    I've been making crochet soft toys for quite a few years, this week I decided to try granny squares for the first time and also watched a crochet video for the first time rather than just following a pattern. This is the 4th design I have tried. I'm so happy with it, and will make more. I used a light blue for round 3, and navy for round 4.

      @natopal0819 Před 3 lety +2

      omg i actually did it but with an other yarn size and just one colour!! i wish i could post a picture, it looks really nice.. so what i did was:
      the yellow part and the petals just like she did (with a 4 mm hook and yarn also for a 4-5 mm hook). then with the new yarn (7mm hook and yarn for this hook size): chain 3, make 1 double crochet into the same stitch, chain 1, then 2 double crochet into the same stitch (the corner is "2" double crochets, chain 1, 2 double crochets). then 2 half double crochets in the next stitch and 2 half double crochets in the next stich. then the corner and so on.. both granny squares are the exact same size, but mine is totally compact and you can't see through it. BUT you just have one colour around the flower.. i actually love it and it's perfect for the piece i was talking about! i hope this helps
      (also i have no clue how to write this in the correct crochet language "dc", etc. sorryy)

      I made my first ever scarf in December and I have been scarf crazy ever since lol. I understand on the tightness. Depending on what my grandmother was making she also crocheted tighter. I usually use a H8/5mm but on this African flower square I'm working on the 1st one I used using my H8 but it was all curled up so I made a new one in a J10/5.75mm. The pattern is mostly all single crochet and i get pretty tight on those little guys lol.

    Thanks so much for this! I'm stuck at the point where you do the turquoise background. Maybe it's a difference in yarn thickness or something but when I'm doing my 3xdoubles and a chain I feel like my background doesn't look as solid as yours. There's a large hole over the top of the petal (below the chain) and the area in between the petal isn't snuggly filled like yours is. Hmm! Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

    I hope you can answer this. After years of using my metal crochet hook, all of a sudden my fingers get dirty while using it and in turn my yarn gets dirty - and I mean black. Why is this happening? My hands are cleaner than they've ever been after almost 2 years of covid and I've never had this problem before. My crochet hook doesn't look dirty either, so I can't figure out where it's coming from. I end up washing the hook, and my hands, with tons of soap and try again, and eventually after a couple of days, it happens again. Can you help??? Thank you!!
