as the rare endangered white sage and they are probably what your spells are referring to. (Just because your spices are culinary doesn’t mean they aren’t magic)

    • @gnostic268
      @gnostic268 Před 3 lety +1

      I changed my username because I also get fed up with this subject. There are so many positive things people could be doing but the gatekeeping over sage is pointless imo. I'm Native (Lakota) and I don't know how this got started but sage is used everywhere and is very minor as far as ceremonial use. Cedar is also used just as much because cedar trees are indigenous to most parts of the Midwest and volunteer trees are everywhere in Oklahoma. Sagebrush grows along the road in South Dakota where I'm from. The endangered white sage is actually my least favorite but to each their own 🍃

      @@gnostic268 I’m glad you commented that. I’ve been thinking about my beliefs and people gate keeping plants never made sense to me. Burning all different sages helps me and is a strong part of my religious practices, I wouldn’t change it just for someone saying “you don’t have the right ancestors to practice that”. In a way, those people are pushing their beliefs on others. I believe in reincarnation so division by skin and heritage has always confused me. Stay true to your own beliefs!
