- Today we will be reviewing Enlisted. Enlisted is a free squad-based multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed by Darkflow Software and published by Gaijin Entertainment. The game is set during World War II and revolves around major battles fought across all fronts of the war.

Some feedback to the review: something about this review just feels odd. You keep praising all the features of enlisted like squad customisation but the footage is just the starter squads from normandy allies. But the most surprising thing is that the progression grind isnt mentioned. I know that grind can be subjective but not mentioning it at all is wierd for a "honest review". Same goes for the multiple othere theaters of war you can play outside of normandy. I know that the UI to change the campain is easy miss but if someone wants to create an entire review about a game and edits in trailer footage depicting the battle for moscow it just blows my mind someone could miss that in a review. This might sound very harsh but mistakes like this shouldnt happen or the viewers will be missinfromed about the game. So please reconsider if this review is up to your personal standard or not and if the game reviewed deserves more time testing before judging the game to ensure such mistakes dont happen.

I'm sure as a new player getting into the game the creator hasn't quite gotten to that grind wall. The early levels 1-10 usually breeze by before a slow down happens in campaign progression which is why it's always good to bounce around and have fun with other campaigns too so it doesn't feel quite as bad. But certainly as I mentioned in my comment with the updates due to come in Q2 of this year we'll be seeing a whole new progression and unlocks system aimed to let people pick and choose what they'd like rather than having to get 10 throwaway squads between meaningful unlocks that suit an individuals liking.
@@IWant2Perish started playing a couple weeks ago, started stalingrad campaign and then normandy, never made it past level 6 in either even though a play a few games a day, makes you feel a little locked into one campaign otherwise youre constantly at a deficit in weaponry and equipment not to even mention that more experienced players will know the choke points and lines of sight better... great game, i would have paid for it 100% would of actually rathered a paid game that didnt have any pay to play aspects as i refuse to dump money into a pay to level or pay to win game

you know the way it used to be pay once in a store and then play the game as long as you wished without further purchases

Been playing it lately and it has a lot of potential
Been playing the game for years at this point since the game only had two campaigns but you probably should've saved your review for when they release the big updates this year introducing entirely new matchmaking and a complete overhaul of the grindy progression system for a branching path system to choose what you want to use so you don't have countless level one squads that you aren't interested in upgrading.
The game is wonderful and trust me for the most part aside from the basement dwelling sweatlords the community is quite nice and easy to get along with even with folks that aren't native English speakers. Getting a decent team together is rough but when you get it and everyone works together it's a dream, of course as well much like tons of other games it only gets better with friends. I can't really stress how fun it is to cooperate and work with friends over discord to set up defensive points and pushes with your infantry as well as tanks and planes, every role feels like you're contributing to the goal of winning. Even if you just sit back and set up defenses on point and rallies for your squads to spawn in at you're helping out in the long run.
I'd say all and all I definitely agree 7 is a respectable score for the game and hope more people get into it and enjoy it, it's probably one of my all time favorite multiplayer shooters that strikes a fantastic balance of realism and arcade that you can just pick up and play with minimal learning curve unless you're trying to learn how to accurately do bombing runs but it all comes with time.
P.S. sorry for writing so much, good video. And hope to see anyone reading out on the battlefield.

@@VirtuousGameReviews Well man if you ever need some pointers or just want another person to get you well into the game I'm open to doing so. Broadening the community of Enlisted is always good, and if I can prevent newcomers from leaving due to the current matchmaking often putting newcomers against vets with top tier weaponry I'm always happy to do so.

I just want more fast paced modes or the ability to select the maps, boots on ground combat is preferred but then that wipes out the max levels that just wanna camp with the tank
This game has planes!
Honestly gaijin will save itself so much pain if they have a free to play campaign until say level 6 then offer packs like Arma. I’m fine with that model it doesn’t feel as scummy when you buy it and still have to grind to unlock to use certain equipment
player common sense 2/10
only 2-3 players actually play the objective, build rallies and don't sit in a plane or snipe all the time. Which makes it very annoying to play alone, that's why I mostly play with friends. Unlike Hell Let Loose where vc is always used in Enlisted it's there but no one uses it, which makes coordinating impossible. When I do play alone I will almost never use vehicles, cause the second I jump into a tank the control point gets taken immediately when I'm defending or when I'm attacking and switch back to infantry we take the point quickly asking myself what the hell my teammates were doing in the first place.
Are most matches filled with bots or does 70% of the playerbase just have no idea how to actually play the game?
I have noticed this, it does feel like a 50/50 split with randoms alot of the time they just sit in spawn 😀
Went from squad to try Hell let loose cause I like WW2. Played 60-70 hours tons of servers. Found the player base was just incompetent. Every match either a blowout or a grind as the entire team pushes the same machine gun position and dies.
Enlisted is more arcadey, but players play obj more because the maps are so tight with playable areas. Much more fun. Hell let loose desperately needs a ticket system
yeah ive yet to hear a single person, im not even sure i have voice chat enabled or what as i havent heard a static mic or anything
well i wouldnt say people dont play objective it is very evident that theres almost always one side crushing the other, sometimes it seems impossible to make any progression towards a win, and other times it seems you could go afk and your team would still get a blow out victory in 3 minutes theres rarely an inbetween or a very tight battle where what you do really shifts the battle
maybe a system like battlefield had could work where the large team is broken down into smaller squads of about 4 playeers and its easier to communicate with those players and relay enemies or objectives
Needs some fratures but it's a good game, i like the immersion approach
Idk man, the game can definitely be quite fun but the more and more I play it the more and more it feels like a budget version of Battlefield 5 and Hell Let Loose.

You have reviewed one of the games I've put a lot of time into, so in consequence, you shall receive my commentary on your review! Please forgive my lack of brevity.
First, you have a good voice for this - well-enunciated and easy to listen to. I think you need to speed up your lines a bit to tighten the video, nothing crazy just a bit faster. This will come with practice, honestly, you're doing better than I could just right now. Well done! I'd turn the background music down just a hair, it got repetitive and annoying after almost 9 minutes.
I like that you have a specific format for rating a video game, it gives structure and allows for comparison to other game reviews. You'll want to have this format really dialed in so that these earlier reviews will stand up to being compared to later reviews. I'd doubled check this rating format to other game genres (if you plan to play other genres), and make sure it holds up. I'd also consider adding a more nebulous category that you can use to prop up the score a little. For example, if a game scores low on one of the categories, but it just has a REALLY cool feature/concept that you feel makes up for that, that could be used to up the average score. A "coolness factor" or some other such nebulous name. Just a suggestion, it might dilute things too much, or even hurt other ratings if the game is a little generic but solid.
My next suggestion would be to hop onto some of those discord channels for a game, and talk to some of the veterans of the game. As seen in some of the other comments, you didn't get a real sense of the COMPLETE grind this game is. In terms of pay to win, it's very fair. You get things for free by playing, and a veteran player has moderately better guns than a newbie, because they have "earned" them by playing more. Except that by buying the Premium pass, you earn double EXP, which means you level much faster than a free to play player. Frankly, even with double experience some of the campaigns are rather slow to level. I'd double the exp of the FTP, and make the Premium pass buyer 3x. But as is also said by other comments, they are completely redoing the leveling and campaigns this year, so hopefully this is addressed.
Which brings me to my next point, the Developers, I feel, are VERY responsive to player input. We feel it takes them a long time to get to it, but they eventually address things like this. One of their newer campaigns, Stalingrad, players level significantly faster than before, and paid players frankly level almost too fast (I was getting 2 levels a game in the early levels, and even after it was pretty darn fast). But they listened, and they tried new things. Their solution didn't nail it, nor did it fix the old campaigns, but they got information to hopefully fix the old campaigns with their next big update. You'd have gotten that information, as well as the grind, from the veteran players on Discord I expect. I only play with friends I have in real life, but I expect any of the veteran players could have told you as much.
The game does have text and voice chat. The voice chat is over the "radio", so your team AND the enemy team who are NEAR you can hear it. Which is clever. Many players don't know about it, and don't use it, and the players that do know, often don't use it so they don't alert nearby enemies. It's a cool concept but unfortunately yes, few people use it. Also keep in mind that there are a lot of internationals playing, and their English isn't always the strongest.
Overall, I appreciate how the vehicles are good, but don't absolutely dominate the battlefield. Bombers TOTALLY dominated for a long time, and were very unfun to play against, but they adjusted the bombing patterns, spread, etc due to player feedback. Shrapnel isn't evenly distributed, it explodes, makes a crater, and shoots shrapnel from there, so if you have enough distance from the bomb, and lay down, especially in a dip in the ground or a crater, you'll live now. Took longer to fix than I would have liked, but they did fix it. Believe it or not but the graphics improved significantly. One thing they haven't fixed is the tank's anti-infantry shells DO feel very underpowered, and often get the "soft ground" treatment, where the shell doesn't spray nearly as much shrapnel as you'd hope. It changes based on what you shoot, a brick wall will produce a lot more shrapnel than the ground will. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of materials and things you shoot that give off very little shrapnel, and many infantry who were within 3-6 feet of a shell will live through a blast.
Another category you might consider is game balance. Overall, the game is very balanced I feel. Almost all the classes are very viable. Most of the guns are viable. Few guns are significantly stronger than the "newbie" guns. It feels very balanced. The only class that isn't SUPER viable is the Fighter Plane. If there aren't enemy planes to shoot, there's not a lot to do. Strafing infantry doesn't really produce a lot of results.
For your end verdict, I'd like a recap of all the ratings on the screen, just to see them all in one place.

I LOVE the idea of a "Wildcard" category during the reviews and also a final summary displaying all of the scores at the end as a recap! Interesting thought on the discussions with veteran players this could be a massive help. As we are planning to review a wider variety of genres I think the Game Balance category could go into the "Wildcard" category as it might not necessarily suit all genres of games. question about ransomware and enlisted?
I got ransomware on my old pc during last year and was during a gameplay of enlisted(havent played it since n cant think of anywhere else i got it either?)
So could it be possible it could be during gameplay?
I havent got it after since that time(dont have the guts to try out again+All my steam n epic accaounts was also hacked at the same time so i hade alot of stuff to get it working again,not about to pay 10000usd(was a little less if i dont remember wrong,but more then my pc was worth at the time)
So is it just bad luck or could it be due to i played this game?` (i dont know much about this things,but havent played n havent had problems after i stoped playing enlisted)

most players don't play lone fighters mode, the Squad system is kind of the whole point.
a lot of people play custom lone fighters, still gives you xp so yea. not sure if thats still the case, but i would wager yes
Tried the game, and while I liked it, still too grindy (common for Gaijin) and I'm fighting tanks whilst having practically nothing to combat them. Once again, tanks ruin a good shooter. Rare a game makes using iron sight bolt actions feel good and engaging, so that was a nice surprise.
PvP game without humans: 7/10.
Better than most titles, especially as a free game. There is a grind but its from Gaijin so if you know you know lol.
Gameplay is great, gunplay could be better, unmatched vehicle damage models, engineer class enough said. Historical maps. I only wished people use comms more.

It's pay to have a good time. I just started today, played a few matches and whilst near the top of my team, it's just so badly balanced. I'm being matchmade with people with gear and tanks so much better than what I have access to, it's just unfun. I'm messing people up with my k98k, but I'm given practically nothing to deal with armor. I'll probably just uninstall it. I liked almost everything else about the game though.
For me this game isn't all that bad, but the gunplay feel . . . off, idk how else to put it. The sound quality of the guns themselves feel very disappointing, the recoil feels milliseconds delayed, and whenever you're walking while aiming the reticle or iron sight doesn't move but everything else does, which I find really odd. Also you're character feels incredibly slow, which I understand is realistic, but too slow to the point where the bad sprinting animations really get annoying. Also the voice acting is often terrible, and the game doesn't feel all that horrific. But I actually don't have big issue with the progression. I just wish they would add more character customization, like with the uniforms and everything. I also wish the weapons sounds were more distinct (several guns use the same sounds) and that they had more of an impact. I also feel like the bots are a bit inconsistent, in the terms that they either have excellent aim or terrible aim, and if you shoot at one of them all the nearby ones IMMEDIATELY lock onto you.
But all of these issues don't take that much away from the game, as it still looks stunning, the maps are amazing, and all of these problems can easily be worked on, considering the game is still in Alpha stage.
It feels like playing a single player game, am I missing something?
Kinda weird how you are reviewing the game when you have very little squads and hours into the game. Cant really say you have the full experience of the game with just one campaign up to level 5.....

Tfw you're stuck with bolt action rifles for the majority of your grind
you get semi autos at like level 8 so not really.
unless youre playing tunisia or... moscow? wait no moscow has semis pretty early on. ok so unless youre playing tunisia which is a long range campaign more suited to bolt actions, you get semi autos earlier
ok just stay with me here, there are around 37 levels per campaign, semi autos are ~ level 8. the xp scales from 500 xp on the first level to around 180k on the 21st and then it stagnates

The premium is absolutly Dogwater doesn't compensate enough for how grindy the game becomes.

I am not sure how to feel about this review... The title says "Honest review" but to be completely honest it seems overly positive. The review says that the game has no in-game text/voice chats - 7/10. If you ask me it should be 0/10 as stated it in the review it does not have any kind of text/voice chat. Maybe give it 1 point because of discord servers.

The game has in game team chat via voice and text to communicate with your team. The only issue is that fuckin no one uses it but trust me it's there enter key for text, and F2 for voice chat.
Oh brill! So then it really then means the community is still lacking, its a shame no one uses it because battles would be soo much better, especially when you're in a plane! Players never seem to ping tanks! 😒

Game is terrible. Anyone praising this is either paid for or has bad taste in shooters. Go play COD world at war, one of the greatest WW2 games. Or try battlefield bad company 2. This game has bugs, the teams dont work together at all, the weapons are super weak along with the explosives. And the graphics are okay but when your functionality is terrible do you really care? Then i saw gajin made this and understood why DLC was so over priced. A squad for $60?! These devs have lost their minds, even triple A games dont sell content ingame for a full games price. Then some one said this games a beta? For 2 years with purchasable content? Yeah right, i have a bridge to sell you too. 😭😭

Enjoyed it for a while until i learned that its basically pay to win, such a shame!
