I make all my crafts for personal use and for fun, I do not sell my air dry clay projects. Thank you to DAS for acknowledging my air dry clay videos and providing some materials to support the making of this video, most of my previous clay videos have been using DAS as this is my preference and not been sponsored, DAS is also sold in many countries so it is a good one for me to recommend.
Thank you for watching,
Sarah - Red Rocking Bird

You make art look effortless, despite all the steps it takes to make these pieces. I really appreciated the structure building demo, and hope to apply your teaching to my own project soon. Thanks again, Sarah. Your videos inspire and educate. Keep up the great work!

Blessings. 🤗🌷
Thank you, so lovely of you to say, that makes me happy, carry on enjoying 😊 Sarah
Love your armature style. Faster and less messy than newspaper strips and glue, though that can be fun in small doses. 😀 Thanks for sharing how to easily repair cracks.
Yes that bits quick isn’t it, I live these pieces 😊❤️ thank you
You are so talented! Thank you for this inspiring video, Sarah. I love that you use wood blocks as stands.
So kind thank you, lovely to hear you like them ❤

Thank you Ellen, yes give it a go and enjoy, happy crafting 😊
Hi Sarah! Always fun to see you using air dry clay! If you are interested, there's a really great book by Hildegard Gunzel called, "Creating Original Porcelain Dolls: Modeling, Molding and Painting" that contains great tips about sculpting faces. You might enjoy this book if you can find it. It was published in 1990. Thanks for your post ! ❤
Hi, oh great thank you, I’ll see what I can find ❤️
I absolutely love this!❤ The sculptures you’ve made are just beautiful!
I’m new to air dry clay. Thank you inspiring me to do more than just putting the clay into molds🙏🏻❤️
Definitely so much more to clay than moulds, enjoy your creative time, thank you 😊
Wow, this is an excellent tutorial! I had no idea you could do this with air dry clay-and that it’s not that difficult (or, at least, YOU make it look easy). I am indeed inspired, and I happen to have a small stash of unopened air dry clay that I will soon start using, thanks to you!❤
Wonderful, I really love these projects and the final pieces were something I really wanted for my home so I am glad it has inspired you too, thank you, best of luck 😊❤️
Absolutely terrific. I will try to make this. I like making projects that I will use and these masks are inspirational for a newly built home.
Thank you, happy to hear you like them, I absolutely love displaying these in my home, hope you do too ⭐️
Would love to see you make a modern tall statue.
I would love to make something much bigger ❤️
Hi very impressed with your work. Have you ever used sea glass and air dryed clay
Thank you, not with air dry clay no, but willing to try anything 😊❤️
Can you please make a large sleeping fox?? I want to make the Anthropology cabinet land and sky and I would like to do the Fox with air dry clay.
I do love foxes, sounds great, did you see this fox pot AIR DRY CLAY Fox Pot - Home Decor Plant Pot
czcams.com/video/5bIyv6bmqMs/video.html the other foxes I’ve done are fox pin badges. You callus have a go at sculpting with tin foil and use some pictures similar to what you are after for reference, best of luck
Everything you do is amazing! I just started working with air clay and I really like it. I have a question, can you decoupage on air clay? I tried using a napkin but did not work? Thank you!
Thank you Sandra, once the clay is fully dry yes you can, a smoother surface will help with something as delicate as a napkin 😊❤️
I would just love to see a Easter island statue ? what do you think??
I should have asked above lolI was talking about a garden statue similar to your face that you made in another video I love your work so inspiring!!
Definitely, can make using the same method, would be great to make something bigger
Thank you, happy to hear my channel inspires you, yes all would be fab 😊
Have you ever made a artist's paint palette with airdry clay. I see others have done but am concerned the watercolor will stain or soak through. Do you have recommendations as to what varnish or finish would be most appropriate? Your instructional videos have been very inspiring :)
Yes I have, if using something like resin you can use a sealant like mod podge first and then the resin so the resin just sits on the top rather than soaking into the clay
@@RedRockingBird thank you. for the suggestion. What brand or type of resin would I use. I just today purchased the only package I could find of airdry clay in our small town. It is Crayola brand. So I am now experimenting. Very excited to try this out. I have never used clay.
@@karent1717 triple thick gloss is great for beginners as it’s easier to apply and doesn’t require anything other than a brush
I remember now you are wanting to waterproof for a paint palette, the resin I use is this one: amzn.to/3Uq0Eb6 which needs a uv lamp to cure or sunlight which takes longer
Hello, I've enjoyed watching some of your videos watching you sculpt. I've been trying to work with Das clay a little bit now to create plant pots, however the clay is going get all over your hands though that part I don't care about. But what is troublesome is that the clay coating your hands will dry out and become flaky, but the dried clay on my hands in turn starts to affect how I can sculpt. I have to stop, go wash that clay off, which isn't quick before i can resume working with the clay.
Hi, thanks, yes washing hands after the messy bit I recommend in a lot of my videos, it’s part of the creative fun, once the majority of the clay is sculpted I find it’s just part of my hand that gets clayey, how about keeping a damp old cloth near you and keep on wiping them. I LOVE clayey hands, who else here does???
I agree. There is something soothing about clayey hands! Great tutorial ❤
@@RedRockingBird sure I could keep a wet wash rag near by. I don't mind my hands getting covered in the clay, but when it dries on my hands, it seems to start pulling moisture from the clay I'm working with. So I will have a dish of water and keep dipping my hands in it to wet the clay on them. :)
@@Plantsandtoyhorses hi, ok just don’t want to add excess moisture, add as little as possible, yes the flakey clay will effect the finish, enjoy
I forgot to ask this in my above comment. Can you show how to do the leaf one that you showed in picture. Ty
You would do this in the same way, but start with that shape cardboard, curve it and add the foil then clay in same way 👍❤️ thank you
@Red Rocking Bird ok, going to try it one day. I'm just starting out with clay. I enjoy watching your videos , keep up the good work of art. Tysvm.
@@marymiller5315 wonderful, enjoy, thanks again ❤️
Is air dry clay any good for making jewelry? How about with resin?

Hiya, what do you think of mod podge as a sealant?
Hi, if that’s what you have then use t and see what you think, has it’s positives
@@RedRockingBird thanks for responding :)
@@paperinashes happy crafting 😊
@@RedRockingBird thanks! You as well :)
Bedankt
Hi, thank you so much, I had meant to say in the video, for the first one, the biggest one I made used approximately 650g of clay and I was able to make all 3 projects using 1kg of clay. Thanks ❤
@@RedRockingBird hi 👋, thanks again for the answers, have fine weekend 🤗👍 bye bye
@@brigittaelegeert1470 have a great weekend too, I hope you’ll make something similar ❤️
Warme groeten Brigitte
Wens je mooie dag toe 🌹🥰🤗👋🍀👏
@@brigittaelegeert1470 no problem, when the clay is fully encased like this it is not come away from the tin foil now, if you drop it and bang it then yes breaking could happen. I do the same to the front and the back, all is covered in foil and clay. And yes, varnish the face or similar to protect, you could also paint it first and then varnish. Thank you and best of luck
Would love to see u make a easy figure with no real detail just a figure please
I
That would be great, not a human figure but a week on Friday there should be a video of mine out making a mouse figure 🌸
